Yes, Andy was here at the Crocodile Cafe last night. What a treat to see him again, the first time since '83. Unfortunately I got there at 8:00 and he did not start playing until 11:15...I could have come in right at that time and got my same position at the front of the stage that I had.
Played the same songs and finished only with Message...not Murder this time. He was quite funny between songs, and really ragged on the folks in Nashville and Vancouver (sorry folks). He said the Seattle crowd was much better (probably always says that, right?). The drummer and bassist were really fun to watch and full of personality. There was a semi-idiot in the crowd who kept yelling during the songs, and between them too. He asked Andy a few times if that was his Mother on the phone. Another guy yelled "Fill it up, Fill it up", and other than "Message" those were the only Police references.
Unlike the other shows, Andy left immediately after the last song and did not return for chats or autographs. Maybe because the only guy with an armload of albums to sign was me.
The tickets were $12, and there were maybe 100 to 200 people there, so he ain't doing this for the money. He did plug the CD numerous times though.
Don't miss him when he comes to your city, and be sure to tell me if he knocks the crowd in Seattle.
