From: "GUGTEN VAN DER R.L."

In addition to the article about the tracklists on the "Fields of Gold" CD I can mention the following:

The tracklist of the French release of "Fields of Gold" seems to be the same as the Japanese one according to the tracklist mentioned on the sleeve. The French release has mentioned "Fragilidad" (Spanish version) on the sleeve, but the disc plays "Fragil" (Portuguese version)!!!

On the case there is a black/white sticker saying: "This Cowboy Song as featured in Terminal Velocity".

Although the disc says: "made in France by PMDC", I think it was used for the UK-market. In the booklet there is a card (an extra page) which had to be send to A&M Records in London to enter your name into the "Sting Prize Draw" to win 50 CD's of your choice from the A&M catalogue.

France (540 286 2)
------
1)when we dance
2)set them free
3)fields of gold
4)all this time
5)Englishman in NY
6)Mad about you
7)Its probably me
8)they dance alone
9)If I ever lose my faith
10)fragile
11)Well be together
12)Moon over Bourbon street
13)Love is the 7th wave
14)russians
15)Why should I cry for you
16)This cowboy song
17)Fragil (although mentioned as "Fragilidad" on the cover!)

> Among the first releases for Ark will be "TWANG! - A Tribute To Hank
> Marvin & The Shadows", which includes Peter Green's first recording
> for many years and contributions from Mark Knopfler and Brian May. This release also contains the track "STINGRAY" which features Andy Summers (guitar), Jerry Watts (bass) and Greg Bissonette (drums).

Hi everyone,

today I'd like to ask ALL of you for your help. I've just started working on
a second edition of the discography I wrote three years ago.
This one will be completely different to the first one as it will include
much more information. Apart from information on the records it will also contain infos on:

- Concerts
- TV Appearences
- Books, Magazines, Presskits, etc...
- Movies
- Memorabilia
etc., etc.

Of course this whole thing will include information on ALL projects - not only on The Police, Sting, Stewart & Andy but also the Animals, Last Exit, Animal Logic, etc., etc....

As all this is an awful lot of stuff I estimate that the book should at least consist of 300-400 pages and will take one year to complete.

For a start I want to ask everyone of you who ever went to a concert by THE POLICE, STING, STEWART, ANDY or any other group they played with to send me a complete (whenever possible) setlist of that night and any other important information about the gig you want to share with other people. Maybe Sting had his hair shaved, Stewart came on stage riding on a horse or Andy was wrestling with some Japanese guy - just let me know. Be sure, that everyone who contributes information will be mentioned in the final book.

Please remember to eMail me privately and NOT the list as this would cause some sort of crash I guess.

OK, that's about it for today - Thanks in advance

I've just received for the first time a CD Single from South Africa. It's the 1995 "Can't Stand Losing You (Live)" by The Police. Cat.No. is SINCD 234, comes in paper sleeve with the usual ps and has the usual 4 tracks on it:

CSLY (Live) / Roxanne (Live) / Voices (Smoove Remix) / Voices (Classic)

Does anyone know whether there are more CD Singles from this country?

Cheers

Joerg

I found this at the Ticketmaster Web Site:

Sting will travel to Los Angeles to perform in a charity concert on October 17th, just three days after he'll be the first ever Westerner to do a show in Vietnam's Ho Chi Minh City. For his Los Angeles gig, Sting will join up with Sheryl Crow, John Mellencamp, Melissa Etheridge, Don Henley, Bryan Adams and a variety of others for the "City of Hope All-Star Garage Band." The event is in honor of VH1 president John Sykes and will benefit charities that deal with AIDS, Alzheimer's and cancer.

If anyone knows how I can get tickets for this, please let me know. I would love to go. Plus, I would like to 'document' the event.

Thanks,
Matt

Erwin Kempen: Help is needed to get a tape of this concert, does anybody has an idea for Matt ?

I still haven't heard from anyone who has January Stars on a CD single for sale or trade. Is there anyone who can help me out?!

Thanks,
Michael

Erwin Kempen: I havent got a copy anymore ! Rogier/Joerg do you have something in stock ?

Hi Erwin:
I have a couple of questions for the freaks.

1.-I know Outlandos was edited on blue vinyl in the UK and Synchronicity was edited in 3 (or more?) colours vinyl in Australia. Do you know of any other Police LP in coloured vinyl. Also can you give us some other information of this records. Are the Australians hard to find?

Erwin Kempen: Outlandos D'amour was presses on light- and dark blue vinyl in the UK, there is also an Australian pressing on blue vinyl. Synchronicity was pressed on 5 different colours vinyl. 3 different types of blue (one pressing from New Zealand), yellow and red. The one which is most difficult to find is the light blue Australian pressing. Zenyatta Mondatta was also pressed on coloured vinyl, two different colours green. All the Australian/New Zealand pressing were released when the Police was on tour in Aussieland.

2. How can you know if a single is from the orginal release or a reisue (when they have the same picture sleeve). For example, the So lonely UK single which was released in november 78 and reisued four month later. Can you think on any other example?

Erwin Kempen: You should order Joerg Zimmerman's first book, he has written down all the differnet pressings of vinyl. More news about him in this issue.

3. When, how, where, why was the slow version of The truth hits everybody recorded?. Why is it so difficult to find?

Erwin Kempen: The slow version is already from 1979/1980. The Police even did this version a few times live. It is difficult to find because it was released on 2 singles only. First the UK double pack for Every Breath You take and after that the Dutch pressing of Synchronicity II

Since many of us have large collections of audio tapes that we use to trade, how do you store the tapes when not listening to them? Do you use cardboard boxes, book shelves, handmade storage units, etc.? I am curious on how others from around the world manage their collections!

Best Regards,Jon

Erwin Kempen: Perhaps I'm lucky I do not know but a company here in Holland made special store boxes (for 78 tapes). Prices for these are around $20.00. I have 17 of these boxes with tapes, Police/Sting only, I'm curious to find out how other people handled this problem !

Hi Erwin, you wrote:
>>Rumours say that there will be a new laser disc from Japan

>>On this this disc you can find a police concert from 1982, it is called:
>>"Live Ghost in the machine tour" 90 minutes concert of Gateshead England

Actually, CDnow! claims to sell this item, as a videotape, and not a laserdisc. I can't remember the price, but if you look at www.cdnow.com and do a search for police you'll get this item too. CDnow! is well known to sell things not yet released, so the information on the format could be wrong. Most probably there will be both media, LD and Video tape. The cat # reported is R-3615.

About bootlegs, the Great Dane Records Shop closed definitely a dozen of days ago. As I could discover, the Italian authorities always kept an eye closed on bootlegs when the pressings were limited to a few thousand copies. A couple of years ago, ON STAGE label started pressings that surpassed 50000 copies, selling them everywhere for ridiculous prices (under 8 US$). So there were a general upset and authorities started irruptions in fairs, shops etc. Now it's very hard to find them. In Milan there are yet two only shops with a limited choice of bootlegs.

Ciao, Carlo.
