VAN HALEN:VAN HALEN (first album)

If you want to talk about albums that really ROCK, then Van Halen's first album is one to talk about. It features Eddie Van Halen, in my opinion, the greatest guitar player ever. The speed and versitility he has with the guitar is absolutely awesome. Just listen to his famous solo "Eruption" and you'll see. He even says that he made mistakes on it. I haven't detected any. Eddie has his own style of playing which has been copied through the years by many guitarists. But let's not forget about his brother Alex who can play the drums with the best of them, Micheal Anthony who with Alex provides the perfect bass rhythm section as well a backing vocals, and Diamond David Lee Roth who leads the band with his melodic voice and screams. They are the rock and roll "Supergroup"! Includes: You Really Got Me, Ain't Talkin ' 'Bout Love, Runnin' With The Devil , Feel Your Love Tonight, and Jamie's Cryin'.

KISS:ALIVE!

"You wanted it, so you got it! The hottest band in the land:KISS!!!" That's the way this classic live album starts off followed by an enormous ovation from the "Kiss Army". Remember those guys who wanted you to "rock and roll all night and party every day?" This is them! Of the three live albums Kiss has, I feel this one is the best. Along with Alice Cooper, Kiss was one of the first bands to do cool stuff on stage, including breathing fire, spitting blood, and always dressing up in cool costumes and facepaint. Kiss is also one of the pioneer heavy metal bands and has had a huge influence on many other bands, and never failed to deliver on the live front. Just listen to Alive's opener, an explosive Deuce! It wasn't until the end of the 70's where we saw Kiss "unmasked" but who really cares. The Kiss Army just wants to here some good hard rock and roll! And that's what Kiss does on this classic live album! Includes: Deuce, Rock and Roll All Nite, Strutter, Cold Gin, and Firehouse. .

PETER FRAMPTON:FRAMPTON COMES ALIVE

Do you feel like we do? That's the question Peter Frampton asks during this MONSTER live album. This album has been called one of the greatest live albums ever recorded. A definate classic. It includes the epic 14 minute performance of "Do You Feel Like We Do" which includes Frampton using a talkbox so he can "talk" through his guitar. Plus the crowd itself is one of the best crowds I've heard on any live album. Every little thing Frampton does on the guitar make the crowd go crazy. The whole set itself is nothing short of amazing. Now do you feel like we do? Get the album and find out. Also Includes: All I Want to Be, Baby I Love Your Way, Show Me The Way, Something's Happening.

THE CARS:THE CARS(first album)

From the opening dot matrix computer printer sounding guitar of"Good Times Roll" to the space age love opus of "You're All I Got Tonight","Bye Bye Love", "Moving In Stereo", and "All Mixed Up", The Cars debut album rocketed to the top of the charts and helped bring the all familiar keyboard synth pop sound well into the eighties. Your welcome. The Cars were a band well ahead the times with their upbeat, danceable, keyboard and guitar oriented "fun" tunes. And this album, though in my opinion their best, was only the beginning of a string of late 70's early 80's hits as "Let's Go","Drive", and "Shake It Up". But this will do for now. Definately pick it up and "let the good times roll". Also includes: Just What I needed

Whether you like books, Music, or home videos, Time Life has it ALL!

THE MOODY BLUES:DAYS OF FUTURE PASSED

The reconstituted Moody Blues, with Justin Hayward and John Lodge established on guitar, bass, and vocals, venture into progressive rock territory with the London Festival Orchestra and have their first major success, both with the album and the singles "Nights in White Satin" and "Tuesday Afternoon." The material seems pretentious but really rocks pretty hard, and the orchestral interludes, courtesy of the late Peter Knight, have an epic sweep that still dazzles the ear. In 1967, a lot of people hungry for something to put on the turntable after =Sgt. Pepper= turned to this, and turned it into an international hit with good reason. - Bruce Eder Includes: Dawn is a Feeling, Tuesday Afternoon, Peak Hour, Nights in White Satin.

JETHRO TULL:THICK AS A BRICK

There are certain bands that put out songs from an album that are very long and seen to draaaaaaag on forever. Tull give a new meaning to the extensive track. Thick As A Brick is an album of approximately 45 minutes in length, but only ONE song; Thick As A Brick. Originally an epic poem written by Gerald "Little Milton" Bostock that was disqualified from a contest because of its content. Mind you, Little Milton was only 8 years old and even I cannot understand what is going on in his poem. Ian Anderson of Jethro Tull "took" the poem, and somehow magically transformed it into a 45 minute masterpiece with so much going on and so many changes that it doesn't drag for a second. It also includes a well known catchy "flute riff" as only Tull can deliver. ( I have recently been told that the Gerald Bostock thing never happened and that it was all Ian Anderson's idea. But it wold have been cool if that reall happened.) Includes These melodies: Sample 1, Sample 2, Sample 3.

YES:FRAGILE

Fragile was the breakthrough album from the band known as Yes. An album in which each member of the band was able to explore their own ideas and transform those ideas into music. Hence the reason why five of the tracks on Fragile were each written by each member of Yes. Along with these ideas is the classic extensive track "Roundabout" and the offbeat but strong "Long Distance Runaround". And with the addition of Rick Wakeman on organ, Jon Anderson and the boys produced a bigger sound and a successful career to come. Includes Roundabout, Long Distance Runaround, Mood For A Day, The Fish.

ERIC CLAPTON:SLOWHAND

"Clapton is GOD!!" Many people tend to believe that. And here on Slowhand, he continues to live up to it. Considered one of his best efforts, Eric Clapton mixes up the different roots of rock on this album. Lay Down Sally; a country feel to it, Cocaine; an anti-drug cover, Wonderful Tonight; the classic ballad, Mean Old Frisco; Blues tinged, and The Core; your basic guitar rock track. Clapton's soloing is near perfect in sound, style, volume, and mood. No one does it better. A landmark album in his solo career after being part of numerous bands ( Yardbirds, Cream, Derek and the Dominoes, John Mayal's Bluesbreakers, and Blind Faith ) that have been such great influences on future guitarists. Slowhand? Clapton? I don't think so. Nonetheless a classic great album.

THE EAGLES:HOTEL CALIFORNIA

"Welcome to the Hotel California. Such a lovely place." Such a great album. This 1976 masterpiece became an instant classic after the release the the title track Hotel California, selling over 14 million copies making this album the 7th best selling album of all time. The Eagles were very popular even before the release of Hotel California having a kind of southern country-rock sound that appealed to many fans. Enter former James Gang and Barmstorm member Joe Walsh into the picture. Adding his style of guitar playing and recognizable vocals, along with those of Glen Frey and Don Felder, and the humanitarian Don Henley, Hotel California has become one of the most listenable albums of rock. Also includes the rocker Life In the Fast Lane, and New Kid in Town.
