    RIAA GOLD CERTIFICATION
Whitney Houston's latest hit "Step By Step", which has already been certified silver for 200,000 copies sales in UK, receives another certification. This time, it is in the US. "Step By Step" is now a gold single, having sold 500,000 copies in the US. This follows the platinum smash, "I Believe In You And Me" which garnered 1 million copies, peaking at #4. Although "Step By Step" missed the top ten, it did achieve enough sales. Airplay was low for this song, peaking only at #39. Meanwhile, at the same time, Madonna achieves her 17th gold certificate for "You Must Love Me", which gives her the title (once again) of the female artist with the most gold singles. Janet Jackson and Whitney Houston are both at 16. Whitney's airplay has been low for both the singles from "Preacher's Wife" and we hope it reverses with the releases of the next two "Preacher's Wife" singles, "My Heart Calling" (late April/early May) and "You Were Loved" (to be announced). A final gospel single may be released. It is probably going to be "Joy".

    AUSTRALIAN CHARTS UPDATE
"Step By Step" falls down to no. 40 after peaking at numberr 12 and staying in the top 20 for 4 months! Big hit even though it didn't make top ten. Also happened in the UK. However, "I Believe In You And Me" hits number 80 and falls out of the chart after one week. Too bad.

    EVERYTHING
Wow! I haven't updated this for ages. But, at this week, Step By Step is at 22 again after peaking at no. 15. I Believe In You And Me hangs on a 16th week at no. 44. It might go back to Top 40 next week. Meanwhile, Whitney's next movie is set to be a role of an undercover cop. Should be interesting! In the UK, "I Believe In You And Me" peaks at 16 on its first week, dropping to 33 and leaving the Top 40 after only 2 weeks. "step by step" was a top 5 airplay hit in the UK peaking at no. 13 on the UK singles charts! Whitney is set to perform in May in Japan!

    GRAMMY REPORT
Whitney, Brandy, Cece and Mary J. Blige were the last performers on Grammy night. The "Waiting To Exhale" medley was beautiful, a special moment, when Babyface claimed "he was trying to prevent himself from crying". He won "Producer of the Year" for the various tracks he produced. However, Whitney looked very thin that night and she used her falsetto (I'm not too good with these terms but you know the false voice we all have), finding it hard to hit the high notes. She was struggling throughout the whole "Exhale" song and was saved by Cece's wonderful voice on "Count On Me". Hope she gets better and relieves her stress.

    BILLBOARD CHARTS UPDATE
"I Believe In You And Me" falls another spot to number 6 and doesn't seem to have a chance of hitting number one as intense competition has risen from Spice Girls and Toni Braxton. Also, "I Believe In You And Me" is not that popular on the radio and airplay is low. However, sales are high, keeping it in the top 5 for 5 weeks, peaking at number 4. Meanwhile, the album continues to fall, but will have no problem rising back up since "Step By Step" will hit radio soon and is number 10 on the Dance Club Play.
