As a result, I sometimes disagree with it because some songs like No Doubt's "Don't Speak" have been so huge but have never gotten a chance to enter the chart because of their single unavailability. Whitney's "Queen Of The Night" was also a major hit but never made it into the Hot 100 because it wasn't available as a single.
Also, we'll take another Whitney case. The Bodyguard soundtrack only spawned a single #1 hit, "I Will Always Love You" on the Hot 100. What was interesting was that none of the other songs made number one because not many people decided to buy the single since the album was so good. "I'm Every Woman" and "I Have Nothing" hit #2 and #1 respectively on the Billboard Airplay Charts but were not able to hit #1 on the Hot 100 because of low sales. "Run To You" (#31) was a bigger hit than "I Believe In You And Me" (#4) on airplay.
So, charts are cool to look at but they're not accurate really at times. I had to get that cleared up. Now, enjoy. The Billboard 200 is compiled through sales only, obviously so it's very accurate.
