Pity poor Noel Gallagher, the Other Eyebrow Brother. Once he was known only as Liam's more sullen sibling; now Creation Records receive more calls about his wife Meg Mathews - requesting such fashion tips as "It's all about shoes, if you've really got a nice pair of Manolos you could be wearing anything" - than they do about Oasis.
Manolos, in case you were wondering, sweetie, are Blahnik shoes, and they cost Ł400 a pair.
As Oasis's star has fallen, Meg's as a world-class shopper and party organiser has soared. She's the latest It girl and no mistake - though wags at Creation add an uncharitable two-letter suffix - with her own column in The Sunday Times, called 'Yeah!' Here's a taster of her deprecating style: "The drive to our house is a quarter of a mile" (that is, once you're inside the gates). And her recently enhanced bust will grace next year's Esquire calendar.
But sometimes celebrity is not enough. Meg wants respect. "People think there is nothing to me but shopping and partying," she tells us. "I've had the Diane von Furstenburg dress I wore to the Sound Republic for months...those Gucci trousers were two years old. And, by the way, that 'raggy' jacket I wore to the Star Wars premiere was meant to have a hole in it. It's a Vivienne Westwwod." We're glad to set the record straight.
