OASIS Faq
THE OBSERVER
YOUNG RICH 1999
11th April 1999
- LIAM GALLAGHER
- Singer, Oasis
- valued at £6 million
- 17th
- Singer Liam, 26, holds a 20 per cent stake in Oasis - last reported to be worth £18m. The band have sold upwards of 18 million albums worldwide, including 8 million in the UK. Although brother and songwriter Noel will receive the majority of the record sales revenue [I think the writer must mean publishing revenue; and then he gets it all] , Liam still benefits from lucrative merchandise and tour deals. The owner of a Primrose Hill house worth an estimated £1.2 million, Liam's assets are likely to boost his actual wealth way beyond this conservative estimate.
- PAUL McGUIGAN
- Bassist, Oasis
- valued at £4 million
- 27th
- The Oasis bassist - one of the founding members - will share a limited amount of their success. The royalties from Oasis's 15 [or is it 18; see Liam's entry above] million album sales are split five ways, granting McGuigan about £3 million. Beyond this, he will receive income from the band's merchandising and tour revenue, but will see none of the lucrative publishing royalties, which belongs exclusively to fellow member Noel Gallagher.
- [Noel & Bonehead don't feature in this list as it concerns the under 30s]
