OASIS Faq
MELODY MAKER

- tabloid tales
- The Sun snapped a "snarling" Liam and Noel Gallagher outside the French des res where Oasis are recording. Both brothers were sporting Seventies-style feather cuts, and neither looked very happy. Under the headline, "Here's ruckin' at you, our kid", the paper suggested that the pressure of making the fourth album is taking its toll.
- Apparently, the pair were heard "screaming and shouting at each other inside the studio". A so-called "witness" said: "They were really going for it and it was classic Liam and Noel behaviour. Liam was like a little terrier and wouldn't let go, but Noel didn't seem that interested. Liam stormed off and wasn't seen for the rest of the day."
- Despite this report, the band's spokesman seemed unconcerned. He told The Maker: "It's nothing for anyone to be worried about. Everything is going fine out there and they're having a great time."
- The Mirror was next to renew its interest in the band. Under the haedline "Helloasis!", it reported that Meg Mathews and Noel have invited showbiz mag Hello! into their north London gaff to snoop around. The report claimed that Noel nipped home from France especially to welcome "the sickly but high-paying mag to Supernova Heights".
- Matthew Wright seemed particularly outraged by this, demanding to know why Noel had even considered appearing in Hello!, when the likes of Johnny Vaughan and Zoe Ball had turned it down. He continued to show his distaste by mocking up a "sneak preview" of how the interview might have gone. Perhaps he's just jealous, cos Hello! haven't asked him yet.
- But The Maker has discovered that the story isn't strictly true. Surprise, surprise! It's been made clear that neither Noel nor Oasis have had anything to do with the feature in Hello! magazine.
- The Sun's Woman pull-out devoted a centre-spread to Meg Mathews. In the "exclusive" interview, it was suggested that Meg's "rock-solid relationship with husband Noel" is due to their differences. She supposedly said: "I never go on tour with Noel, and he never comes to gigs with me...That's probably why we have such a good marriage because we are not in each other's pockets. We alwasy have plenty of things to talk about."
- She went on to hit back at those who criticise her fashion sense, reportedly saying: "When people slag off my dress sense they are slagging off the designers, including the British designers, who I'm trying to get publicity for. I don't let it bother me now. I've become very tough."
