- "Celebrity Mission To Albania"
- Noel Gallagher, Stereophonics, Travis, Paul Weller and The Kinks' Ray Davies are set to travel to Albania to visit Kosovan refugees.
- Paul Weller's sister Nicky, who staged the recent all-star benefit show for Kosovo at London's Kentish Town Forum (May 30), is organising the trip. She told NME that the show, which raised more than '50,000 for the Kosova Aid charity, was such a success that all the artists involved had agreed a mission to Albania was a good idea.
- Nicky said: "All the artists have been in touch saying what a brilliant gig it was and thanking us for letting them play. Everyone I spoke to said the trip was a great idea. We've now got to hold meetings to decide who wants to go."
- At the Forum gig, Gallagher surprised fans by playing an acoustic version of The Verve's 'Bitter Sweet Symphony'. He dedicated the song to Manchester City fans still celebrating victory over Gillingham at Wembley earlier in the day which secured their team's promotion to Division One. He then played stripped-down versions of "Supersonic", "Rock'n'Roll Star" and "Wonderwall". Compere for the night, Keith Allen, persuaded Gallagher to return to the stage after ehadliners Travis to perform a solo version of "Live Forever".

- They were for good causes. Noble, respectable affairs. Until they let the pop stars in...
- ...there was the Kosovo Aid Benefit, whose organisers strove for an atmosphere of civilised calm by inviting the receding heads of dadrock to keep the peace. Oh yes, it was chief dads Paul Weller and Ray Davies, with apprentice dads, Noel Gallagher, Stereophonics and Ocean Colour Scene boring their way through the well-meaning skulls of all present. Luckily Liam's appearance caused a spot of commotion when he turned up with Ian Brown, guitarist Aziz Ibrahim and his entourage, locked in boisterously matey conversation. Do we see a future collaboration germinating?
