- "Noel Joins Weller At Victoria Park"
- Noel Gallagher joined Paul Weller for the penultimate song at his London Hackney Victoria Park show on Saturday 8th August, although his rumoured solo set failed to materialise.
- Noel sang backing vocals on Weller's version of the Dr John song "Walk On Gilded Splinters". He also introduced Weller at the beginning of his two-hour set.
- Noel had played unannounced supports with Weller on his short UK tour playing acoustic versions of "Stand By Me", "Don't Go Away", "Wonderwall", "Don't Look Back In Anger", "Live Forever" and The Jam's "To Be Someone". Some of the crowd expected him to do the same at Weller's London park show.
- In a separate review of the Weller concert, the reviewer Peter Robinson had this to say:
- "Before Paul Weller appears, Noel Gallagher MC bellows, 'For what you are about to receive, may Mod make you truly thankful!' over the PA. With absolutely no hint of irony....
- "It's only at the end, when surprise guest (and what a surprise!) Noel Gallagher appears for a rendition of "Walk On Gilded Splinters" and receives the most enthusiastic cheer of the evening, that we realise how true that is..."
- Elsewhere it was suggested that Noel also played electric guitar during the final number of the evening, a version of Weller's "Porcelain Gods".
