- Oasis will release a new single called "Go Let It Out" later this year or early next, according to Noel Gallagher.
- Talking exclusively to NME at the Loaded Carling Good Work Fella Awards last week (May 17) at the Talk Of London in Covent Garden, Noel also revealed that the band's fourth album currently being recorded in a French chateau, is provisionally titled "Where Did It All Go Wrong?"
- Noel Gallagher said recording was still at an early stage, but that he was pleased with the way things were going. However, he said the daily grind of being in the studio was getting to him so he had flown in for the Loaded Awards for a break and to meet up with his old friend, Paul Weller.
- He said: "I'm getting pretty bored over there, so I just came over here for a piss-up. The album's going alright, just a little bit slow."
- "Y'know, Liam hasn't sung in the studio for the best part of three years and we haven't played together in the studio for the best part of three years. These things tend to take time. But it's alright, apart from the fact that Spike Stent (their new producer), the fattest man on the planet, has eaten all the equipment which tends to put a fuckin' mockers on things."
- He continued: "I don't know what it's going to sound like yet. I mean, we're not even half way through it yet so... We leave France on Friday or Monday I think (May 21 or 24)... then the overdubs start and we'll start getting into how it's going to sound."
- Noel said that he was determined not to hype the record as much as their last album release, 1997's 'Be Here Now'. "I ain't gonna start bigging it up like other bands do saying it's 21st-century rock'n'roll or, y'know, 'This is going to be like the watershed of music by any band', because at the moment, right, I really don't know what it's going to end up like 'cos me and Spike are producing it and it's the first time we've worked with anybody else other than Owen (Morris, Oasis' longtime producer who stands down for this album)."
- A relaxed and chatty Noel, who had arrived at the Loaded event with Weller, said that until the mixes had been finished, it was hard to say which of the songs he had written - or whether the one that Liam has composed about his stepson, 'Little James' - would feature on the album.
- Noel said: "Everybody seems to be happy, but it's all up in the air at the moment. We don't know what tracks are going to be on the album. I mean, I wrote 20-odd songs last year." But he added: "The first single is definitely called 'Go Let It Out' and the album's got a working title of 'Where Did It All Go Wrong?' - so that'll be the end of that!"
- He concluded by saying there was still no set date for a release of either single or album and also revealed that he had banned Liam from drinking for three months to facilitate the album recording.
- He said: "My little brother has given up the drink for three months now and he had to because the band would not have been going any longer. I had to give him an ultimatum which was, 'You're not going to France for the film festival if you aren't going to give up drinking.' He did. And I tell you what, everybody in the band is shocked that it had to come to that. He's a better person for it but he's a bit more boring.
- "He can be a shit when he's drinking. He's made it a whole lot easier for us to make this record by stopping."
- "Noel Collaboration With Chemicals"
- Noel also revealed that his latest collaborative effort with The Chemical Brothers, "Let Forever Be", will be released as a single in July through Virgin Records. The track is taken from the Chemicals' forthcoming album "Surrender", which is due out on June 21. The first single from the album, "Hey Boy, Hey Girl", is released on Monday.
- "Oasis Win Loaded Awards
- At the Loaded Awards ceremony at the Talk Of London in Covent Garden on May 17, Oasis won Album of The Decade for "(What's The Story) Morning Glory?", The Radio 1 Best Live Performance Of The Decade and Band Of The Decade.
- Asked where Liam was during the awards, Noel quipped: "At work where he f*****g should be!"
- He dedicated their loaded Good Work Fella Album Of The Decade Award to New Order manager Rob Gretton, who had died two days previously. Noel also persistently heckled the shpw's host Stella Street star Phil Cornwell, and shouted "It's a fix!" when Weller was announced Songwriter Of The Decade Award. When Prince Naseem Hamed was named Best Boxer Of the Decade, Noel exclaimed loudly to the gathered celebrities: "F*** that! I've leathered my brother so many times! It's about time people recognised that million-pound for million-pound, I'm the best fighter...in Oasis."
- When he received the Band Of The Decade Award from actress Kathy Burke, he said: "I've always loved Kathy Burke," to which the actress replied, "I don't take it up the arse though." Noel responded, "That blows my night out then!" and quipped that it was nice getting awards from a magazine rather named after his own financial situation.
- "All Mod Contributions"
- Liam and Noel Gallagher will appear with Paul Weller, Beastie Boys, Steve Cradock and Gene on the long-awaited Jam tribute album, slated for an August release on Polydor. "Fire And Skill" will feature around 15 different Jam covers by international artists.
- Liam and Ocean Colour Scene's Cradock have recorded a version of "Carnation" while Noel will contribute his take on "To Be Someone".
- Jam founder Paul Weller and Cradock's version of "No One In The World" will appear as a hidden, 'secret' track. The song only appeared on The Jam's "Extras" album. Cradock recently told Scootering Magazine: "Only the stoneheads will find it. Paul recorded it with The Jam, just guitars and vocals. It's very rare."
- Beastie Boys have recorded a version of "Start!" and Gene have covered "A Town Called Malice". Gene have also recorded a version of The Jam's "Wasteland", which appeared as a B-side to their 1997 single "We Could Be Kings".
- No other acts have been confirmed for the record yet but it is thought many will be from the US.

- Imagine the scenario, ladies. There you are at the Loaded Awards...present and comprehensively pissed on free champers were...Paul Weller and Noel Gallagher. Noel heckled throughout the entire ceremony, and when Prince Naseem Hamed was named Boxer Of The Decade, he shouted: "It's a fix! I've been leathering my brother for years! I'm the best boxer!" No-one was brave enough to point out that he might, in fact, be in need of a punch at that very moment.
