- "Yeah" - the Meg Mathews column"
- I went out to dinner with Darren Gayer and his girlfriend last week. He was the man responsible for designing the interior of Supernova Heights, known locally as Graceland. Darren did a really fabulous job - he found 18th-century oak from a French chateau for the floors (Benson and Hedges, the cats, prefer carpet, I'm afraid), and designed the 14ft-long, three-and-a-half ton aquarium in ths sitting room. The only drawback is the positioning of the speakers: the fish tend to vibrate. We don't use the kitchen that much - when we're not ordering takeaway, we have Noel's favourite: beans on toast!
- I spent most of the past few days being photographed by Julian Broad for American fashion bible W. Apparently, word of my passion for Pucci and Prada has made it too the other side of the Atlantic. And then came a beauty shoot for Marie Claire at the best salon in the world. I had my three favourite treatments: a massage, a pedicure and a facial. I felt relaxed, pampered and thoroughly spoilt. I'm usually so busy, I only have time for a pore strip; one of these days I will go to a party still wearing one.
- I had planned to have a break in Ireland with Noel, but because the cold I gave him has gone to his chest we had to postpone it. I felt very guilty, but I still managed to go to a party given by David Soul and his girlfriend at the Flamingo Club in Hanover Street to celebrate the opening of his new play (you will be happy to know that it doesn't co-star someone wearing a Fair Isle cardie and leaping across moving cars)>
- Later that night, along with half of hip London, I looked in on Natalie Imbruglia's birthday party at the Met Bar, and bumped into Sporty and Baby Spices. I hadn't seen them since we met at a party when they signed their recording deal, so it was nice that they remembered me.
- I felt terrible the next morning - I really shouldn't have gone on to Browns - and the effects of the facial were wiped out by the fact that I went to bed without taking my make-up off. It was alittle unfortunate that today was the day that Vogue was coming to take my picture - I looked like something the dogs had chewed.
- Back in the office, Fran Cutler, my business partner and best mate, was hard at work on the sofa (we don't do desks) making her 100th phone call of the day. Our work place has loads of atmosphere, with incense, Diptyque candles and original Jamie Reid artwork on the walls (he put the Sex into Pistols). Nicole Appleton dropped by with the great news that her fellow All Saint, Melanie Blatt, had given birth to a baby girl called Lilyella (after Ella Fitzgerald). So what could we do but wet her head with a bottle of bubbly?
- I drove down to the country on Saturday to see Noel. He was feeling a lot better, so we went for dinner at a local restaurant, which was under strict instructions to get us home in time for Match Of the Day. On Sunday, we went to the chrstening of Goldie and Tracy's little girl, Chance. We had champagne at Goldie's place afterwards, and then drove into town to the Blue Note Club for a Night of Pure Chance (deciated, of course, to the baby). With so many members of girl bands about to give birth, perhaps now is the time to bulk buy at Baby Gap. Do combat pants come in size 0-4 months?
