The Website
Welcome to Nirvana In Nirvana. What is it
that you need to know about this website? This site made its official appearance on
Geocities on January 24, 1998. During the early weeks of January, I began working on
a Nirvana site on Microsoft's Word HTML program.
After much hard work and dedication put into it,
I believed I came out with a pretty good site. The site was nothing like it is now.
It had a few links to go to, some tabs, lyrics, and "The Page of the
Day."
The "Page of the Day" was when I found
a site a liked and I gave a brief description -- usually a paragraph or two -- about why I
chose the site and what made it worthy to be the page of the day.
Nevertheless, I did not just want to simply
throw out the old page of the day. I kept them. Then I thought I should just
give up the page of the day, the tabs, lyrics, and links.
The first week the site was opened, it received
a little under 100 hits. Now that may not seem a lot, but for a starting webmaster,
it was. I believe this site has gone under about five interface changes. The
last major one was in January of 1999.
Reviews
The following things I look for in a page and
how I review them:
Connectivity - I use different browsers at the
same connection speed, then I see how long it takes for it to download completely on the
screen.
Graphics - I see how the page looks in each
browser; I give my impressions and suggestions about the graphics, if necessary.
Information - This does not apply to all
pages, but if information is available, I check and see how much of it there is, how
updated it is, and how useful it is.
Multimedia - This does not apply to all pages,
but if multimedia is available, I check and see how much of it there is, if they work, and
how useful they are.
The Author
I, Robert Brooks, was born in February of 19--
(hehe) in a small town: Kinston, North Carolina. The town is growing a bit today,
but it still keeps some of its heritage. For most of my early years, I lived in
Greenville, North Carolina. At the time it was small, but today it is a city, mainly
because of East Carolina University. I grew up being taught good morals and values,
and I feel I am very fortunate to have had, and still have, those values.
When I was about 9 years old I moved to Raleigh.
It is the 2nd largest city in the state with about 300,000 people. I still
live in Raleigh today, and it's a pretty good city to reside in.
I am currently in 10th grade, and I enjoy going
to school. There are some negative sides to school, though. However I enjoy
being around good people who like to have a good time. My grades are in the A/B
range.
A spend a majority of my time nowadays studying.
On average, I study from 1.5 hours to 2.5 hours nightly. One review takes
about the same length. I enjoy learning and gaining knowledge.
What kind of music do I listen to? Of
course I listen to Nirvana. Since the release of Wishkah, I have managed to
become a big fan of theirs. I listen to just about anything, but I still only have
rock records. I just listen to whatever is suitable for the occasion.
Well, that's pretty much it for now. :)
