Page: All In All Is All We Are

Introduction

There's a lot of Nirvana sites out there.  Out of all the Nirvana sites you will have access to, only a few will be very original.  While other sites will be somewhat original.  Then there are the sites that have just about everything you can think of.  Then there are the sites that really have no contribution to the internet except one's own personal interest.

Download Test

  • All browsers were closed before the test.

  • Address for the main page, or page that consists of contents, or the page that was viewed in the screenshot was pasted in the testing browser.

  • Time was ended when the browser stopped downloading.

  • U.S. Robotics Practical Winmodem 56k installed during test.

  • Time shown in minute/second format.

  • Read the Disclaimer for more information.

Browser Time
Internet Explorer

0:28

Neoplanet 2.0

1: 19

Netscape 4.1

0:32

Opera 3.51

1:30+

It looks like this page is made for the "bigger browsers."  Indeed, IE and Netscape had an impressive download time as compared to Neoplanet and Opera.  It does seem kind of odd, but I think it deals with the MIDI file that is also being included on the download time.

Disclaimer: The connection test was done on a 56k Winmodem connected at 32k bps.  Remember download times will vary depending on your modem speed, browser, server of the page, telephone line activity, and your internet service provide (ISP).  This will not guarantee that the page will download at the same rate on your computer as it does mine, this is just an estimate.

Graphics

  • Velocity 4400 18MB used.

  • ASTVision 4I monitor used at 32-bit color and 800x600 pixels.

This layout is one you should all be familar with.  It includes a missing scroll bar, but it still manages to be a frame.   Which is good and bad in some ways.  Still, frames are not my thing.  If you ever need to use frames, make sure you use them right.  Frames should only be for long, extensive lists.  This page throws in images of the sections in the frames.   It would have been better to put those images on the page itself, not in the frames.  You might ask, "How would I navigate the page?"

An image map, table, as well as many other options, could have been used.  The page itself seems to look fine in all of the browsers, but in Opera it does look a bit odd.  Internet Explorer seems to have a hard time with this page too.  Not only because of the MIDI file that is also being downloaded, but because of the page format.

The Page

Since this page does not offer a variety of content, I have decided to shorten the review and compress of the sections together.  Here you will find information and multimedia, as well as the other sections here.

  • Information - A lot of links in this section.   The first link is a message board for the page.   You can also see Kurt's "first poem."  The Nirvana Timeline in the eyes of Geffen Records, concert chronology and a concert setlist.  In the recordings, you have the songs Nirvana has recorded, bootleg information, and record information.  You finally have information about Kurt's death: the note in text and picture, the death certificate, and the text from Courtney reading the note.  It also has link information for the site.
  • Tabs - For all of the studio albums, including rare and unreleased material.  The main tabs page features information on power chords, feedback, and the like.
  • Lyrics - Gives a reference to another Nirvana page.
  • Equipment - Gives a link to Chris Lawrence's K.C. Equipment FAQ.  In addition to the Krist and Dave equipment FAQ.
  • Jag Stang - Remember the guitar Kurt designed by putting two together?  You have links to pages that contain information and things like that of the Jag Stang.
  • Pictures - Finally, a multimedia section.   The pictures are divided up by the topics: Nirvana, Kurt, Krist, and Dave pictures.   This is from another page, Can You Feel My Love Buzz?  Quite frankly, the pictures do not seem to work.
  • Interview/Articles - Only three.  There is one article I have not seen.  It is a worthwhile article, click here to read it.
  • Links - Plenty of links.  The only problem is that they are outdated, obviously.  In addition, it was probably copied from someplace else.

Conclusion

Hmm..this is not the page you will be visiting nowadays.   The page seems outdated, and it will stay that way.  I can tell because it seems it has been a while since it's last update, and not a whole lot of effort was put forth into the page.
