Here are the following categories, in each
category there will be [if possible] three sites listed:
- Best Graphics.
- Best Content.
- Most improved.
- Most original.
- Best overall.
Chris' Choices:
Best Graphics - As a webmaster myself,
I have learned that the more attractive your graphics are the more your visitors enjoy
their visit to your site. If they enjoy their stay, they usually will come back again.
These are the three sites that do the job extremely well:
- Grunger's Corner - This site has done a
wonderful job with graphics. It is obvious that Ben works hard to make his site look good.
The frame on top makes navigation throughout the site easy, and the image maps in each
section keep everything organized.
- Never Fade Away - Reidar continues to improve
the graphics here. Everything is neat and organized, and most of all, looks good. Reidar's
latest design looks very good, and has a very fast download time.
- KurtCobain.com - Although many people may
disagree with this choice, I personally think this site has excellent graphics. The main
page is a little slow, but it is worth the wait.
Best Content - Again referring to my
own web site, before I put much content up, visitors were rare. When I started adding
information, people began coming to my site. As with graphics, the better the content, the
more people will enjoy their visit.
- Grunger's Corner - Ben has made Grunger's
Corner one of the largest sources of information. Much of the information was original
when he first put it on the site. He continues to find new original information.
- Internet Nirvana Fanclub - Although much of
the information here is not orginal, it is a good source to find all the information you
are looking for.
- Nirvanamobile - Another site with much
information although, as with the Internet Nirvana Fanclub, much of the information is not
original.
Most Improved - Although I have seen
many pages reviewed, I have only been online for 7 or 8 months, and have not seen the
long-term progress of many sites. From what I I have seen, these are my choices:
- Captain America - When I first went to this
site, i thought it was a poorly designed web site with little information. I was proved
wrong. Greg has worked hard and brought his site to a new standard. This site is now one
of the best. Good luck to you in the future Greg.
- Grungers Corner - This was another site I
thought was poorly designed. And once again I was proved wrong. It is now an excellent
site, with a lot of content and very good graphics. Good luck to you too Ben.
- Oh The Guilt - Yes, this is my own site.
Although I probably shouldn't have included it, this is one of the sites I have seen
progress from beginning to present. It went from an extremely slow loading page with no
content, no graphics and no visitors. Now the site has gained content and visitors. The
graphics still need to improve, but it has improved very much overall.
Most Original - Originality is very
important when making a site. Without something original, people will go to another site
that has original content. Most people don't want to see the same thing everywhere they
go.
- Never Fade Away - A very obvious pick to me is
Never Fade Away. This is the most original site I have been to.
- The Nirvana Setlister - A very original site.
No other site is like the Setlister. I mean no other site (get the hint? hehe).
Best Overall - I agree with Robert on
this one. Every site listed above is good enough to take this award. Even some of the
sites that didn't make it here are good enough to win it. Many sites excell in one area,
but lack in others. There are not many sites which can say they excel in all of the areas
we looked at.
