Absolute Placebo, or my two days of a reinvention of my Placebo fan- ness

Well, I think that we all know what it's like to do something that makes a person love a band so much more. And on Monday and Tuesday, the 22nd and 23rd of March, I had just that experiance. I can't say I'm a born again 'bo fan 'cause I never stopped liking them! But, my experiance really rejuvenated my adoration for the band's music and gave me faith that they aren't bad people.

You might be thinking "Placebo are not bad people!" But as much as I think Brian's a babe (I mean I made a whole gosh durn page for him!), I've always had doubts as to him being a nice person. I've heard a lot of bad tales about him. But, when I met Placebo on Monday he was not at all the evil popstar I thought he might be in person.

Seeing Other People

Placebo played the Avalon Club in Boston on Monday, so, heeding the advice of people who had previously met the band I went to the club 3 hours before the doors opened. I was so nervous, all day my stomach had butterflies. I really, really wanted to meet Placebo and I was worried either they wouldn't be there or they would be hostile. My friend and I waited right in front of the club 'cause we were told by a lady who worked their that the band's tourbus was right across the street and they had to soundcheck soon. She also said they had been walking around a lot (although she wasn't certain who they were exactly, quel horreur! she knows not what she's missing*g* musically and physically). We must have waited about half an hour. But I knew they were there 'cause I saw a cigarette light put on and I saw the outline of Stefan's face *g* I feel silly for noticing it but it got me even more anxious 'cause they were definately in the bloody bus, they just weren't coming out.

So, finally, I see Brian, Stefan and Steve troop off the bus, and I see them walk in the opposite direction of the club (if there wasn't a gap inbetween the buses I wouldn't have seen them at all, the first lucky thing to happen). So, obviously they weren't soundchecking as I was misinformed. Pulling together all my worries and desire to get to speak to them, I hurriedly crossed the street and hurried inbetween the gap in the buses and I couldn't see where they went!!! Yea, I started to panic a little. Of course then, I looked to my other side and saw them talking to someone (that was the other lucky thing of the day 'cause we may not have caught up to them had they not stopped). Brian was complaining to that person so we waited for them to stop and then he tried to walk off. But, I got Steve and Stefan to notice me so they waited to hear what we had to say.

Of course, you're never as suave as you would wish but I just outright asked for autographs and a photo. I make Brian sound mean don't I? But then he said "Quickly, 'cause we have to go eat and I'm sick" (I guess the evil New England cold was getting to him). Which I thought was sweet of him though. He obviously wasn't in a meet and greet mood and he had on this ankle length purple puffy jacket so he must've been cold.

The best part of my two second experiance was when I wished Steve a happy birthday 'cause, well, it was his birthday! And he laughed in a nice way and Stefan smiled too;) So, I wished him an early birthday and Brian was just like "what?" That boy was out of it....Brian had nice, though chipping, nail polish that was purple. I had to compliment it, me being in such a purple kick these days. For the life of me I can't remember what Steve was wearing except he had some pass around his neck and he looked sooooo tired. His hair, well it was just total bedhead. Stefan was wearing jeans which all I remember made his legs look dead skinny and he doesn't have that dodgy beard of his anymore (what was that about anyways, can anyone tell me?). I'm being too critical aren't I?;) O, they were soo sweet and I felt so elated that Brian just wasn't like "piss off" and they at least moved together so I could get a photo (which you can see above, I'm glad it came out 'cause I was shaking! heehee). The ultimate redeeming factor of Brian was that he remembered to give me my pen cap back 'cause too many people always either nick my pens or something and it's a pet peeve of mine. So, there's the verdict! Brian's funky 'cause he didn't commit an act I find offensive.

RAWK! Well, not quite

IF you are still with me, here's my all over the place assessement of the show they played in Providence, Rhode Island, as I was unable to attend what I heard was a grrt Boston show;( But, I shouldn't frown. Musically, they were excellent, I sang along to the songs, you could hear Brian most of the time, Steve was really smacking those drums and Stefan was not a stone pillar. The sweat on Bri's chest though! Well, I won't discuss the unpleasant details;) Entertainment wise, Brian said very little and although they all were into the music which is great, there was a slighty pissy-irritated vibe Brian seemed to have. He yelled at a crowd surfer to get off stage when he got deposited there. And, though I agree that I shouldn't judge people as one girl told me that night in discussion of Stabbing Westward fans hogging the front row from us Placebo fans, he didn't crowd surf to get on stage to be near the band. Now, at first it struck me that I should land on stage to do that but this boy was just, well, whatever, Brian was speaking harshly to him. Later, someone middle fingered Brian and he obviously middle fingered him back (I had to cheer) and told him if he didn't like it to go the bar and get a drink. Though, at the end he told us we were grrrt. Not, that I think he thought that but at the end he seemed a little more pleasant. heehee. He started smiling at people in the audience, and I can't for the life of me remember which song it was but he pointed at people a lot for it;) Steve threw his drumsticks in the audience, as expected, and I missed them. Stef, threw guitar picks to people and one dropped inbetween the barrier and the stage. A few people in front gropped for it but gave up. They wouldn't even move out of the way so i could try. And I know they weren't Placebo fans, they didn't even clap for our boys!!!! Well, I shouldn't say boys considering they are a bit older than I;)
