The True Saul story!

The group later to be known as Saul was formed from the ruins of the Swedish cult punk band Stig-Sivertz Danstrio. The members were Henrik "Bus" Eriksson on vocals and Hans "Köttbolle" Andreasson on instruments and backing vocals. The group released two demo tapes under it's short but beloved career which was compiled to one tape, Greatest hits? in 1997. During the winter holidays in 1998 Henrik and Hans decided to make a come back while skiing in the deep slopes of ski paradise Sälen. The group started to play with Ludwig Falkman on bass, David Ekelund on drums, Hans on guitar and Henrik on vocals. Reignition was forced to find a temporary replacement drummer. The solution was Ludwig´s friend Pär Hedelund. After a while the group realised that they were poised to make some changes and Ludwig was promoted to the first guitar spot and Henrik left the vocals to play the bass. David decided to leave the group and as a good gesture his old friend Victor Axelsson was drafted in to the group as the new drummer and Pär Hedelund returned, now as singer.

The group continued to play and under 1999 they wrote a bunch of new songs and changed name as well as music styles and influences. Anthropoid became the new name but was changed to Saul in the late 99 and today they play melodically pop-rock with some influences from modern punk bands. Earlier, especially in the start the biggest influences was European modern skate-punk-band as Venerea, Adhesive and Snuff. Later on the music developed into more metal inspired by the 90´s powermetal as Manowar, Hammerfall and Rhapsody. The group got during this era a sixth member, Tim Karlsson. But he soon left the group for another metalband called Metal squad. After the summer in 1999 the group got together and more inspired than ever they're back in style to conquer the world during the new millennium. Saul is stronger than ever!!

In early 2000 Carl Magnus Yvede was asked if he would care to join the band, and he didn't mind. This forced some new changes. Ludwig started playing rhythm guitar and Carl Magnus became the new lead guitarist in the band.

But in the summer of 2000 Victor decided that he didn't want to play with the band anymore. So suddenly Saul had no drummer. But then Per and Pigge asked if the Saulmate Oscar Larsson would like to plat with the band. And after a while he excepted and luckily he was excepted by the rest of he band. So now they are ready to conquer what ever they want...
