» CHAPTER SEVEN «
Brian's surroundings swam around him. Brian could only see the being's eyes clearly. Blue light surrounded them and Brian grew lightheaded. He began to feel lighter than air. Shortly after, blackness clouded his vision and he lost touch with the outside world.
~ Present Day ~
"Wait a second, you're telling me that you're only half human?" Nick interrupted.
Brian sighed. "Yes."
"And when you asked me what Nyton was you were serious?"
"Yes Nick."
"Oh, okay."
"Is that it?" Brian wanted to know.
"Were you ever on a spaceship?"
"I'm getting there." Brian began to get frustrated.
"Did you ever sleep with one of those Nytons?"
"Nick!"
"What?" Nick looked at Brian innocently.
"Do you want to hear the rest of the story or not?" Brian threatened.
"Yeah! Sorry! Shutting up now!" Nick made a motion like he was zipping his lips.
"Where was I? Oh yeah, there was a blue light that surrounded us...." Brian continued.

"Brian," A soft voice called. A small grunt fell from Brian's lips as he slowly opened his eyes. He struggled to focus on anything. Eventually he gave up and his eyes fluttered closed again. A soft warm hand caressed his cheek. He felt the hand drift to his forehead. "Oh my!" There was the unmistakable sound of someone sharply drawing in their breath. Brian moaned in protest as his head began to throb. Whoever was watching him left and returned minutes later. The person propped his upper body up. "Please take this." She held a pill to his lips. Brian slowly opened his mouth and let the pill and some water enter. After he swallowed, Brian tried desperately to stand up. "Rest."
"But I...." Brian started to protest, but he realized it was his mother with him and there would be no argument. "What happened?" Brian also noticed that he was laying in a bed; his bed.
"Don't worry about it. Just rest and everything will be all right." Jackie kissed Brian's forehead and laid him down on the bed to sleep. Strange but pleasurable dreams filled his slumber.
A young vibrant woman stood in the doorway. "I don't know why you resist me." She slandered over to him. He was completely aware of her swaying hips. His gaze never left her body as he traced her curves with his eyes.
"Who are you?" He finally found his voice.
She giggled. "Call me Jenna." She didn't give him a chance to respond as her lips claimed his in a slow passionate kiss.
Brian's eyes snapped open. He looked around his room. Sunlight crept along the carpet. His breaths were quick and shallow. The door slowly crept open and Kevin entered. His voice was soft as if to soothe his cousin. "Your mom sent me to check up on you. Are you feeling better today cuz?"
"Yeah," Brian lightly shook his head. Beads of sweat from his hair dripped onto his face. His breathing slowed and became normal. "I was wondering how I got here though. I remember storming out of the house and then Cheste came up to me and she changed and then there was a blue light...."
Kevin gave Brian a puzzled look. "First of all Rok, who's Cheste? Second I think the rest was all a dream controlled by your fever. It WAS pretty high last night."
"No she was a Nyt.... Never mind." Brian cut himself off.
"A what?"
"Never mind!" Brian snapped. However he instantly regretted it when he saw the hurt look in his cousin's eyes. "Look I'm sorry, I didn't mean to snap at you...." Brian's voice drowned out when he saw the odd look on Kevin's face.
"Brian, are your eyes teal?"
"Um.... I don't know I can't see them," Brian joked.
"No seriously why are your eyes teal and don't tell me it's because of the damn lighting!"
"Contacts," Brian replied swiftly, hoping Kevin didn't see though the lie.
Kevin looked skeptical. "You're either hiding something, or not telling me the WHOLE truth."
Brian sighed. "I'd tell you if I could. To spare lives I can't say anything. But I will tell you this, I will be acting somewhat strangely for a while. Also I don't know how my health will be."
Concern crept into Kevin's green eyes. "What do you mean you don't know how your health will be?"
Brian realized that Kevin was fearing the worst. "Relax I don't have a fatal disease, and I don't plan on dying any time soon. It's not my heart either. It's just that, I may have mild things wrong with me. Kind of like the fever I had last night and the way I passed out the other day. Just whenever something happens make sure mom or Cheste is there."
"Brian, who's Cheste? It's the second time you mentioned her."
Brian smiled as he thought of the Fetra. "She has hair so blonde it's almost white and it's so soft. She has the most beautiful voice. I mean she makes me sound like an amateur when she sings. She's truly the voice of angels."
"So you know anything else about her?" Kevin was intrigued by this mystery woman.
'More then you'll ever know.' Brian thought. "There's more, but it's something I'd like to keep to myself."
"Will I get to meet her?"
"I don't know. We'll see." A sly smile came across Brian's lips.
* * * * * * *
"I knew he had a soft spot for her!" One of the beings cried out in the ancient language.
"So what do we do now?" The second inquired.
"We almost had him last night, but his mom intervened. We need to get him away from her." The first one started.
* * * * * * *
Kevin looked around the room curiously. Brian's head jerked up. He knew he had to choose his words carefully. Brian kept his eyes trained on the corner of the room. "Kev, could you go get me some water?"
"Sure?" Kevin gave his cousin a puzzled look and left the room.
Once Kevin left and Brian was sure he was out of earshot, he spoke, "Who are you? What are you doing here? I believe you were told to leave." His tone was cold and could have froze boiling water. A slender figure appeared. Brian recognized her as These from the day before. "And the other one?" Another figure appeared. She had a striking resemblance to Cheste, however Brian knew it wasn't her.
"Actually, we came here for you, but seeing as you're sick at the moment, we'll have to wait a while." These smiled coyly.
"You see, your body is still getting use to staying Nyton and you are of no use to us until your body can settle down." The second one said.
"First of all, who are you?" Brian looked at the second being that resembled Cheste.
"My name is unimportant at the moment." She informed him.
"Second, I guess then I'll have to make sure my body doesn't settle down."
"You have no choice, it does it naturally." These responded.
"Third, I'm not someone's lab rat that's under your control!" Brian was visibly seething.
"Oh, but you are my dear you are." These replied coldly. With that the two vanished leaving Brian alone in his room.
Kevin entered with Brian's requested water. His face paled when he saw Brian visibly upset. Brian's breaths were quicker and his muscles were tense. Anger was written all over his usually peaceful face. Kevin slowly walked over to Brian, trying not to startle him. It wasn't often that Brian got worked up but when he did he would lash out at anyone. Kevin felt Brian's gaze on him. The teal eyes seemed to burn Kevin's skin. Brian seemed to be analyzing his cousin waiting for him to make one wrong move.
"I brought your water." Kevin said as he set the glass down on Brian's night stand.
"Thanks." Brian gave a curt answer.
Kevin tentatively reached out to feel Brian's forehead. "I think you should relax, your fever's goin' up again." Kevin as amazed at how calm his voice was.
Brian's eyes softened and he seemed to be looking at his cousin with renewed respect. "You always do that don't you?"
Kevin noticed Brian settling down. "Do what?"
"Look out for us, like our second dad." Brian stated thoughtfully. All of a sudden, he screamed in pain. Kevin looked at the younger man frantically. Brian doubled over. His head was throbbing and his stomach churned and his heart felt like it would explode. "Sh*t not again." Brian moaned.
