» CHAPTER THIRTEEN: GOODBYE «

Allie woke to the smell of eggs and bacon. “Gosh I’m hungry,” she said to herself. She walked over to the window and looked outside. The wind was still blowing strong and the rain was coming down even harder than yesterday. She went over to the dresser and found a brush. She slowly brushed her soft brown hair; then went downstairs to get some food.

“Good morning,” Allie said as she walked into the kitchen.

“Good morning,” Nick, Valerie and AJ said at once.

Nick was sitting at the table, reading the comics; Valerie was leaning against the counter, watching AJ; AJ was cooking the breakfast.

“It’s about time that you woke up. I thought that you would sleep forever!” Valerie exclaimed and then took a sip of her coffee.

“Haha, I need my beauty rest” Allie shot back.

“You sure do!” Valerie said with a smile. “HEHE, just kidding.”

“Sure, whatever” Allie said, glaring at Valerie. The two girls started laughing.

“Wow, they get mad at each other, then laugh” AJ said, amused by the situation.

“It’s strange how their kind works” Nick said, deep in thought.

“THEIR KIND!?!?!” The girls screamed at once, making Nick jump from his seat.

"Hey, and they know what each other is going to say… creepy,” AJ said mockingly.

Valerie went over to AJ and gave him a light punch in the stomach. "Just get back to your cooking.”

“Yes Sir!” AJ said as he saluted Valerie. He turned and flipped the bacon. Valerie rolled her eyes.

“Gosh Nick, you are just so cruel” Allie said, trying to act mad at him.

“Allie, omigosh, are you mad at me?  I am so sorry, you guys aren’t strange or creepy! Please forgive me” Nick said grabbing Allie’s hand.

“I don’t think that I can” Allie replied, pulling her hand back. She started to pretend to cry.

AJ laughed under his breath. "Sucker” he said so that only Valerie could hear him. Valerie just smiled and watched the entertainment.

“I thought that you liked me, then you go and make fun of me like that. Nick, you hurt me” Allie said, into her hands.

“Yeah, and I don’t think that she’ll go out with you any more. She’s been hurt before and I don’t think that she can take getting hurt again… especially by you!” Valerie said, playing along.

“Yeah!” Allie said, sadly.

“Is there anyway that I could make it up to you? Just please don’t leave me,” Nick said, almost in tears.

Allie lifted her head out of her hands, and smiled. “OK.”

“What?! You weren’t crying! But… how….” Nick stammered.

“Got ya back, sucker!” Allie said, smiling.

“Ok… ok. I deserved that” Nick said.

Valerie walked up to Allie and gave her a high five. “You go girl!” Valerie said.

“Well, enough with that, breakfast is served” AJ said, as he handed out the plates.

Through the next day and a half of the storm, they sat around playing games and talking. They got to know more about each other than ever and they were enjoying each other’s company. Valerie’s mom called and said that it was time for the girls to come back to the condo, so AJ and Nick drove them back. It was a beautiful, bright sunny day; not a rain cloud left in sight.

When they arrived they gave Allie and Valerie each an envelope and told them not to read it until they got inside. They said their sweet and sad goodbyes, promising to see eachother again.

Valerie and Allie walked back into the condo. Valerie’s mom came running up to them. "Oh, you guys are ok… thank God!” she said as she gave them both a hug.

“Mom, why were you so worried?” Valerie asked.

“Well, you know those sickos out there. I didn’t even know for sure that you were with the real AJ of the BSB. I guess that you were, so did you have a good time?”

“Yes, we had a wonderful time” Allie said.

“Well, good. I’m going with your brother over to Disney World for the day, would you girls like to come?”

“Uh, no mom. I think that we’ll just hang out here” Valerie said, remembering that they were supposed to meet with The Firm in about two hours.

“Ok, we’ll be back at dark; we want to stay and watch the fireworks” Valerie’s mom replied as she walked out the door.

“Finally” Valerie said, plopping down on the couch. “Oh, yeah, the letters, we have to open them!”

“You go first, and read it outloud” Allie said, with excitement in her voice.

“Ok,” Valerie said as she opened up the envelope and unfolded the paper. “It says…..”

My Dearest Valerie,
I wanted to tell you that I had such a wonderful time with you. I never knew that I could ever find a woman as wonderful and amazing as you. I’ve looked my whole life for the right person for me and I think that you are it. I want to take things slowly with you and to cherish each moment that we have together. Even though you’ll be back on a plane and returning home in a few days; I want you to know that I’ll be thinking about you and wishing that you were here. I know that everything will work out and that in the end no one will be able to separate us. Call me whenever you feel the need to, no matter where I am or what I’m doing, I’ll always be there for you. I want to keep in touch and keep our relationship strong. We will be going on tour again soon, maybe you can come with us for a while when you’re on your Spring Break. Call me and I can arrange for that, but until then, keep me in your heart as I do you. I want to thank you for entering my life; I will cherish you for as long as I live. I’ll talk to you later girl! Hugs and kisses!
Love,
AJ

Valerie folded up the letter and put it back in the envelope. She looked up at Allie. "Oh, Valerie, you’re crying” Allie said as she came over to comfort Valerie.

“That was the sweetest letter that I’ve ever gotten. I’m just happy that I’m going out with such a wonderful guy, but I’m sad cause I have to back home soon!” Valerie said, inbetween sobs.

“Yeah, I know how you feel,” Allie said, looking down at her letter.

“Oh, right, you gotta read your letter” Valerie said, wiping her eyes.

“Well, here goes nothing” Allie said as she opened the envelope and unfolded the paper. “It says…”

My Sweet Allie
Hey! You know how bad I am with words, so I’m going to try to say what I need to say, without confusing you much (Wow, that was kinda confusing…whatever). Anyways, I like you a lot. I want to spend more and more time with you. The only thing that is keeping us apart is the distance, but that won’t stop us! Words can’t explain how much I wish that you were here in my arms again. I think that we were meant to be and I hope that you only feel the same. It will be hard for me to be away from you for so long, I don’t know how I’ve managed until now. We only met only a few days ago, but it’s like I’ve known you forever. I can’t wait till I can see your beautiful face and hear your wonderful voice, again. Until then, I will think of you day and night. Please call me and don’t forget about me either! I’d better go, AJ’s yelling at me cause I made a mess again! ;0) Have your people call my people and we can get together, k? (hehe)
Love,
Nick

Allie started to cry; Valerie just sat there and cried with her, until they couldn’t cry anymore.

“Well, we have an hour and a half to get ready to meet with The Firm, I’m going to go take a shower” Valerie said, still drying her tears.

“Yeah, I’d better take one after you” Allie said.

So the girls went to their rooms to get ready for their little “meeting” with The Firm.
