» CHAPTER FOUR: THE DARK FIGURE «

“Ouch!” said Valerie as she ran into a dark figure right outside of McDonalds.

“Oh, I’m sorry, let me help you up,” said the man. Valerie still couldn’t see his face because the sun was shining right in her eyes.

“Thanks, but it was my fault, I’m sorry,” said Valerie, trying not to sound as stupid as she felt.

“Valerie, are you O.K?” yelled Allison as she ran up to Valerie to see what happened.

“Oh, my gosh!!!!” screamed the two girls as they just noticed who Valerie ran into.

“You’re…… you’re….. you’re Nick…” said Allison in disbelief.

“And… you’re… you’re… AJ…” said Valerie right before everything went black. AJ got behind her just in time to catch her.

“Omigosh, Valerie…. Valerie?” said Allison trying to wake up her friend.

“Let’s go back to my house so she can rest for a while,” said AJ who was feeling a little guilty for Valerie who passed out because of him.

“OK, well, I guess that you know who we are, so what’s your name?” Nick asked Allison.

“Oh, my name is Allison, and that crazy girl in AJ’s arms is Valerie,” said Allison pointing to her friend.

“Well, we better get Valerie out of this heat,” said AJ, leading Nick and Allison over to his car. “Nick, you and Allison can sit in the back and I’ll put sleeping beauty in the front with me, OK?”

“That’s fine with me,” said Allison, trying not to sound too excited.

“Great,” said Nick with a great big smile (Author's Note: You know which one I’m talking about!). They all got into the car and drove off.

“Now Nick, you’d better be a good boy back there,” AJ said laughing.

“Haha AJ! So Allison, where do you live?” asked Nick, trying to change the subject before he got embarrassed.

“Well, Valerie and I live in Washington, we are staying at a condo a couple of blocks down from where we met,” said Allison who was trying to control her excitement.

“That’s cool,” said Nick. He wanted to slap himself for saying something as retarded as “that’s cool.” How was he supposed to impress Allison when he’s acting like a geek? She’s so pretty and nice….. his stomach was flipping and he just met Allison. Nick, you need to calm down, she lives all the way across the country so don’t get too attached! But she looks so cute in her shorts and tank-top.

“Yo! Nick! Are you O.K. man, you’re being so quiet,” said AJ.

“Yeah, I’m fine,” said Nick shooting AJ a look.

“Sure, whatever,” said AJ, even though he could tell what Nick was thinking about. He knew that Nick found Allison very attractive from the start; that’s the only time that he’s quiet is when he likes a girl.

AJ laughed to himself. He looked over to Valerie. She looks so peaceful…. I hope that she will be O.K.  AJ sighed, I hope that she likes me. I didn’t even get to talk to her for long, but there was something that he liked about her. She was pretty and polite….. Allison called her crazy. I like crazy girls, they are just like me, you never know what they’ll do next. AJ looked over at Valerie who just stirred. I hope that she wakes up soon, I just want to talk to her to see what she’s really like.

“AJ, hey man, you're being kinda quiet too, what’s up with you? I usually can’t get you to shut up!” said Nick, disturbing AJ from his thoughts.

“Nothing Nick,” said AJ giving Nick a look.

“Hey, do you guys have some secret code or something? You keep on giving each other these looks…. is there something that I should know?” asked Allison, trying to figure out what was on the boys' minds.

“We’re fine,” the boys answered together.

“Well, we’re here!” said AJ as they pulled into the long driveway.

"Wow, AJ, your house is awesome, it's so big!" said Allison in amazement.

"Thanks, I love it here" said AJ, while parking the car.

"Great, lets go inside and get some food," said Nick as he climbed out of the car, and led Allison to the front door as AJ carried Valerie up the front steps.
