Solid Rock Youth Ministries
Mission Statement
Psalm 40:2 "He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire and set my feet on a solid rock and gave me firm place to stand." We believe in the transforming power of the gospel for all and are committed to reaching out beyond our comfort zones to those in need, by reflecting Christ's likeness.
In December of 1997, I was doing devotions in my room and praying, asking God to give me direction in my life and to use me effectively to lead teenagers around me to Him. I also desired to give those who know Christ as their personal Lord and Savior an opportunity to get to know him better and have their relationship with him grow and increase. On the same evening as this prayer I went to sleep with a restlessness in my heart. I wakened with tears streaming down my face and I could see myself walking into the old carriage shed at the back of my church. I could see teens from my community working on things such as a sound systems and lighting, a coffee counter, or welcoming me as I walked in. I could see a stage at the front with a very powerful logo on the wall and see young people playing praise and worship music. With all this taking place the thing that caught my attention the most was the fact that every teen in that place had their hands raised and were worshipping God in a really pure and awesome way. I would not call what I saw that night a dream I would call it a Vision. Everything I saw has become a reality. Friday nights "Solid Rock Cafe" is the host of several bands that are invited to minister with us. The Solid Rock planning committee is also amazing. The support network as well as the gifts and talents God has placed in the group is really cool. We all firmly feel that we want to see more and more teens lead to Christ through our Ministry. One way we know this will be accomplished is through "Rock Revival '98". What started out as a neat idea of hosting a HUGE concert in a farmers field has grown into an awesome festival at the Lindsay Fairgrounds. I praise God so much for the work he is doing among the teens and the way he is using our planning committee. Jesus is our ROCK.
