First let me start by saying "Thank You" to Ed Roland for the chat before the show. A true gentleman. The show was absolutely amazing!!! This was the second time see the guys for the Dosage tour (the 1st being at The Bowery Ballroom in NYC back when the tour first kicked off) and the second time around was even better as it was a more relaxed setting and ecause of that the guys were so much more into the show and just having a good time. From the opening notes of "Tremble" to the closing song & crowd pleaser "Shine" the guys left very few disappointed. If anything I was only disappointed about not getting to hear "Needs" or "Dandy Life" live. Perhaps next time! And with any luck next tim will not be that far away. Come back soon guys and "Thanks" for such a great show!

I saw Collective Soul here in Tulsa, Aug.1997, they were set up in a building with now air-conditoning, they were fantastic, but the crowd was passing out from heat. I saw them again on the river bank, thinking an outdoor concert would be great, they we e into their 4th song, when some dumb shit, asshole threw a lighter and hit Ed Roland in the face, he went off stage, one of the other band members came to the microphone( I was so far back I could not see who it was, Dean I think)he said, I'm sorry but i s over, said it again, then slammed the mic to the stage floor, he was pissed, and I don't blame him, one asshole ruined it for all of us, the last time they were in town, the friends I went with had to leave early because of the heat. Collective Soul is n exelent band, one of my favorites right now, and I feel like I have been screwed out of really being able to enjoy one of their great shows, because of assholes, and people who don't know where to book a great band like them. I hope they are not too ups t with the jerks we have here in Tulsa,OK, if they should return I will go see them again and again.

COLLECTIVE SOUL IS THE BEST!!!! They rocked the boring and quiet city of Montgomery, AL off their feet! Every song was great! I lost my voice from singing and yelling, and I couldn't hear afterwards, but I was totally worth it! I hope I get to see the again someday! If you ever get the chance to see them, don't pass it up!

Collective Soul was the closing act on a two day festival in Biloxi, MS. It was a really great show, seeing the majority of the other bands were not of the same type of music (Godsmack, Toadies, Jimmies Chicken Shack). You could definitely tell the rence between the earlier acts, and the professionalism of CS. The sound was great, and the new stuff really blended well with the older stuff. I,m assuming "Crazy Train" has become a regular on their set, because they have played it the past two times 've seen them. They did a wonderful job with it! They did a wnderful job of stealing a crowd that was probably there to see some of the other acts. GREAT SHOW!!!

I saw them open up for Van Halen at the Spectrum in Philadelphia in (I believe) late March of 1996. For an opening band who was relatively new (being they just released their second album) they were tight. They put on a great show. I remember my frie d drove his car down to Philly and I rode along. He didn't really care for Collective Soul, but I wanted to see them. We were having trouble finding a parking spot there, so I told him drop me off at the door. I didn't want to miss Collective Soul. I ot inside to my seat (20th row center stage on the floor) just as Collective Soul hit the stage. My friend arrived just as they were finishing their set. All in all, they rocked. I've seen many opening bands that were relatively unknown at the time and now are big. The two that stand out the most are Collective Soul and Candlebox.

Well, they were playing really great, and the conert ROCKED, until some jerk threw a bottle or something, and hit Ed in the head. He's alright, I guess, but they stopped the show. It knocked him to the ground, and when Dean saw what happened, he threw dow his guitar.I hope Ed's ok. I just wish that people would think before they do things, because Ed and Collective Soul are great guys and they are a good band, and it is not fair for people to do things like that. It ruins the fans' time, as well as the ba ds good time.

I had to quit golf practice early to get there in time....and miss my chance at getting a spot on the team....but it was worth it! (since then i have made a spot) But anyway, we ate at McDonalds and me and my gf were being talked to by some queer guy a d we got scared. (Yeah i know Mcdonalds isn't the most romantic place on earth but hey, we were in a hurry) Anyway the Marvelous 3 opened and they were good too but we all wanted to see csoul. Finally they came onstage. I guessed correctly that they w uld play "Tremble for my Beloved" first and i was right. It was an awesome opening. They then played Smashing Young Man, December, Run, No More No Less, Generate, Precious Declaration, Where the River Flows, Simple, Gel, Wasting Time, and as an encore t ey played Shine, Heavy, and some other song i didn't know. (some fogey song) Sadly, the concert ended. We decided it was our destiny to find the band after the concert. We had tried to convince security that my girlfriend was will turpin's neice, but o no avail. This time we tried to find the stage. We got to a door that said "Authorized Personnel Only". We contemplated going through. Then three guys came who had a limo. We asked them if they were in any way connected to the band. They said yes. ..they'd go see if we could meet them. So I was jumping up and down while the other two told us how they knew the band. There story was a tad fishy but i didn't care. That's when they left. It was all a joke. My girlfriend admits to not falling for i although i think she might have. (We then ran outside and chased down their limo and flicked them off....now that i think of it i hope that wasn't collective soul LOL) anyway we went home dejected...ringing ears and all Also I must note that in the summer of 2000 i will embark on a mission to find and meet the members of collective soul. If this means i have to be a groupie or even go to stockbridge...i'll do it. Why? Csoul is the best band that ever will live.

For my 14 year old son, this was his first concert. I wanted to break him in on someone really good...(and there's NO WAY I was going to Korn! *l*)...He loved the show...he sat wide eyed and in wonder the whole time! They were GREAT! He came home and c lled all his friends and I listened as he said..." they were great...I don't care...they were awsome!...they're better than Korn!...I swear...you gotta go see them!" ..*LOL*...I've been a fan since their first cd...(and he's a BIG fan now...along with the friends he's playin the Dosage CD for *g*)...but h d never been to a live show...now I know what I'd missed! I've seen quite a few concerts and I'd have to say this one was one of the best I've been to. They were really into the audience, played great! (so many bands suck r/t!)...even came back for 3 en ores!!! I can't say enough good about them...I love them...own all their music...the lyrics blow me away, the tenderness, composure and sanity of their songs is very refreshing and much needed in this society that force feeds violence in every form of the arts...and most importantly...they have a KICK ASS show!!!!!!!!!!! Go see them...go see them twice...and then go see them again.......and if you have a child who's beggin to go to a concert...make it one of these...It's a night I'll always remember......for more than the show... :) Besides the music...besides the lyrics...apart from the kick ass playing...eye candy...great eye candy! *L* Hey, I may be a mom...but I'm not quite dead yet!!!!!!!!!!!! *L* (and if your kid forces you to a manson concert...take mace and earplugs!) *L*

Hi, Sorta new at this review thing. I haven't attended very many concerts in my life; but I was extremely excited to see CS live! It was a smaller auditorium, so the sound was loud, but it seemed intimate. Marvelous 3 was a great opener -- fast, friendly unes that you think you've heard before, but just can't remember where. CS was all that I expected -- a wide variety of their tunes from the last 5 years "gelled" together -- it really made you realize how many radio-friendly tunes they've had. Ed continu usly thanked us fans for putting them up there, and that they were called "a one-hit wonder" for so long. Ross was incredible, and I was surprised how talented he really is (it doesn't seem that their albums do him justice after seeing how he can re-creat guitar solos live!) Their songs were true to the way they were recorded -- Ed got the audience going for many choruses -- I remember "Where the river flows" w/ him dangling the mic stand over the audience! Overall, i was was deaf for 24 hours after the s ow, but the great memories of it will last w/ me forever!

Hi Guys! Here is my review of the X-Fest concert in Austin and Edgefest concert in Dallas this past weekend. All I can say is: AWESOME! Words cannot describe the feeling that came over me and probably the entire venue when CS took the stage. They commanded the audience and the audience let them. The setlist from both nights was: (Steve and Wolfie, correct me if i'm wrong) Precious Declaration December Listen Where The River Flows Shine Generate Heavy Run The World I Know I Will Follow with Butch from Marvelous 3 on guest vocals on Friday and Max from Eve 6 on Saturday The guys looked very rested and extremely energetic onstage and Ed got the crowd going with Shine and also a short speech on how the critics thought they were one hit wonders and how the audience has proven to these "assholes" that they were wrong! As always, Ross shined on the guitar solos, especially on Heavy and Generate (in my opinion) and Shane rocked on the drums, Dean was absolutely funny with him jamming and jumping around and being a clown the entire concert Friday. Will kept making these crazy faces and making hearts as us lucky people in the front. We got some awesome concert photos during both concerts and also some pictures through the fence where the VIP area was. I will post those shortly. The audience Friday nite went crazy when CS came on and of course I was right in the middle of the wildest area. Some girl put me on her boyfriends shoulders (b/c I thought she felt sorry for me!) and he was dancing around with me on his shoulders and then out of nowhere his girlfriend pulled my shirt up, almost over my head! So, guys, I involuntarily ended up flashing Will and Dean! I am so not like that and I was really embarrassed! Will looked down at me being smushed against the stage on this weirdos shoulders, with an "i'm sorry" face and gave the girl an ugly look. Finally he put me down and I was smushed up against the barrier and they crowd pushed me up high enough where I could see and got some really great close-ups of the band in action. Saturday nite was wild, during CS, The Toadies, and Stabbing Westward a huge crowd rushed the security people and started moshing to the really rockin' songs! All in all it was an awesome experience, being a part of more than 25,000 people who loved Collective Soul! Well that's my post, sorry its so long and rambling. Email me if you have any more questions or if you want me to email you my pictures when I get them

Collective Soul was the main event of the concert here in Dallas Tx known as Edgefest. Edgefest was put on by our alternative radio station 94.5 the edge. They had some good bands at this concert but collective soul was the best! Other bands included the todies, goo goo dolls, stabing westward, the nixons, eve 6, blink 182, lit, tinstar, local H, sponge, Dovetail Joint and marvelous 3. Collective Soul played next to last but they had the best show. After they finished hardly anyone stayed for the last band. Collective Soul is great!!

The venue included about seven other bands, which lasted throughout the day...only one other band was decent..Collective Soul blew them all away! They played about an hour and a half..was the first time i had seen them..the guitarist and drummer were incredible..They opened with TREMBLE FOR MY BELOVED, AND FINISHED WITH SHINE....for the encore they did OZZY'S crazy train. The best were SHINE,DECEM ER,GENERATE...They kicked ass live...Collective Soul is a group for your ASS! They were awesome...they need a little respect from the radio stations here in Texas. The stations here throughout the years only played their ballads, never a good rock song. There was one idiot in his chair down the aisle from us, he was asleep!..WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT? How do you sleep through a concert? some guy next to us was trying to pick up on this dude's girlfriend..and he almost suceeded...was alot of young people there...average age was probably 16 or 17...we were in the 12th row..and behind us they had lawn seats, and all the people were going nu s...slam dancing and fighting..it was wild..im glad we werent there...the other groups were EVE 6..SUCKED...BETTER THAN EZRA..PRETTY GOOD...SOUL COUGHING...WHAT? THE FLY'S...SUCKED....JUDE...DIDNT HEAR THEM...SPONGE...ONLY GOOD SONG THEY PLAYED WAS OZZY'S....UH..LET'S COME TOGETHER NOW...LET'S GEL! THIS ALMOST RATES UP THERE WITH DEF LEPPARD'S 2 HOUR 1993 SET...ID LIKE TO FOLLOW SOUL TO THE NEXT VENUE AND SEE THEM AGAIN!...OUT!

I was blessed enough to have gotten a chance to see your awesome concert!!! Collective Soul was wonderful live! Some bands just don't sound as good as their cd but you definitely sounded as good if not better! The whole performance was great--the music, lighting, interaction with the crowd and giving a couple of encore performances! It made the whole night exciting and definitely memorable! I really appreciate the chance (being a "poor" college student) to see a band as good as you for a cheap price! hank you so much for performing at "little" Winona State! You definitely made it worth the money and time spent waiting for the concert to start!!! and your selection for an opening act--I couldn't have asked for anyone else! Marvelous 3 was spectacular! I really hope they go somewhere with their music! I know I am definitely going to purchase their cd! Thanks again and keep up the impressive work! It is concerts like yours that make me want to go to more! Good luck with the rest of your career and if you come back to this area on your next tour, I will definitely attend your concert! I can't even des ribe how awesome it was! Take care and God bless! =) Love, Jessica =) P.S. Tell Ed I loved the yellow glasses! I was wearing the same pair!

Collective Soul has been my favorite band since the second I heard "Shine". I have seen them in concert 3 times, but the best was the most recent one at on January 24th at The Abyss in Va. Beach, Va. They know how to tantalize and rev-up a crowd to unbe ievable heights, and that's exactly what they did. Ed Roland is the best frontman a band could have. He lets the crowd know he wants to hear them, and makes sure they hear him. Dean Roland tends to be shy onstage, but his shyness makes for an incredibl performance. Ross Childress uses a sea of guitar effects, making each solo different from what you hear on the album. Will Turpin harmonizes with Ed perfectly, and rocks on the bass. Shane Evans is an incredible drummer, making use of more loops than an be counted. I had the privelege to meet the guys after the show and they're just as great offstage as they are onstage. They posed for pics with my friend Julie and I, signed autographs for us, and Shane gave me a drumstick he used to play "Shine", a d signed it. I was also lucky enough to get on the tour bus to snap a few pics of Shane, Will, and Dean. In conclusion, Collective Soul is personable, awesome, and some of the greatest and most talented musicians to ever live!

Saw Collective Soul April 6/99 in Detroit at the State Theatre. There were so many people I'm sure it was a sell out, anyhow we couldn't wait for Collective Soul to come on, the opening act "Marvelous 3" not bad...really got the crowd going. Ed Roland i vited the lead singer from Marvelous 3 back on to help sing parts of a song...(not sure which one...but it wasn't a Collective Soul song). What was great about this concert was the lighting....they'd shine the lights out to the crowd making it noticable just how people were there and gave the band the chance to look as far up to see the crowd enjoying themselves. They came on with Tremble f r my Beloved, then played generate, wasting time, the world we know, gel, listen, no more no less, the ozzy song, a song I really like "blame", came on for two encores inwhich shine was played!! They did an amazing job with that song, also had heavy. I was so surprised at how much they thanked the fans and would stay on stage and clap. Afterwards we got some pics and some autographs, they talked to us and were so mellow...Will asked my name and said he saw me up there singing....I guess that does go o prove that you do get noticed even when your on the upper levels. Love the band.....can't wait to see them again, hopefully at Woodstock!! kim

Ed Rolland didn't stop moving almost the whole time. The music was loud & ot everyone up dancing. I'm glad they play at a small stage because it seemed so much more personal. It was like they were playing just for you. They mixed thier song order just right, not too many slow or fast songs together. This show is a must see. Keep up the GREAT JOB guys.

Some friends and I drove 2 1/2 hours to Vermont to see CS. And, not surprisingly, it was worth every minute sitting in the car. By the time we finally got there, CS had already been on stage for about 15 min so we missed the beginning of the show =( As we were walking up, I heard the very end of Smashing Young Man (one of my absolute favorites!. Even though I was disappointed to have missed that, they still put on an excellent show. Ed later explained that they went on earlier than planned because the openning band had problems of some sort (something about fire and the tour bus was suggested) Anyway, CS went on to go all out as usual. For the encore, Ed came out and said he expected everyone to sing along, which didn't exactly happen!, and went into U2' I Will Follow. After they finish, Ed walked to the microphone and said "You better know ALL the words to this one" as Ross started playing Shine, which of course made the crowd go crazy! And we didn't let Ed down, everyone knew all the words. And o course they guys were very appreciative of the fans coming out to see them. Ed acknowleged that because it wasa free radio sponsered show, there were people from all over. "The CS melting pot", he called it. After thanking the crowd for giving them so much support and CS putting on an awsome show, some IDIOT threw a lighter on stage and hit Ed in the temple, knocking him down. So needless to say we only got one encore. I did hear Ed is fine, so no need to worry. Unforunatly, we didn't get to meet th boys this time but there's always next time!! The only down side, besides Ed getting hit by the idiot's lighter, was that because it was a free radio show and was at a Mountain, there were alot of people there just to see what was going on. So sadly not everyone was there to see CS. But that didn't dampen my excitment at all. I'd gladly drive 2 1/2 hours and stand in slushy snow (having to carefully place your feet so as not to slide down the Mountain!!) just to see them again in a heartbeat.

I finally got to see "My Boys"!!!....It was the best!!...I drove 4 hours to see this concert being this is the closet CS is coming to me.We had 6th row seats needless to say it was excellent being right up there and being able to see the band up close. The opening act was Trinket who did a great job live. The lead singer has a great stage presence. My sister met one of the guys from the band Tommy was his name and got his autograph. As for CS nothing they did was wrong. They started out with Tremble For My Beloved ....Ed did all of his usual sweet hands gestures and was very warm with the crowd. He and Will were definitely the 2 most outgoing of the band. Will was big on gesturing and g inning into the crowd. The whole time the crowd was on their feet!!!It was so cool to be at a concert and know every song the band played!! After reading the other reviews I kinda knew what to expect songs and such.So once the band came out for their encore and sang Shine...I figured the show was over. But the lights stayed down and out they came again and Ed talked about it being opening day or the Reds...and said they had the perfect song to sing. And he said Shane would start them off....with that Shane stood up from behind his drums and yelled into the mike "All Aboard!!!!!"....and they did an excellent version of Crazy Train...I liked it m ch more than the U2 cover. Not only was I dazzled by the fact that I was seeing the worlds greatest band. But the showmanship was nothing like I have ever seen. This was my 1st time to see CS live and I am hoping to make it to their Normal,IL show....I know or sure anytime they are near.I AM THERE!!!!

Collective Soul kicked our ass in New Jersey last week. They did a cool rendition of the song Simple. I have been to a lot of concerts and Collective Soul was the best sounding band. I end this review by saying "you guys rule" and keep making that buea iful and talented music

well, the only reason i gave it a 9 and not a ten was that it was in a bad neighborhood and when ross threw out a pic to the audience, it hit off my dads hand and some bloody roadie wouldnt let me dig under the stage for it. otherwise, it rocked my world! they played crazy good songs (i lifted the set list from where they had it taped down for will to look at (i took it after they finished, i didnt want to piss him off.)) i made eye contact with dean and will, i was a foot and a half from them, leaning on he stage, it rocked! and i shook all their hands after except for ross, shane even came back from leaving the stage just to shake my hand!!!! i was in awe. they are so skilled, i noticed something too, i have also been to a marilyn manson concert (hes one of my favorites too, whether or not people think he sold out) and i noticed that even though CS had no fancy costumes and smoke machines and profanity, they rocked as much as, if not more than, manson. they just dont need all that pazzaz, their talent is ll they ever need! email me to chat about anything if you are interested.

A Fan's Review of Collective Soul at the Bowery Ballroom, March 29, 1999 As expected, Collective Soul opened the show with Tremble for My Beloved, which, of course, is a natural opener. The guys came out on a smoke filled stage with the lighting coming up as they cranked into the post-intro portion of the song. With the ligh s up and Ed center stage he approached the mike, let his guitar hang from his neck (while the rest of the guys played), raised his right hand, gave a big smile and a simple up-and-down hand wave to the crowd. That immediately set the tone for the entire ight - the guys were gonna have fun! They then proceeded into December, which surprised me a little (very early in the set). It paid off as everyone, even the casual fan, was immediately caught up in singing with the band and thereby getting totally immersed into the show. Will was excepti nal with his background vocals on this song in particular. Ed then explained that the next song was a little song and dance number that they had been working on for five years. He also said that it probably would be the next single from Dosage. (I also heard him say the same thing on an interview on a local rad o station earlier in the day. In other words, they aren't yet officially confirming that it will be the next release, but it still does sound as if it was all but decided.) The next sounds that you heard were that breaking glass loop that any serious CS fan knows is from No More, No Less. What was amazing was, after Ed sang "just shake it like this", Ross completely took off and started, well…, uh…, shakin' it with his guitar part (which was way cool as to how much he was getting into it!) Will's bass ine in this song was the true guts holding the song down. They then played Listen and Blame back-to-back. Blame got a full blown concert version treatment: the delicate opening guitar intro, impassioned vocal delivery, effectively dramatic pause in the middle with a full rebound back into the main instrumental ection of the song, finishing with the counterpart of the guitar intro. They played an in-tune version of The World I Know (Ed [and Ross ?] performed a self-admitted out-of-tune version in the studio of a local radio station earlier in the day) that was, as expected, a fan fave. Not only because it was another total crowd si g-along, but, because of the reference to NYC in the lyrics, the place went nuts! They delivered an energetic version of Precious Declaration that got the place boppin' again. (BTW, the sound system at the show was exceptional. The songs were loud [as they should be at any good rock concert] and clear, but not overbearingly loud to the point where your ears ring for hours after the show.) The performance of Run showcased Ed's voice in fine form on this demanding vocal. Although my view of that side of the stage was somewhat obscured, Dean was on the keyboards once again. They tried to do the fade out on the song like it is on Dosage and t was one of the rare (but barely noticeable) awkward moments of the entire show. (The audience didn't quite know when to applaud at the end of the song.) Ed introduced Simple as a song that he and Ross wrote some years ago, wherein Ross took the spotlight and ripped into a solo guitar intro to open the song. (If I recall correctly, Ross had said that Simple was one of his favorite tunes to play live, and t showed.) As they proceeded into the song, Ed started to bring the song down, quieter and quieter. With this opportunity, the guys at the sound board gave Ed's mike a sound affect alteration so that he was able to sing a "warbled" a cappella version of the verse "cleansing out your tarnished heart is simple…" before the band opened up again for a rousing finish. When Ed introduced each of the members of the band, he indicated that the lead guitar work was by someone we (the crowd) probably didn't know, Ross Childress. He then went on to introduce rest of the band and when he got to himself he introduced himself s Patrick Ewing (the "center" of attention, perhaps?) (OK, so now you know the meaning behind my March 30, 1999 csoul.com Crowded Head post "Personal to Patrick Ewing"!) One of the songs that absolutely rocked the most was Where the River Flows, where once again, Ross took the lead with his searing guitar. At Ed's bequest, the fans responded with a full-throated sing along to the chorus. Although not one of my top 5 or 0 CS songs, in my opinion, this one was probably the best one of the show. After Where the River Flows, Ed explained that they like to do a cover song in each of their concerts. He showed some subtle self-deprecating humor (or humility, depending on how you look at it) by stating that "you guys will know the words to this one" hereby he introduced U2's I Will Follow. I went to the show with my sister and brother-in-law (both of whom fit into the category of casual fans I mentioned above - before they went to the show!) and my brother-in-law probably said it best about CS's ver ion: "who needs The Edge?" - and he's a U2 fan! They followed with Gel, which kept the place rockin'. (Wah-ah, ah-ha, ah-ha!) As usual, Ed had his endearingly goofy "I've-got-my-hand-out-the-driver's-side-window-going-60 mph" hand movements (if you've ever seen CS in concert, you'd know exactly what mean!) and exuberant dancing going throughout the show. They ended the show with two encores. The first was Heavy, which was true to its self-implied genre. The last was, of course, Shine. Ed, the ultimate showman/performer, one last time urged the fans to sing along, which of course wasn't necessary. Howe er, before they started playing it, Ed wanted to bring up all of the house lights so he could see us. As he scanned the room, he said he was memorizing each one of us and will be watching to see who wasn't singing. He then emphatically urged the lightin guys to keep the lights up during the song and not to bring them down when they played. So, off CS went with the lights up. My only complaint is that they only played for roughly 75 minutes. In my CS-starved opinion, they could have easily played at least one more song from each of their four disks. My choices would've been: Breathe or Good Night, Good Guy from Hints…; Smash ng Young Man from Collective Soul; Forgiveness from Disciplined Breakdown; Generate, Slow or Needs from Dosage, and lastly, let's not forget the too often overlooked She Said. If this is too long-winded, too bad - I did warn you! However, I must apologize if I didn't get the order of the songs or some details 100% exactly right; all of the above were written from memory and while I was on a CS high! Unfortunately (thanks to an excruciatingly slow waiter in Little Italy), we didn't arrive at the Ballroom until Trinket was finishing its last song of their opening set. So, sorry to say, no review of their work. We did have all intentions of getting th re on time for the opening act even if we'd never heard of them. All in all, a great show by a great band that appealed to the dedicated as well as the casual fan. Highly recommended. If you've got tix for an upcoming show, you're in for a treat. If you don't have tix for a show coming near you…what are you waiting or?!!! It's a "can't miss it" event! LI Jim March 30, 1999

Here we go. Me and a friend took the car down to the warehouse( Toronto ) to see Collective soul. I was dying of excitement - we drove around blasting "shine" as loud as we could with the sunroof open and windows down. Upon arrival we notices - the doors ere 30 mins late to open and there were litterally hundreds of people lined up twice around the block. So...we drove. an hour later we got in and edged our way towards the stage. Marvellous 3 were the opener and they were surprisingly good. They ended the r set and i could just feel the excitement building up in myself and everyone else that was stuffed into the crowded warehouse. There was clearly a problem though - 30 minutes went by, then another 30 then 15 minutes later finally everything was ok. Seems there was trouble with one of Wills amps and it took them over an hour to fix. Didnt matter anymore. AS being my favorite band and this being the millionth time i'd seen them it was the first concert of theirs i had not only been waiting for but the first one where i knew everyword, everysong. I knew that "tremble...." would be first - the lights went out! I cant even explain how excited i was. Tremble for my beloved started and They walked out on to the stage while the music played in the background(the ntro music) and with one bang "the hour has begun"!(ironic huh?) Followed by (if my memory serves me right) smashing young man, then no more no less - which may i say was incredibly good live. The songs followed and followed. All the regulars except for w sting time, and dandy life - pretty much. The first set ended. The second set would be what was the most exciting ones id ever seen. First of all they all came back out wearing Toronto maple leafs hockey jerseys with the names on the back - that was cool. hen they played heavy - this song is amazing live - it has to much power. Then the members of marvellous 3 came onto the stage! followed by Max from Eve 6! what was going on??????? their cover and allstar jam to U2's " I will follow" there was so much ene gy on that stage and all the guys just had a great time. Finally as the night was drawing to a close ed got on the mike and introduced the band finally saying" and just incase you didnt know i'm......moses!" then he gave his thanks and everyone knew what hey were about to hear" the song that brought us all here" as Ed said into the mike. Of course shine was played and It was the perfect end to a perfect night. Ross' solo was better tan ever and the band truly did shine that night. We left thinking it was he best concert we'd ever seen, and probably will ever see, that is until Collective Soul comes out with their new cd and rocks out all over again. If Collective Soul stops by your town dont fool yourself, go get a ticket because this band shines!

INCREDIBLE! I wasn't even a big Collective Soul fan until this show, but now I hooked. This show was one of about ten or so 'warm ups' for the Dosage tour. I went because it was cheap (only $10), but I was blown away! I don't know what in the hell thy are warming up for, but I can't wait to see it. The Abyss is a small venue known more for ultra hard rock and alternative music, but these guys made it sound like the best of concert halls. It was by far the best bar concert I've ever seen and easily on of the better concerts I've ever seen. Their sound was actually BETTER than their CDs. If they are coming your way, shell out the money and go! You won't be disappointed.

I saw CSoul perform at The Cotton Club in Atlanta,GA with a local band called GRA(pronounced like the color). As they came onto the stage, Ed said "welcome to our rehearsal". They opened with 'Where the River Flows', and then on to 'Shine'. It was obviou that the band was having a great time playing and the crowd was definately into it. I was in the very front. It was awesome! Then Ed announced that they were going to do some new songs from the upcoming new album. He said that they were still deciding on he name of the album-'dosage' was one of names he mentioned. This whole concert was so raw that Ed had the lyrics to each song in front of him as he sang, and after each song, he tossed the lyric sheet into the crowd. The first(new) song they did was 'Gene ate', then 'Tremble' (that was what he called it then) It sounded great!!!! They also sang 'Heavy', 'Compliment','Run', 'Slow', 'No More No Less',(not in that order) and what a suprise it was when Ed announced that Ross was going to sing! Ed picked up a uitar, stepped back, and turned it over to Ross. Of course, he sang 'Dandy Life'. Ross sure appeared to be having fun as he grinned during the whole song! The older tunes included 'Precious Declaration', 'Goodnight Good Guy',Disiplined Breakdown','Wastin Time','Crowded Head','She Said','December',and 'Gel'. They alternated the new songs with the older ones...a great way to keep the crowd into it all!! The encore was 'World I know' and 'Simple'. It was awesome! I got the lyric sheets to 'No More No Le s' and 'Goodnight Good Guy' and I also was able to get the set list(with help from my tall Brother-in-law!) I thought that it couldn't get any better than to see my favorite local band,AND CSoul in the front row, hear all of my favorite songs, have the r re privledge to hear 8 brand new CSoul songs.....when the lead singer from GRA,knowing what a huge CSoul fan I am, took me backstage to meet Ed!!! I had the set list in my hand and Ed signed it. It was incredible. Now that 'Dosage' is out, it is cool to re-live it all...it pretty much sounds like I remember. I am checking upcoming tour dates to see them again,it will be great, but not like that night in October 1998!
