H.B.

H.B. Pier Huntington Beach is a medium sized town (about 190,000 people) in Orange County California, which is considered to be the suburbs of L.A. The weather is excellent, with four distinct seasons, summer, late summer, later summer, and early summer. 70-80 degree days in December are no big deal, and rain is almost non-existent (but when it does rain it likes to flood). Even earthquakes are not as bad in Huntington Beach. When northern L.A. was hit with a 6.4 earthquake in 1994, only light shaking was felt in H.B. I think it is a really great place to live. Convenience of the suburbs, close to the city, close to Mexico and Vegas, and a nice beach, even if the surf is crowded and not that great. I am concerned that it is becoming too commercialized, catering more to yuppies than the surfers who made the town what it is. All the family owned fish-taco shops and other things that made the place unique are being replaced by Taco Bell and the rest of America Inc. I guess that is the nature of the suburbs. That and police that will nail you for the slightest infraction (don't even think about jaywalking here), because there is no real crime to stop. But despite the few bad things, it is still a nice place to live and have a good time.
