Me in San Francisco Chinatown

My name is John Robert Fite, and I was born in Seattle, Washington in 1973. I have one younger sister, and I spent most of my childhood in Huntington Beach, California, which is 30 miles south of L.A. After high school, I joined the Marine Corps as an infantry rifleman for four years. It was a very valuable and educational experience for me. After six months of boot camp and infantry school in California, I was stationed in Hawaii for two and a half years and Japan for one year. (For the whole story of my time in the Corps) During that time I met my current girlfriend, Ayako, and became interested in Japan and it's culture. We have two dogs, D.J. and Mika, who love to cause trouble. Also, I am a Management Information Science major and Japanese minor at California State University, Sacramento, and studied at Waseda University in Tokyo from September of 1999 to June of 2000. The year abroad set my graduation back, but I will remember it as one of the greatest experiences of my life. After I graduate, I am not sure whether I want to live in Japan, Hawaii, California, or somewhere else. Fortuneately, a M.I.S. degree and my time at Waseda will give me some leverage to do what I really want to, nothing! Just kidding. After a couple years of working after graduation, I am thinking about returning to graduate school to get a masters in Computer Science or even an MBA if the combination proves interesting, so I gotta get that GPA higher. Right now I'm at a humble 3.3. I heard the good schools like UCLA and Berkeley require at least a 3.5, so I better start getting serious (my friends say that word can't be used in the same sentence as me), or else I'll end up going to grad school at the University of Hawaii. What a horrible fate! :)
