"Thank you Mom and Dad for not Spoiling Me"

Always staying cheerful and happy is what Jessica does best!
(This article is told from the perspective of the writer/author)
***
Jessica's smile and gestures remind the writer of a very famous actress of the 60s, Lam Fang- always a simple, cheerful demeanour, speaking very quickly and yet full of expressions, captivating their audience deeply.
***
"Actually, I don't consider myself "pretty," I guess I am "ok" looking. But I do think that my look has "character," Jessica speaks in her usual, carefree manner while munching on a big chocolate cookie. Jessica is quite content with her body- she can eat as much as she wants and not gain any weight! Jessica is indeed lucky that she can eat all she wants and not gain weight, especially in show business where appearence is so important. Jessica loves to eat; almost anything she can fit into her mouth she likes.
***
Jessica is a very talkative, "sweet" girl. "My companion/boyfriend must be the non-talkative, quiet type. He needs to be a thinker instead of a talker. He absolutely can't out-talk me..." Jessica smiles sweetly when speaking about her boyfriend. Jessica has been pretty lucky since she joined show business. Besides finding success as an actress, she has also found her ideal boyfriend. To Jessica, her boyfriend is mature, quiet, stable, and he doesn't out-talk her. Her boyfriend is very caring toward her. Jessica values their relationship greatly. But when asked about her outlook on relationships, she feels it is best to let things happen themselves; if the couple are compatible then they should be together, if the couple aren't compatible then they shouldn't drag on the relationship.
***
Jessica is not a spoiled person, on the contrary she is very good about getting along with people. Jessica has great "people" skills. "I believe I will be a good mother someday because I was lucky to have parents who know how to discipline their children...Besides providing her children with basic necessities, a good mother shouldn't spoil her kids," Jessica puts down her cookie and talks in a serious manner. The writer hasn't seen Jessica this serious before. "Look at my mom for example. She loves me and treats me very well but she doesn't spoil me... If I want something, she will help me get it in her own ways. When my parents sent me to England to study, I was very grateful. Before I left, my parents told me that I need to take my studying seriously and if I fail classes, they would stop paying my tuition... I thought that was a good and reasonable deal." "After I finished school, I told my parents I wanted a car. They promised to pay the down-payment only. I would need to find a job to pay for the monthly car payments. If my car was taken away for lack of monthy payments, then that would be my problem. I thought that was a great deal, too." After listening to Jessica talked about her parents, the writer realizes that respect is a two way street with Jessica and her parents. Jessica respects her parents, and her parents respect her. It is kind of hard not to spoil children nowaday because ultimately parents love their children and they want to give their children the best. But when kids are spoiled like that, they would want more and more and never feeling satisfied or content with what they have...
***
Jessica has an open, straight-forward and honest personality. She shouldn't have much trouble finding close friends in show business. "It is hard to find close friends in show biz... One of my weaknesses is I talk too much. Sometimes I might have offended someone without knowing I have. Although I didn't mean any harm when I said something, other people might have taken it the wrong way. But I feel pretty lucky because I have found some close friends in the business." Jessica cheerfully tells the writer: "Guess what? My strong point is my ability to make people happy. I can create a happy and fun atmosphere even if I am in a new and unfamiliar situation with strangers..."
***
Jessica doesn't consider herself a "strong" woman. She thinks Chan Fong Anson (a famous business woman/leader in HK) is a strong woman. Anson always manages to stay calm during crisis or emergency situations. Another strong woman in Jessica's mind is her idol, Siu Fong Fong. Jessica admires Siu Fong Fong for her appealing personality and her continuing quest for learning, never giving up (Siu Fong Fong went back to school and received her college degree recently from a university in California).
***
The writer feels lucky that he had the opportunity to interview Jessica. The interview was booked in a hurry, but Jessica quickly agreed to it. The interview was arranged in several phases, and Jessica was very cooperative and professional during the entire interview. Jessica always tried to do her best with the photographer's demands. The writer compliments Jessica for her professionalism.
***
In the middle of February, Jessica, other artists from TVB, and a group of singers, participated in Vancouver's Charity Show. Jessica tells the writer that the Vancouver show was the first time she appeared as a singer. Her appearance as a singer marked a new beginning for Jessica. In the future, Jessica plans to sing more songs for her fans to enjoy. The writer considers Jessica's performance at the Vancouver Show to be good for a newcomer (a singer). Jessica was paired with Gallen Lo again and they both shared a "connection" with each other when performing.
***
Before Jessica joined show business, she made a commercial for a chocolate candy. The writer remembers seeing Jessica in that commercial years ago. The writer was captivated by Jessica's presence in the commerical. Jessica embodied the essence of a modern woman in the commercial. The camera captured Jessica's every move as the embodiment of a modern, "cool" woman. Along with her modern image, the camera also captured her cuteness/naughtiness. Jessica's image from that commercial left a deep impression with the audience...
