King Ghidrah, Rodan, Ebirah

King Ghidrah(old)

The first encounter with King Ghidrah was in 1964. The monster came to Earth inside a meteor. When the meteor split open, the creature emerged and proceeded to destroy Japan until it was routed by the combined might of Godzilla, Rodan, and Mothra. During that chaotic time, it was learned that King Ghidrah had destroyed countless planets, including the civilization on Mars (Venus in the original Japanese version). Earth was to be next. But, fortunately, the monster was driven from the Earth by the afore mentioned monsters, and it came to reside on distant Planet X. The Xians were jealous of us humans, and decided to take advantage of the monster's presence.

In the initial contact with the Xians in 1965, the aliens said that the "Monster Zero" was terrorizing their planet. They stated that the monster had only been driven from Earth by the combined strength of the "Monster Zero-One and Monster Zero-Two", Godzilla and Rodan. They asked to "borrow" the monsters in exchange for a formula for a serum that would cure all known disease. Of course, the people of Earth were welcoming the idea with open arms and the trade was made. In a seemingly staged battle, Godzilla and Rodan "routed" Ghidrah once more. When the formula was accessed, it was discovered that it was not a formula at all but an order of surrender. Earth would continue to exist only as a colony of Planet X!

To "aid us in our descision", the Xians sent the monsters to attack us. Godzilla and Rodan ravaged Japan, while King Ghidrah devastated the United States. Finally, a method was found of removing the control the Xians had over the monsters, and destroy the Xians. After control had been released, the monsters acted on their own instints, and once more Ghidrah was shunned from Earth.

After that failure Ghidrah wandered into the control of the aliens of Spacehunter Nebula M, who wanted to destroy the humans, so they could move in. To assist Ghidrah was the monster Gigan. This time, it was the team-up of Godzilla and Angurus, that sent the two space-monsters fleeing into space.

Ghidrah's next attempt to attack Earth was also his last. After the Kilaaks lost control of the Earth's monsters in 1999 and the safety of their civilization was at stake, they called in Ghidrah to destroy the Earth Monsters. It was a grand battle, but there was no escape for Ghidrah this time. Ghidrah was killed by the monsters of the Earth. Even now the body of the once mighty dreadnought lies beneath the ground of Mount Fuji's volcanic region.

Rodan(old)

Rodan's first appearance was in 1956, when it was found inside gigantic underground caverns in Japan's Mount Aso volcanic region. Apparently, there were eggs remaining here that were dormant, but hatched when exposed to moisture and heat brought in by the mines being dug high above. This makes Rodan yet another addition to the ranks of revived-dinosaur-monsters. At first, there were two Rodans, both seemingly indestructible. At last the creatures were trapped in their den under Mount Aso, where they were subjected to heavy bombing, that caused the volcano to erupt! Both of the Rodans were engulfed in the sea of lava and were thought to be dead...

Apparently, one of the Rodans survived this dunking in the Earth's magma, because a Rodan emerged from Mount Aso in 1964, when it helped Godzilla and Mothra end the Ghidrah threat. Rodan retired to Washigasawa after that incident, where he was captured by the Xians in 1965. When the creature was no longer under Xian control, he was never seen again until he was captured in 1999 and taken to the Ogasawara Islands. He was one of the monsters released during the Kilaak incident, and was returned to Ogaswara afterward.

Ebirah

Ebirah was one of a kind. There was only one encounter with this beast and that was in 1966. At the time the forces of the Red Bamboo, an evil organization that produced nuclear weapons then sold them to the highest bidder, used the creature to protect the island from unwanted visitors, and to keep the captured natives of Infant Island from escaping. The creature was de-clawed by Godzilla and never seen again. It is thought that perhaps Ebirah, defenseless, fell victim to some other ocean-dwelling beast...
