Baby Shanna

Within a twinkling of an eye, it's 20 weeks already. Usually, at this time we would be able to tell whether it will be a boy or a girl thru the scan. Dr Lee does not offer this facility altho' he has indicated that there is strong possibility that it will a girl. Anyway, we decided to spend the extra $200 to go for a detailed scan at the Medical Imaging Center behind Orchard Road. And the scan confirmed that we are going to have a baby girl.

Introducing Shanna Ng Ann Qi - "Shanna" meaning God's gracious gift. "Ann" is the anglicized spelling for "en", meaning grace and "Qi" meaning exquisite (used when defining jade or other fine pieces of jewellery).

Cough and flu

Most of you must have already known that Shuhui is a pharmacist. The job puts her in contact with many sick people. Unfortunately for her, some times she will just catch a cold or cough from the person who happens to be sick and walk into her pharmacy for medication. Shuhui caught a really bad coughing spell from one of ther customers. When she recovered, one of her assistants in her shop caught the flu and even spread it to her. So, she was sick for almost 3 whole weeks which is not exactly the best thing that could happen to her.

How to take care of infants

During one of the Sundays that I went to church, I happen to come upon this brochure from TESS. They are organizing a class to take care of infants - and we are so glad we signed up for it. Among other things, the class taught us on the better way to make sure we have a happy baby rather than one who cries all the time. They also provide advice on which gear to get. Highly recommended for parents-to-be, especially for us first-timers. We also attended the follow-up class that deals with toddlers 6 months to 2 years.

Anyway, the class gave very good advice on how to implement parent-directed feeding which we tried on Shanna...so we thought we could be spared from the hassle of waking up too many time in the midle of the night. What the class did not tell us that in addition to the feeding, there is a lot of diaper changes as well. In the end, altho' Shanna feeds every 3 hours, we had to change her diapers every 1 hour or so. and that includes the wee hours of the morning :-)
