This is a hard one to explain easily. A young girl is one day taken from her home and joins a special force formed to stop the destruction of Japan by a race of beings called Aragomi - she is the Kushinada, and it is her duty to be a sacrifice to rid the realm of the Aragomi, or so the govt. believes. The Aragomi are later revealed to be trying to destroy humans and bring Japan back to a new beginning - believing that humans are destroying the planet - it ends up being a fight to prove the worth of humanity in the face of all they have done to destroy all that is sacred to the continuation of the planet. A very strong story - some decent humor thrown in... artwork - above average, this was a regular T.V. series. Why only a 9? Some may not like such a serious storyline, I personally liked it a lot. There is a special OMAKE ending where they cut-loose and throw humor into it... try it, it is a good solid series, which made it to a second series in Japan... wonder if we'll ever see it???
