nope, i too dunno what it is about roses. i too dunno why valentine's day is all about roses... but yes, i'm a sucker for romance, so i love roses too.
some say love, it is a river,
that drowns the tender reed.
some say love, it is a razor,
that leaves your soul to bleed.
some say love, it is a hunger,
an endless aching need.
i say love, it is a flower,
and you, it's one seed.
etc...
then also there's this poem that i was introduced to in secondary school.. sad poem? depressing poem? sensual poem? i dunno. it really depends on how vivid your imagination is. therein lies the power of words. the ability to carry multiple meanings in its context.
The Sick Rose
O Rose thou art sick.
The invisible worm.
That flies in the night
In the howling storm:
Has found out thy bed
Of crimson joy:
And his dark secret love
Does thy life destroy.
William Blake
to me, there are two types of masterpieces. one is as such - double meaning. the second is as those poems that tug at my heartstrings. those pieces that evoke such powerful the emotions that they make me shudder. such pieces that brings unwanted tears to my eyes..
such as one that i wrote before. check it out on the right.
but yet again, there is this quote that says
"love in your heart wasn't put there to stay.
love isn't love till you give it away."
so despite my resolution to stay away from cupid and his misguided aim, he still found me. and much as i have learnt the hard way how painful love can be, how tear-jerking it can be when things goes wrong, it is like an addiction. no matter how little there is, or how abundant it promises itself to be, there is a rainbow after every storm. there is love in every desolute corner.
sadly, i think i'm addicted to love..
