Performer of the Month of April and May
LYNN HERRING
LUCY COE
Lynn has always been one of my favorite actressses from GH and PC.
Lynn joined the cast of GH in 1986. She was only hired for a short run to bridge a storyline. She ended up delighting
viewers with her wit and style on GH for 11 years (she had a brief time-out for a stint on Days as the scheming Lisanne).
On June 1, 1997, she joined the cast of the GH spin-off, Port Charles, along with Jon Lindstrom (Kevin).
Lynn moved around the country frequently as a child since she grew up in an air force family. She attended fifteeen
primary schools and four high schools. She graduated from Woodrow High in Fairfax, Virginia and from Louisiana State
with a degree in psychology. (She counts Jennings, Louisiana as her home base since most of her relatives now live there.)
She then decided to go to New York to pursue an acting career, despite being accepted to various universities in L.A.
for graduate work. When in New York, she was accepted to study at the Actors Company.
When she returned to Los Angeles, she enrolled at Loyola-Marymount (one of the schools she originally turned down) and
earned credits towards what she called "half a Master's degree." She also began accumulating credits with roles on episodic TV.
In 1986, she read for the role of Lucy Coe in General Hospital. The casting director thought that se was too attractive for
the Lucy they had in mind. Exec. producer, Gloria Monty, liked the way Lynn added humor into her reading, so she got the part.
Lynn is married to Wayne Northrop, formerly Roman Brady on Days. They have two sons, Hank and Grady.
When she was on Days, she told Seli Groves (the author of the book I'm quoting from) that she looked forward to sharing a
scene with her husband, "But it never happened. Sometimes we weren't even in the studio on the same day."
Lynn has been sharing scenes with Wayne on PC lately, as he is playing Rex, the man who kidnapped Serena, the girl
Lucy gave birth to (she was a surrogate mother for Scott and his wife Dominique who was dying of cancer). Two scenes that Lynn
has to do with Wayne, involved Lynn having to act scared of Wayne since he had her by the throat and was threating her.
Now that is acting!!!
While on GH, Lynn played the sexy, intriguing and humorous Lucy. She always wound up in interesting love relationships.
She was married briefly to Tony Jones and Alan Quartermaine before settling down with Kevin Collins.
Lynn is also providing excitement for the GH spin-off, PC. In the first episode, Lucy was stuck in an elevator and being shot at
as there was a hostage situation at the hospital. She had just found out that she is pregnant. Lucy and Kevin also just got engaged.
Lucy also was involved in helping former love, Scott, get his daughter back and managed to pull off the Nurse's Ball again.
All background information is from a book called The Ultimate Soap Opera Guide by Seli Groves.
It is a Stearn Publishers Ltd. Book and was written in 1995.
All storyline information is written by myself unless otherwise noted.
Feel free to comment on whether or not you agree with my selections
and to nominate other PC stars for next month's favorite performer.
