News of Jonathan Jackson's departure

-Jonathan Jackson has decided to leave GH to pursue a movie career. His last episode was April 16th. Before Lucky's death, he was able to make amends with his family members and tell his friends, Emily, Nikolas, and especially, Elizabeth, how much they mean to him.

Jonathan Jackson can currently be seen in the movie "Deep End of the Ocean" with Michelle Pheiffer and is filming another untitled "True Rights".
This talented actor has practically grown up on GH, as he has been on the popular soap for over 5 years. He has won numerous awards for younger leading actor. Lately, fans have been intrigued by his romance with Liz.

Bob Guza on Lucky's death: "Port Charles is just rocked. Everybody mourns but the aftermath is what's really compelling. Luke and Laura really blame Sonny and Jason at this point. [On Tuesday] there's this powerful scene outside the morgue after Luke and Laura have to identify the body. She steps out into the corridor and there are Sonny and Jason, who've been brought in for questioning. Needless to say, Laura doesn't mince words, and neither does Luke. He lets Sonny and Jason have it right between the eyes."

Jonathan Jackson shares his thoughts on leaving GH. "It's weird. It doesn't really feel like it yet because I've been working a lot lately. I haven't had time to sit back and think about it. I've been on for 5½ years, 48 weeks a year. I don 'know what it's going to be like not to have to memorize lines. On pursuing other acting jobs: "I think the main goal is to continue doing films as a long term thing. But I definitely don't want to shut out any TV or Prime-time. I'd also love to keep doing music, hopefully get some of my stuff on soundtracks."
What will he miss the most? "I'll miss the people. The friends I've made -- Tony Geary and Genie Francis especially. They're like my parents in this section of my life as an actor. I'll obviously miss acting with them, but also just being part of a creative process with people who you really enjoy being around."

Genie Francis said: "The feeling is mutual. Jonathan is an amazing actor. I don't even want to thing about [his leaving] because he's one of the people I look forward to acting with -- more than anyone I've ever worked with in my career. There are only a couple of people who I've worked with who are that exciting and have that kind of chemistry, and I will miss that terribly. He's such a fine young man, and there's nobody on the show that can take his place."

Jonathan will be missed by many GH fans. Good Luck with the movie career!!!
