Here's the details, folks!
Let's all celebrate the end of Stephano's Stupid Gas!
Least Favorite Story/Plot line/device
- One of the things that I really hated is how for a while Hope and Franco where totally buddy-buddy and Franco was made to seem like a not-so-bad guy! Franco stabbed some guy and is a Psychopath!!! They seemed to have totally forgotten about that!
I also hate how everyone uses their cell phones in the hospital.
from Miki, in Pennyslvania
- I beleive the worst storyline was the kristan story. They turned a strong willed intelligent woman into a blubbing idiot like most of the other caracters on days.
from Craziladi, in Texas
- Ok...I was all for Austin and Carrie when P.Muldoon was playing the part. But I think almost all of Rielly's wild stories...were just that...WILD!!! They were crazy! I am one that thinks that if you start something you better be ready to deal with the conseqances if you don't follow through!! And that's just what Rielly did...he started something with Mike and Carrie, and decided not to finish it once the fans started favoring Mike over Austin!! This is the one and only storyline that has really gotten me POed!!! Sally Sussman better be what I heard about her. She is suppose to listen to the viewers more than anything else. If this is the case than Mike and Carrie should be togethor soon. If not...someone will pay. I will not miss Rielly..."and that's a fact."<-John Black...I had to say it!LOL!!!
from Trisha, in Arizona, Keeper of all of Mike and Carrie's Magical Moments Togethor!!!
- The endless triangles where everyone has to lie to someone else about loving someone else in order to "protect" someone else.(Susan/Kristen/John/Marlena/Roman)The incredible stupidity of all the characters, especially John and Austin.
from Denise, in Alberta, Canada
- I didn't like the whole Kristin/John story. It was all stupid the way Kristin kept her pregnancy a secret and then it was even more stupid to have someone else that just happened to look exactly like her deliver her baby. What a bunch of baloney!!
i am glad he's gone, too!
from Mary Ward, in Kansas
- The possession. It was horrible. The Franco/Hope thing is pretty bad, too.
from jennifer, in Columbus, OH
- The whole Marlena-devil thing was incredibly stupid.
from Erica, in Alvion, MI
- The "John/Marlena" saga was the first hook that drew me to Days, although there have been many stupid turns in that subplot. Poor Reilly must not live a real life himself, judging from the preposterous elements of his plots. MOST of the peripheral story lines I found quite lame. Just as I was about to give up on the show altogether, there emerged the Mike/Carrie element - and finally a storyline for inexplicably neglected Dr. Mike Horton. Now that would likely turn into an insufferable lemon in the hands of Reilly. Let's hope it can be salvaged. The show could certainly do with some enhanced believability.
from Joy, in New Hampshire
- The stupid hi-tech devices that Stephano uses
from Jen, in Canada
- The character that REILLY Ruined the most I think is Carrie and Austin. And Bo and Hope and John and Marlena and Jen and Jack. Come on this is stupid. First it is not realistic for Sami to be scheming and always winning then finally 3 or 4 years Carrie and Austin are married. Now that Reilly is no longer the writer maybe Carrie and Austin will be married longer than if Reilly was the writer. Bo and Hope because they never talk things. Hope thinks Bo is in love with Billie and Bo thinks Hope is in love with Franco stupid. And Jack and Jen and Marlena and John are really the same Storyline people scheming to keep other couples apart really stupid!
Kristaan96, in New York
- I *hated* the Marlena-possession storyline. I quit watching Days for several years because of it. Nothing Reilly did after that interested me in the least--all his gimmicks, the laser surgery, the VR glasses, the Paris underground, Aremid... I saw commercials for these and was glad I had the intelligence to quit watching.
The one thing that brought me back to Days was Mike and Carrie, and he even ruined that. What an idiot, to find such a wonderful, unexpected chemistry, and then to throw it away.
I also really hate the fact that during his reign of terror, there has not been a single super-couple, just a bunch of super-annoying-triangles. Triangles are a legitimate plot, they just need to be in moderation, balanced out with happy couples.
from Laura, in Minnesota
- The way Sami is obsessed with that duffess,Austin! What the heck does she see in that ugly, wimpy, stupid, boring, guy anyway???? I don't know how the actors and actress can act with the stupid stuff Reilly throws at them! Good bye jim wrongly!!!! And good ridence!!
from lisa, in Delaware
- John and Marlena getting back together is the worst plot on Days ever.
from Rion, in Canada
- The worst of all of Reilly's stories, by far, was the summer of Hell in the Paris underground!
from Ken, in Florida
- The Sami/Austin/Lucas/Mike story.
from Amy, in PA
- My least favorite Reilly plot was bringing Roman back. Especially if it's not Wayne Northrup. J & M's wedding was really gay.
from Mary, in CA
- Breaking up John and Kristen
Dayz Fan
- Bringing Roman back would have to be my least favorite storyline specially since John and Marlena where just getting back on track
after a long four year wait.
from Lisa George, in Philadelphia
- I haven't been watching that long, so the plot I probably hate the most would have to be one where Sami and Austin had to get married to get their kid who was KIDNAPPED for gods sakes! I also didn't go for that whole JL King storyline either!!
from Kel Gilbert, in Toulon, IL
- I hated the Marlena possesed by the devil thing. That was a little far fetched. It made me hate the show, but now I think that it is way better with the new writer.
from Erin, in Ashville, OH
- I can't possibly list all the stories I've hated during the JERk regime--just look at everyone else's comments and that should cover it! I hate how everyone in town has lost their spine and/or their brain. Is there something in the water there?
Also, would someone PLEASE push Franco off the pier?
from Melinda, in IA (ITA on Franco!!!! ---mysti)
- The LADY IN WHITE
from RPCIII, in IA
- Marlena and the devil, Tony shooting himself, the lady in white (OOH JONNY!) and most of all...Bo battling Curtis for Billies soul! WHATEVER!!
from Sarah Cole, in Indianapolis
- least favorite plot device- cell phones, insanity, and Franco Kelly
from Hope, in Indiana
- Finally the loser is gone on with the good story lines whoo
from Heather, in Sitka, Alaska
- Not a plot or plot device, but I resent the fact that JERk & Co. seemed to "write off" all of us long-time viewers as if past DAYS history doesn't exist. Yes, many people have started watching DAYS since Reilly took over, but there are still a few of us who have been around long before he came upon the scene, and it's an insult to us and the integrity of the show when history is rewritten to satisfy absurd plot devices or whims. Hopefully, SSM will show a little more respect for us "old-timers" and at least read through a history of the show and characters (there ARE one or two floating around out there, no? :>}) and remain true to what got us involved in the first place.
from "me" (unknown)
- This interminable John/Marlena/Kristin/Roman/Susan/Stephano insanity.
from Stephen Lowe, in Washington, DC
- People pretending to love someone they don't love, in order to protect them. aka Austin/Carrie/Sami, Marlena/John/Kristen/Roman, etc.
All love triangles and no supercouples! Obsessed people who claim they did it in the name of love: Sami, Kristen, Stefano, Franco, Lucas, Peter etc. etc. etc.
Billie's Rome adventure. The drug story was awful, nothing but constant whining and flashbacks.
from Katie, in St. Louis, MO
- mike and carrie ..this plot works if we could lose the austin part
from Gayle, in Alabama
- I hated the whole FRANCO and J.L king storylines. They sucked big time. I can't believe all the time I wasted watching those storylines.
from Andre, in Texas
- Sami, just being the plan ole witch that she is.That in the fact has just gone on toooo - longgg. Oh and I really hated Austin and Sami having to marry to get Will back , that was just stupid
from Susan, in VA
- My least favorite Reilly plot let's see there were several, the top of the list is the Carrie, Mike, and Austin triangle. They get us all hyped about Mike and Carrie only to have her marry Austin. What was up with that? Also the DUH syndrome, can no one on the show read facial expressions. The worst is the time length that they drug out the different stories. We waited what two three years for Carrie and Austin to get together only to not want them together.
from Crystal, in Kentucky
- That Billie-Curis-Austin thing was seriously getting on my nerves,
from Jennifer, in California
- The Sami/Austin/Carrie/Mike/Lucaus story line!!!!! Leave Austin and Carrie alone and let them be happy
unknown
- Marlena & the devil
from Dee, in Springfield, IL (near Salem)
- The breakup of Bo and Hope and then having Bo marry Billie. YUCK
from Tiffany, in PA
- Definetely those scenes with Billie in Rome, they make me sick!
from Lynn, in Sudbury, Ontario
- Billie on drugs. Nothing but moaning, whining and flashbacks for 4 monthes.
from Sarah, in Alberta, Canada
- My least favorite plot has to be the Bo/Hope/Billie thing. I have never watched anything so boring and long. Just when you think Hope and Bo are going to be together she walks in on them in bed. I don't even want them together anymore. Also the Mike/Carrie/Austin storyline. He gets all these fans for Mike and Carrie just to let them down. What an absolute jerk.
from Emily, in Minnesota
- My least favorite plot was/is the Lexie thinking she is going to be evil like Stephano!!!
from Adam, in Princeton, WV
- Women (and Men) obsessed with another person and mistakingly calling it "love" when is it just disgusting! i.e. sami and austin, kristen and john, stephano and marlena, need I go on?
Enough love triangles already. Let's get some intrigue industrial espionage, anything but characters sitting around whining about how much they love so and so...
The jungle storyline is a nice step in that direction.
Jen, in Pennsylvania
- It's a tie between Marlena being possessed for 2 years or this jungle love he's started between John and Hope!!
from Shonda, in Texas
- Reilly ruined the show for me when he brought Billie and Franco onto the show. I swear, if I ever hear Shawn Douglass ask Bo when they're going to be a famiy again, I'll BARF!
from Rosie, in Milwaukee
- I couldn't stand listening to Bo tell Hope that they'd be a family again once Jill ID'd Franco as her attacker. In one particular episode, I think I heard that line seven or eight times!
from Logan, in Seattle
- Hi There!! GREAT Party!! Okay, in truth I actually LIKED Reilly's stories....for the first 3 or 4 months of each one. But the man beats the horse long after it has rotted. There is such a thing as too much...and Reilly simply doesn't know when to give up. He drains the life out of every plot device, every soap cliche, every possible storyline. Yet he overlooks the obvious ways in which to enrich, enhance, and extend his stories...There is no drama or pathos to DAYS anymore. It is a huge joke, a sick characature of its former glory. But Ive got 24 years invested in my soap watching, and I am not giving up yet...We DAYS fans outlast everthing, we can weather all storms...even bad headwriters. A toast! To the back of Reilly , moving off into the sunset!
from Missi, in Louisville, KY
- I hated the repeated dialogue. Several days I thought my vcr was broken because it seemed like the same thing over and over and not only with the same people but everyone seemed to be saying the same thing (Bo: I am going to tell Hope the truth, Austin: I am going to tell Sami the truth, etc.) Secondly, I hated the pace of the stories. Since I read many of the FanFic pages, these stories move at a reasonable pace. Someone mentioned that you counted the number of actual days occuring on DOOL we would be only in mid-February.
from Michele, in CO
- I'd have to say, I hated the entire show from September 1996 until May 1997, aka "The Hellish Eight Months When Nothing But Red Herrings Happened". That was SO bad.
from Carrie, in MD
- Ah, but there are so many! I'd have to say that my least favorite storyline was the whole Sami rapes Austin, gets pregnant, they're forced to marry by social workers in Paris after their son is kidnapped in order to get him back....puh-leeze!! Oh, and I also have to comment on how much I hate the overused line of "You're the only one I've ever loved" since it's usually not true!
BTW, I love the cyberparty--great job!
from Jen, in Iowa
- OH MY GOSH, where do I start? Well, first were those goggle things. Then there was the Marlena kidnapped yet again. Then it was that stupid trial in Paris!! Actually the whole Paris thing was assinine! I have to say the worst was the wedding of Sami and Austin in Paris to get Will back! How insulting to the French government! And where have those French Social Workers been anyway??
from Megan, in NH
- ALL OF THE ABOVE. I record the show daily and on the weekend, in an hour's time, I fast forward through all the inane plots in an hour. This Reilly person should write for bizarre story magazines.
from Dolly, in VA
- My totally least favorite plot was the Marlena possession. I stopped watching for six months until a friend finally mentioned she had heard it was over. Other than that, I hate nearly every plot that has existed over the last several years. Of course since they never end that really isn't too many. The only thing I can remember liking in the last four years is the Kristen/John romance, when it was good. Before he knew she was a Dimera and when she was torn between Tony and John. Some of the other stories were interesting for the first year, but after so long they get BORING, REPETITIVE, STUPID. Someone needs to tell these writers that there is a difference between suspensful and PREDICTABLE. It has gotten so bad I can even say the exact words the character will say before I hear it, AND I HAVEN'T EVEN WATCHED IN 10 MONTHS. I have stopped wasting my time with this drivel and moved on to better things (Go General Hospital).
from Constance, in Greenville, SC
- There are so many AWFUL stories from REILLY. I HATE the way he has kept Bo and Hope apart and in ridiculous, boring storylines. I HATE the way he put Peter Reckell on the backburner. I HATE even the idea of John and Hope together and John dominating YET another storyline (this one with Hope SHOULD be Bo's). I HATE all his silly, stupid, contrived plot gimmicks. (laser memory eraser, goggles, spirits, possessions, cages and secret rooms. I hate that the arcs are so long that by the time the villain gets caught we all forget what they did...) I just HATE how Reilly has made a mockery of romance, family and friendship.
from Judi, in CO
- The stupid Kristen/John/ Marlena storyline. And What he called a reunion was nothing but a facade! He said that they would have plenty of weeks of satisfaction! Since when is 2 weeks a "plenty" I hope that Sally would have a better grasp of the John and Marlena storyline. Like have them become married and have another baby. Is that so hard to ask for?
from Katie A., in Kersey, PA
- Good grief! Where do I start? Let's see-there was that awful Carrie/Austin/Lucas/Sami rectangle, the even more awful Billie/Bo/Hope triangle, the definitely stale John & Marlena re-re-re-reunion, a hideous fixation by a certain woman on her ex-son-in-law, character assassinations galore, pathetic women, neanderthal men, hypnosis-inducing mirrors, memory-erasing laser guns, VR goggles, bizarre people who lived in the Paris underground..... I could go on, but you get the gist.
But the absolute worst was the possession storyline. Bad, awful, horrendous!
from Cecile, in DC
- My least favorite plot devices were turning all the women into sniveling, spineless jellyfish who lived for their men and nothing else, and turning all the men into brainless, clueless inDUHviduals (and that's a fact!) Enough tea--let's have some doughnuts for a change and get back to the "good ole days", when DAYS offered adventure, romance and interesting characters, both good and evil!!!
from Dianne, in MA
- My least favorite storyline was/is the whole Sami/Austin/Carrie/Lucas/Mike/Kate/Will storyline.
First they make us wait four years to finally get the truth out, then they make us fall in love with the idea
of Mike and Carrie. Then they make Carrie go back to a man that abused their relationship, and treated her terribly. The whole storyline is completely absurd.
from Kris, in Illinois
- One word: CHARADE !!!!!!
from Dave, in East Lansing, MI
- The list could go on forever, but I'm thinking People of the Night in Paris, the Laser Gun, this whole Jungle plot, Chris Kositchek returns to Salem as Roman, KEEPING JOHN AND MARLENA APART and their poorly-done reunion,..etc. But what I really really hate is the repetitve dialogue:
*Jennifer: Peter, you are a good, kind man
*John and/or Marlena: Nothing will ever keep us apart again
*Bo: I love you. Only you.
And various words that are overused like scheme, sham, russe, limbo, etc. Most of all I hate him because he ruined my favorite show (haven't watched in a month!)
from Kate, in Taunton, MA
- First, the satanic possession, second, the fake Kristen
pregnancy.
from SusanC, in Idaho
- In France, when Stefano kidnapped Marlena for that - what - 5th? 6th? time and they had that goofy, insane, ridiculous, stupid, dumb trial for John with the "people of the night." It doesn't get any worse than that.
from Callen, in upstate New York
- Hope convincing Billie to stay in town so Bo could explore his feelings for her. Please!
from Mysti
- How many times John has had a near death experience only to
be saved at the last minute. We should rename him Morris the cat, because the man has nine lives.
from Heather in Pennsylvania
Back to the Party!
