I'm always getting asked questions about Plugs, here are just a few of them with the answers so your curious minds can be put at rest....
I remember seeing a Punt and Dennis spoof called 'Plugs'....
OK, it's a fair cop, guv'. The original idea of spoofing the show came from a sketch by Steve Punt and Hugh Dennis which featured a plot about rigging the National Lottery. The first two episodes of Plugs use this theme, but differently. And my version doesn't have Steve Punt and Hugh Dennis, which is a good thing.
Yes, indeed they have. In an interview she gave when BUGs was still airing in the UK,
Jaye Griffiths (Ros in BUGs) talks about a web site she'd seen which was a spoof of
BUGs. She managed to get the name wrong ('Sugs'???) but as this is the
*only* BUGs spoof on the Net (especially featuring Ted and Bucket) she's definitely
talking about this one.
Oh, and if you're reading this Jaye, I apologise for all the jokes about your teeth. I do
really think they're lovely :)
No, Plugs is a totally unofficial tribute to the TV series BUGs, and so therefore (A) Is written by a penniless student and (B) Probably breaks several laws. And anyway, filming it would involved blowing up several major landmarks...is it worth the hassle?
Plugs is an unofficial spoof of BUGs, I don't work for the company or the show and so can't get you autographs etc. You have to write to Carnival Films for that (see the Official BUGs Page link on the links page)
Is BUGs ever coming back to British TV?
Nope, it's been axed after four seasons.
Look, stop arguing. It's been axed and so that ill conceived final cliff-hanger is the last you'll ever see of it. And before you ask, no I am damn well not going to bother making up an ending for it. Although it's obvious the guy in the front of the car is Jean-Daniel...
It's finished. There will be no more. That's life, folks.
SHUT UP, SHUT UP, SHUT UP!!!!!!
I'm not directly spoofing the episodes, I'm spoofing the main characters and principles. The main exception is the Series 1 trilogy, which is a spoof of my favourite two episodes 'The Bureau of Weapons' and 'A Cage for Satan' (both in Season 2 of BUGs.) The main plot idea for the Plugs episode, 'Ghost of the Machine', is based on the BUGs season 3 episode, 'Renegades.'
The pictures on this site (all copyright Carnival Films etc.) give you an idea of the cast, but just for the sake of a rundown (and to highlight the exception):
TED: Craig McLachlan (Steve Haughton magically takes his place from Season 3
onwards)
RUZ: Jaye Griffiths
BUCKET: Jesse Birdsall
ANNABEL VAN DER DECKEN: Nadia Swahala
DANIEL JEANS: Gareth Marks
Plugs doesn't follow the plot of BUGs exactly. In Plugs, the team begin working for the Bureau of Weapons in series 2, where as in BUGs they are approached by Jan in series 3. And also the head of the Bureau (Annabel) is a very different character to Jan.
Sorry, but no. This is my personal homepage and I'm not writing for profit or anything, and my scripts can't make up for your lack of creativity.
Oh yeah, I forgot how realistic the show is....And anyway, there are only so many ways of writing 'the Plugs team just escape as the building explodes etc. etc.' so I thought I might as well use the on-going joke because basically it's one of the features of the show that they *always* survive, not matter what. Just stop complaining, OK?
Well, they could have done. But PLUGs has finished for good so you'll never know. Gee, I bet you're upset...
