AGENT JEFFERY SPENCER
As a young FBI agent, Jeffery Spencer appeared to be a portage and as a result his rise
through the ranks was quick. However, unbeknownst to him his future was being
dictated from afar by his estranged father, the Pipe Smoking Man, whom was
grooming him for a future purpose. A hardened sceptic, Spencer had a dislike for
Sculder and the Hex Files, especially since his own mother claimed to be an alien
abductee. However, it would be she who would prove to have the greatest influence
on his fate...
Spencer's first contact with Sculder came when the latter approached his mother,
Cassandra, about her claims of being an abductee. (Prophecy Women)
Spencer warned him to stay away, but following the first Rebel attacks Sculder and
Mully kept questioning her. When she was subsequently abducted from the Ruskan
Dam in Mully's presence, it was Sculder whom Spencer blamed. He looked for a way
to punish the agent, and this was provided by the Pipe Smoking Man, who approached
his son promising power... (The End of the Beginning)
Spencer agreed, and when the Hex Files were destroyed and subsequently reopened,
he found himself assigned to investigate them. Under his father's guidance, he ensured
the work did not carry on, attempting to keep Sculder away from anything connected
to his former work. (The Beginning of the End) However, his mother's
sudden reappearance forced him to re-evaluate his position. He was shocked to
discover that, not only were Sculder's claims about the paranormal correct but that his
father was responsible for his mother's abductions. (When Aliens Attack)
This knowledge prompted him to betray his father, and aid Sculder and Mully in their
fight to stop the impending Colonisation of the Earth. Following the Posh Club's
demise, the Pipe Smoking Man confronted Jeffery. And, upon refusing to once again
become a part of a conspiracy, he was murdered in cold blood. X-Files Equivalent: Agent Jeffrey Spender
