Liz came out of her house and got in Lucky's car.Liz: Hey.
Bobbie: Hey, you ok? You don't look so well.
Liz: Yeah, I am fine. I guess I am just worried about the test.
Bobbie: You know, there is probably nothing to worry about.
Liz: I know.
Bobbie drove to Mercy, and when they got there Liz and Bobbie went into an examining room.
Nurse: Ok, Liz, before we do the test I have to ask you a few questions.
Liz: Ok.
Nurse: Your last follow-up test was on Oct 30, 1998. Since that time, have you been involved in any sexual activity?
Liz: Umm...yes...once.
Liz knew Bobbie was shocked at her answer. She could feel it.
Nurse: When?
Liz: A little over two months ago.
Nurse: Was it consentual sex?
Liz: Yes.
Nurse: And your partner, was he involved in any sexual activity before this time?
Liz: No.
Nurse: Ok, is there any chance you could be pregnant?
This question shocked Liz.
Liz: No...we used protection.
Nurse: Well, it is our precedure to run a pregnancy test on rape victims who are sexually active between tests. Now I know this next part might be a little hard to hear, but I am obligated to tell you this.
Liz: What?
Nurse: You have two prior negative tests behind you and most likely this one will be, too. However, in the event the test should come back positive, I need to inform you that you will need to tell your partner, because there will be a chance that he was infected also. He will need to be tested. Are you still with him?
Liz's eyes started to fill up and she started to shake.
Liz: No, I'm not.
Nurse: Well, is there a way you could get in touch with him?
Bobbie could see Liz's eyes starting to swell, and before Liz could answer Bobbie spoke.
Bobbie: Umm...Liz's boyfriend, who was also my nephew...died two months ago.
Nurse: Oh, I am so sorry. I had no idea. That must have been really hard for you.
Bobbie: Yes, it was.
(Silence for a minute).
Nurse: Ok, shall we do the test?
Liz walked over to the chair and sat down. The nurse drew the blood.
Nurse: Ok, all done. We will call you when the results are in. They should be back in about 2, 3 days.
Bobbie and Liz left the hospital. There was silence in the car until Liz broke up.
Liz: Thanks for helping me in there. I was not expecting that question.
Bobbie: No problem.
Liz: Bobbie, look, I am sorry I did not tell you about Lucky and I.
Bobbie: Hey, it was none of my business. Don't worry about it, really.
Bobbie pulled into Liz's driveway, and Liz said goodbye to Bobbie and got out of the car and went up to her room.
When she got to her room, Liz sat on her bed, thinking about the questions the nurse had asked her. But one question stuck in her mind. Liz grabbed her purse and went to the drug store.
