Elizabeth was being released today and Lucky wanted everything to be perfect for her. He had asked his father to bring her to her house when they were finished signing the papers and told her he would meet them there.
He had spent most of the morning cleaning so he could finish the decorations. Everyone said that Elizabeths' quick recovery was due to his constant affection and his will to make her better. Monica had commented to Alan, her husband, a number of times that she had never seen real love until she watched Lucky and Elizabeth together. She wasn't fully back to her old self, but the doctors were confident that she would be in no time.
When Lucky heard the horn of his fathers' pink Caddy he went on the porch to meet them.
"Honey, I'm home!" Luke said as he jumped out of the car and grabbed the bags from the backseat. He noticed the two unmarked police cruisers as he looked around and nodded to the men sitting inside.
Lucky laughed as he rounded the car to Elizabeths' side. She was already trying to step out when he bent over and gently scooped her into his arms.
"Lucky! Put me down! What are you doing?" she was trying to sound serious, but her laughter was giving her away.
"What do you think? I'm carrying you!" he told her.
She started laughing harder and her side began to hurt. Lucky felt her tense up in his arms and rushed through the front door. "Are you alright?" he asked her as he placed her on her back on the couch that he had moved under the window. His eyes went to her side as if he was expecting a sign telling him what was wrong. When he never got an answer his eyes went back to her face. "Elizabeth?"
She had been mesmerized by the room. Her eyes were lit up as they scanned around her. There were gold and silver streamers and balloons everywhere. On the far wall there was a huge banner that read: WELCOME HOME LIZZIE!!! WE LOVE YOU VERY MUCH!!!
"Lucky, it's so beautiful!" She said with her eyes still wide.
He smiled at the expression on her face. "Lu-Lu made it. She was so excited that you were getting out of the hospital. Mom didn't know if she was gonna get her to leave here at all after you came home. She loves you so much. She told me that you're the big sister she always wanted."
Elizabeths' eyes filled with tears as Lucky helped her sit up.
"Is everything okay here?" Luke asked from the doorway.
Lucky stood and went over to him, "Everything's great, Dad." He took the bags from his father and looked back at Elizabeth, "Perfect!"
"Well," Luke said as he walked to the couch, "Laura, Lu and me will be over around supper." He turned to face Lucky, "Your mother knows that you can't cook, at least nothing sensible, so she's insisting on cooking something and bringing it over." He turned back to Elizabeth and placed a soft kiss on her cheek, "You know how she is, always trying to look after everyone she loves."
"Thanks for the ride Luke," she said smiling.
"Anything for you," he turned to head out the door, "We'll be over around six."
"Thanks Dad." Lucky walked over and sat down next to Elizabeth facing her, "Are you okay? You looked like you were in pain before," he gently touched her side.
"I was laughing so hard I made my stitches hurt. But I'm fine. Stop worrying."
"Of all the things you have asked me to do, that has got to be the most impossible." They were both smiling as he leaned in to kiss her.
"I have some things I want to show you, but I don't know if I can walk down the stairs to the basement by myself," she said as she pulled away from him and smiled slyly.
Lucky got up from the couch and gently lifted her into his arms, "Your wish is my command!" He went to the basement steps and turned on the light.
"Lucky, before you see this I just want you to know that I did think about some other things besides you while you were gone."
"Okay," he said laughing as he started down over the steps. When he got to the bottom he came across a door.
"Move to the lock so I can open it." When she got the door open he stepped inside with her still in his arms.
"Oh my God!" he whispered as he looked around the room. The walls were covered in paintings of every place they had ever been. The docks, the boxcar, his parents house. She had also done paintings of just him, lots of them.
"Remember in the journals how I wrote about the times I would paint? They're all here." She turned her face to his and saw he was looking at her, "For anyone who didn't know me, they would think I was obsessed. For that matter anyone who did know me would think I was obsessed. I had to channel my emotions somewhere. I couldn't pretend to be okay around everyone else, without being able to release it when I was alone. There were times when I felt like screaming about how unfair it all was but I knew I couldn't, so, I would lock myself in here and paint."
Lucky gently sat her down on the chair that was positioned across from her easel. He started walking around the room, seeing their history right in front of him. She was silently watching him as he held out his hand and traced a painting of them kissing. A darker painting close to the floor caught his attention and she saw him reach over to pick it up.
"Um, I forgot that one was there," she said nervously.
As Lucky brought it closer to his face he could pick out the silhouette of a couple making love. He then recognized that it was them. The picture was erotic and sensual. It was love in its purest form. He quickly turned to look at her and noticed her embarrassment. "This is beautiful."
Elizabeth reached her hand out and he handed it to her. She smiled even though her eyes were full of tears, "I use to think that maybe this would be the closest I ever got to being with you that way."
Lucky knelt down in front of her, placing his hands on her hips, and smiled, "I know. But you don't have to worry about that anymore."
"Of all the paintings I have ever done, this is my favorite," she said smiling with him. "It made me feel so alive. I did this after one of the nights I dreamt about us making love. It had seemed so real. It looked just like this."
Lucky took the painting from her and put it back on the wall. He began searching the room for a painting of his apartment and noticed there weren't any. "You couldn't paint my apartment." It was a statement, not a question.
"No, I couldn't." He turned to face her. "But," she continued, "I did paint all our special times in there." She went to stand and Lucky was immediately by her side helping her. She started pointing as she spoke, "This is your first night there, this is when you gave me my bracelet for my birthday, and this one,..." She stopped as she pulled a sheet off a larger one that was leaning against a wall, "This is the first time you told me you loved me."
It was a huge picture of them facing each other, and she had the box with the ring in it in her hand. They were both smiling and there were little hearts all over the canvas.
"I still remember that like it was yesterday," he said pulling her closer to him and looking in her eyes, "I was so nervous. I knew that I wanted you to say it back to me and that if you didn't it was gonna break my heart,...But I had to tell you. I couldn't keep it to myself anymore."
"I know. I was going to tell you how I felt too, but I didn't want to scare you or anything. When you said it first I was so happy." She started to cry as he pulled her closer and kissed her softly.
"Why didn't you tell me about these paintings before?"
Elizabeth moved to sit back down and Lucky kneeled in front of her. "To be totally honest, I forgot about them. The only time I've painted in the past eight years was when I was overwhelmed with missing you." She cupped his face in her hands, "I have you right here now, so I haven't even thought about it."
Lucky smiled and got to his feet. He picked Elizabeth up and carried her all the way up to her room. As he placed her on the bed her eyes darkened and he immediately knew what she thought was going to happen. "Hold on beautiful. All we are going to do is rest for a while," he said as he got on the bed beside her.
She stuck out her bottom lip as if to pout and he quickly caught it with his own lips and gently sucked on it. They began kissing softly and Elizabeth ran her hand lightly down his chest. She heard his breath catch in his throat and she pulled away slightly. "Are you sure?" she asked him softly.
Lucky took a deep breath, "Yes I'm sure." He moved on the bed so that he was sure he wouldn't hurt her, "I love you Elizabeth."
"I love you too Lucky."
She closed her eyes and he watched her as she slept.

That evening, after everyone had reluctantly gone home, Lucky and Elizabeth were quietly sitting on the couch relaxing.
"Lucky?" Elizabeth asked softly.
Lucky turned lazy eyes towards her and softly smiled, "Uh huh?."
"Um," she hesitated.
He could tell she was nervous about something. "What is it?" he asked gently.
She let out a breath, "I need a um, I would like to take a bath."
He didn't understand. "Okay."
She looked at her hands that were folded neatly in her lap. "There's only one problem."
He still didn't get it. "What?"
"Ugh." She was frustrated because he was clearly not catching on. "I'm going to need your help. You know, with my clothes and stuff. And I have to be careful not to get my stitches wet for the first couple of days so...," she trailed off.
He was finally understanding. He cleared his throat, "So you need me to bathe you? Is that what you're saying?" He grinned and looked questioningly at her.
"Yeah." She licked her lips and continued, "I don't know why I feel embarrassed, it's not like you haven't seen me naked. It's just..., I don't know."
"It's okay," he said as he touched her cheek gently. "If you want I can ask Bobby to come over and help you."
"No, I want you to do it." She went to stand from the couch and Lucky immediately moved and picked her up.
When he got her to the bathroom that was joined to her bedroom he sat her on the vanity and ran some water for her bath. When the tub had about 6 inches in it he turned off the water and turned towards her. Without saying a word he began to carefully and slowly undress her. He removed her socks, and then her shirt. She was wearing a bandage that wasn't waterproofed so he helped her stand and gently began removing it. He noticed her wince in pain and stopped. "Are you okay?" he asked her concerned.
She smiled at him reassuringly and tore the bandage off and placed her hand over the stitches. "Ouch!!! I know you were trying to spare me any further agony, but haven't you heard that bandages should be removed quickly?"
He smiled sheepishly, "Sorry." He reached out and removed her hand from her wound. He hadn't seen it until now and his eyes immediately filled with tears. It was larger than it would have been had the bullet not been one that the police referred to as a "Cop Killer". There was a large bruise surrounding what would soon be a scar that looked more like a knife wound than a bullet wound. He placed his a hand over his heart, "Look what I did to you."
"You didn't do this to me! Helena and that psychopath she hired to kill you did this to me! Look at me," she said as she eased him up to stand in front of her, "You are not responsible for someone elses actions. I don't blame you and I would do it again. I would die for you." Tears were cascading down both their faces.
"Don't say that. Don't ever say that. I would never let you do that for me." He placed his hands on her cheeks.
"Maybe you won't have a choice. I didn't have one when you decided to give up your life for mine and your family for all those years. But I understand why you did it. You did it to save us, to keep us safe. I just need you to know that I would do the same for you if I had to." She placed her hands on his chest and closed her eyes.
Lucky sighed as he watched her and he leaned in to kiss her softly. "The water is gonna get cold," he said against her lips.
Elizabeth opened her eyes and said, "Then you better hurry."
Lucky was still upset by the things she had said but he also realized that he couldn't argue with her about this so he smiled and returned to undressing her. He gently pulled her track pants down to reveal her white lace panties. "Please tell me you didn't let any male doctors see you in these."
"Well, not these exactly," she said sweetly, "the black, pink and blue pairs I have just like them."
Lucky licked his lips, "Ha Ha, that's really funny." He stood up and undid the clasp to her bra that matched her panties and slowly revealed her breasts. He let out the breath he had been holding as he bent down to pull down her panties. As he stood back up he placed a feather light kiss to her abdomen. He unwrapped the packaging for the new bandage and gently pressed it to her skin.
As he nudged her towards the tub she looked at him expectantly, "Aren't you going to get undressed?" she asked.
"What? Why?" he asked.
She took hold of the hem of his T-shirt and lifted it slightly, "Because I want you to get in with me. You wash my back, I wash yours?"
He laughed softly as he put his hands around hers, "Elizabeth," he said taking a deep shaky breath, "I'm already having thoughts that I shouldn't be having because of your state, if I get in there with you it'll be pure torture. Is that what you want? To torture me?"
"No, I don't want to torture you. Just promise me that when I'm better we'll get in here together okay?"
Lucky helped her into the tub, "You've got yourself a date."
When she was seated he took the washcloth and dipped it in the water and lathered some body wash on it. He started with her back and her arms gently massaging her muscles as he washed. She turned to face him so he could get the front and they were both smiling the entire time. He helped her stand and took extra care as he washed the area around the bandage. He knew that the bandage could withstand some water but that he couldn't soak it. She put her hands on his shoulders to steady herself as he washed her legs and feet and when she turned around it took him a few seconds to remember what he was doing. He was mesmerized by the soap slowly sliding down her body. He cleared his throat and began again. His hands were shaking slightly as she turned around again to face him. He stood slowly and stared at her.
"What is it? What's wrong?" she was growing concerned.
"You haven't the slightest clue how incredibly beautiful you are do you?" His voice was low and his expression was of pure awe. He watched as she slowly brought her hands together at her waist, skimming them across her skin. It was a totally innocent action but it made Luckys' breathing and pulse accelerate. "I'm sorry. I don't know why I can"t seem to control my emotions or my hormones. I want to make love to you so badly right now." He took a deep breath as she reached her hands towards him. As he stepped closer he reached for her face, "Every little gesture, the way you tuck your hair behind your ears, the way you brush your hair, the way your eyes look in the moonlight, and especially the way they look when you look at me. Everything about you is mesmerizing. It's like food to my heart, body and soul."
Elizabeth had stared at his mouth the whole time he had been talking. "Kiss me Lucky."
He let out a breath and closed his eyes, "I want to believe me, but I know that if I do I won't want to stop. So, I'll wash your beautiful hair for you and then we'll go to bed and go to sleep."
She was disappointed but smiled anyway, "Alright. But we have a serious amount of catching up to do when I get well enough. I can't wait."
He smiled back at her, "Neither can I. Neither can I."

Monday, June 22, 2007
Elizabeth was finally able to get around on her own and she was loving every minute of it. She didn't realize how much she took the ability to take care of herself for granted until she wasn't able to. Lucky had been taking wonderful care of her, but she needed to do things for herself. Besides she had a doctors appointment this morning and she knew she was going to get a clean bill of health.
When Lucky and Elizabeth stepped off the elevator they saw Bobby standing at the nurses station and walked over to her.
"Hi Aunt Bobby." Lucky greeted her.
"Well Hello. Elizabeth how are you feeling?" she asked gently.
"I am doing so much better. I'm almost one hundred percent. Now all I need is for my doctor to tell me that so that I can get on with my life." She reached around and grabbed Luckys' ass as she finished what she was saying making him jump.
"I'll let Monica know that you're here." She smiled at them and left.
Lucky grabbed Elizabeths' hand as she went to sit on the chairs across from the desk. "What do you think you're doing? Bobby saw what you did you know?"
"I know." She walked to the chairs and sat down.
Lucky was laughing as he sat down next to her. He stopped after a few seconds and stared at her. When she looked at him he took her hand and asked, "Everything is gonna be alright. You do believe that don't you?"
"Of course! I'm not pretending to not be worried. I feel great and I'm healing perfectly. Don't worry." She brought his hand to her mouth and kissed it softly.
Bobby came out shortly after and told her that Monica was ready for her.
"Aren't you coming?" Elizabeth asked Lucky when she realized he hadn't made a move to get up with her.
"I thought you would want me to wait out here for you, the way I use to," he said smiling at her.
She reached down and grabbed his hand, "Come on Spencer!"
Monica was seated behind her desk going over Elizabeths' files when they entered her office. "Hi Elizabeth, Lucky."
"Hi," they both greeted. "So, what's the verdict?" Elizabeth asked her as they sat down.
"Not so fast," she said laughing. "I need to examine you first, run some tests, and," she said more seriously, "there is something I need to discuss with you."
"What is it?" she asked her but looking at Lucky.
Monica sat still for a second. "This is kind of private. Are you sure..."
"I don't have any secrets from Lucky," she said as he took her hand and held it tightly, "Please just say it."
"Very well. Due to the proximity of the bullet and the tissue damage that occurred because of it, your fallopian tube on your right side has been seriously damaged." She stopped when she saw the confusion on both their young faces.
"What exactly does that mean?" Elizabeth asked her softly as she tightened the grip she had on Luckys' hand. She looked at him as she asked, "Does that mean I won't be able to have any babies?"
"No!" Monica stated vehemently, "I want to examine you, do an ultrasound so that I know exactly what we are dealing with okay?"
