Some Things Never Change - Chapter 12

by: Jess

Lucky picked up the picture. His son. He had a son. He looked just like him. The baby was smiling. He was probably about ten months in the picture. "My son?"

"Yeah Cowboy. They live on Sonny's island in Pourto Rico. They have all along. She said she couldn't stay because everywhere she turned she saw you, and a memory. We visit all the time. He knows us. Jason, Sonny, and Carly are the Godparents. Liz picked them because they were the ones who helped her. Emily and Prince Nikky were a little hurt but they understood."

"His name? What's his name dad?"

"Lucas Lorenzo Spencer the third. We call him Lorenzo."

Lucky smiled. His son was named after him. His son. He was still n shock. "What's he like?"

"Why don't you come to the brownstone with me and find out?"

"I thought they lived on an island?"

"They're here for the wedding. Roy and I can take you in the back way. After all the non-family and friends leave we'll bring you in."

"Yeah. Okay. Let's go."

When they got to the brownstone Roy took Lucky upstairs. Lucky told him who he wanted there when he came down. Roy said okay and he'd take care of it. He wanted Jason and Carly there so it was a good thing they decided against a honeymoon.

Luke looked around. It was only Laura, Bobbie, Nikolas, Gina, Emily, Sonny, Carly, Jason, and Lorenzo was asleep on the couch. Lucas, Michael, and Lulu had gone with Betty to give the adults time, and Juan had to work. He nodded at Roy to go prepare Lucky. "Excuse me everyone." When everyone had his attention Sonny yelled.

"Hey Luke I'm the best man I do the toast."

Everyone laughed and Luke said, "this ain't no toast partner. I'm about to make my niece's wedding day more special for everyone here. Um Roy and I, actually it was Roy. See he was driving…Look all I can say is hang on to your seats cause your about to see something that'll knock the socks off of ya."

"Luke what's going on?" asked Laura. As soon as she said that all eyes went to the door Roy had just come out of. Lucky was behind him so no one saw him. As soon as the door shut Lucky took a deep breath and stepped out from behind Roy. The room fell so silent no one even breathed. "Oh my God." Laura ran to Lucky. She hugged him with everything she had. He hugged her the same but his eyes never left Elizabeth.

"Hey mom." Was all Lucky said.

She was seeing things. She had to be. Laura couldn't be hugging him. Not right now. Everyone was staring at Lucky. Some kept glancing back at her. Laura let go of him only to hug him again. Luke came over and pulled her off him, "Laura baby, let him go." He knew his son wanted to go to Liz. Laura looked up at Luke and he nodded in Liz's direction. She let go of her son. "Go son."

Lucky hadn't been able to keep his eyes off her. She was so beautiful. She still looked the same only a little chunkier. A little taller to. "Elizabeth?" he said softly.

She was crying. She didn't know weather to hit him or run to him. She was aware of everyone watching them. She walked towards him until she was right in front of him. "Are you real?" She knew it was a dumb question but after all the dreams, she had to be sure.

"As real as I can get baby."

"Oh Lucky." She said before she threw herself into his arms. He held on to her tighter than he ever had before. She did the same. They were both crying and neither seemed to realize that anyone else was in the room.

"I'm sorry baby, I'm so sorry." He said as he hugged her and stroked her hair.

She looked at him and touched her hand to his cheek. "You died. I…I saw them take you out in the bag. I saw your necklace."

"I didn't baby I didn't. It was all a set up to hurt my dad. Elizabeth I'm right here I didn't die in that fire. I'm sorry this hurt you so much. God I never wanted you to hurt like this again. I swore I'd never let you but because of me you did."

"No… Lucky you…I don't…" She didn't know what to say. Or she didn't know how to say it. She wanted to ask him what took him so long, where he'd been. Instead she just hugged him again.

"I love you so much Elizabeth. You are what kept me alive. You are the reason I am here right now. I promise you that I will never leave you again."

"Lucky where were you? What happened?" asked Sonny breaking the silence.

Lucky looked at his dad and Roy. "Later Sonny." He knew his son didn't want to go through that right now.

"No! Lucky I need to know." cried Liz. "It's been three years. Why didn't you come home sooner? Why did you leave me?"

"Elizabeth I didn't. I had no choice. There were so many of them and I couldn't do anything. I was locked in a room and I tried to get out. I tried so hard. But she said she would hurt you. She said if I ever got out you'd be killed. I couldn't do that. I couldn't let her hurt you. I would rather have died." He took her hand.

Everything was quiet after his outburst. It didn't look like Liz was going to say anymore. Bobbie and Emily had held back long enough. They both rushed to him and he hugged them each telling them how much he missed him. He noticed that Nikolas hadn't moved. He looked at his brother and then Liz. He didn't want to leave her side. She let go of his hand, and smiled slightly. He walked over to where Nikolas stood. His brother had unshed tears in his eyes. Neither of them said anything. They both reached out and hugged the other at the same time. It was the closet they had ever been. Lucky had never hugged him or told him he loved him. Neither had Nikolas. When they looked at each other again Nikolas said the last thing he expected, "It was Helena wasn't it?"

Lucky took a step back and looked at his brother. He didn't want to tell him. Nikolas would be crushed. But he had to. "Yeah. Her and Caesar Faison." He heard Bobbie and Laura gasp. "You couldn't have known."

"She hinted but I never got it until now. A few weeks ago I was on the docks. She said that someday this whole town would be lucky. She had said your name different but I didn't think anything of it. She said we'd be lucky and then it would all be ripped from us again. I should have seen it. I should have known."

"Nikolas don't blame yourself for this. I worked with Faison for months before I found out who he was. I worked with the man and he had my son." Said Luke.

"She's here you know. I saw her on the yacht this morning." Said Emily.

Luke got the dangerous look in his eye, and he started to walk towards the door. "Dad no!" he stopped and looked at Lucky. "Don't go after her." He knew his father taught him never to be afraid of the enemy but he was terrified of Helena Cassidine.

"I have to Cowboy."

"If you do…if you go after her right now, and you don't succeed she'll hit back. Even if you do kill her what if she is working with someone? What if Ari decides to take revenge? You don't want that dad. I can't let you do it. I don't want anyone to go through what I did. What if they take Lulu, or mom, or anyone else that we love. Dad she gets off on torturing people." Lucky was yelling at his father who still hadn't back down he could tell by the look in Luke's eyes. "I don't want to wake up one morning to find that someone that we love is gone or that I'm back in a cell. You may think you know what she's capable of dad but you don't."

"Luke he's right. Please don't do this?" begged Laura.

"I have too." He said.

"Can you see Lulu in a room. A little one made of steal." Lucky walked closer to his father. "Can you see the guards come in and beat her until she was hurting so bad she couldn't fight back anymore, then lay there while they beat her into unconsciousness. Can you see her getting little bits and pieces off information about the people that she loves? Watching her own memorial service and seeing how much her 'death' has hurt someone. I can't dad. I can't picture that happening to anyone else. Its hell dad, its pure hell, trust me I know. Helena will be waiting for you to strike back. She'll be waiting and she'll be ready. She's always ready. Dad? Please don't go, stay here."

Luke closed his eyes. "I'll stay."

Elizabeth walked up to Lucky. "That happened to you?"

"I was talking…I was talking hypothetically."

"Don't lie to me. No lies remember?"

Lucky took a deep breath and looked around the room at the worried looks on all his family's faces. He looked at his mom and then back to Liz. "Yes that happened to me."

Before anyone could say anything else Lorenzo started to cry. He'd woken up and heard all the yelling. As soon as he saw Liz was crying he started to cry.
