Some Things Never Change - Chapter 3

Sonny had fallen asleep on the plane. They'd been in the air about two hours. He had talked to her about the baby and she had told him she wanted it to be just like Lucky. She remembered when Lucky had first talked to his mother after he found out Luke raped her. He had come to her and she'd been scared cause she had never seen him so scared. He had admitted to being afraid of following in his father's steps. He said he had wanted to be Luke when he was growing up and he was scared that would happen.

"What if I have to much to drink? Or I think I am going to die and I see some girl I have a crush on, or God forbid an obsession with? What if theirs music playing? Or I'm walking through the park and I see some girl sitting on a bench and I think to myself 'why not, know one would no about it!"

"Lucky listen to me! You could never do that and even if you don't know that I do!"

"Maybe you don't know me, maybe you just think you do!"

"Just stop! Stop this! Jeez, Lucky you slept on my floor, by my bed and you watched over me while I was sleeping. It was like an Angel came to earth to help me. I trust you with my life!"

The conversation had ended a little while after that and they had sat on the bench at the docks. Lucky had fallen asleep with his head on her shoulder and she had sat there brushing the hair back from his face. "Hey? You okay?"

Liz looked up to see Sonny standing in front of her. She hadn't noticed that she was crying. "I was thinking about him. Sonny he was so great and now I am going to have his child and this baby won't know its father. It won't know how wonderful, and caring, and protective he was. It's not fair. It's just not fair." Sonny reached over and hugged her.

"Your child, Lucky's child will know his father. Everyone who loves you and loved Lucky will make sure of that. I know you will. When he gets old enough you can tell him about all the times you had with his dad."

Liz smiled, "Him huh?"

"Sorry, habit." He said glad to see her smiling. "Why don't you tell me something. The first story about Lucky and you that pops in your head. Maybe it will help to talk about him." he sat down. He didn't look like he expected her to start talking.

Liz thought about it for a few minutes. She didn't want to say anything a first and she knew Sonny wouldn't mind either way then she smiled and said, "Lucky asked me to meet him at Luke's club one day. I got there and no one was there but Lucky. There was one table set and it looked so beautiful. We joked around for a while about the food, we were having a great time then Lucky looked at me…

"I have a confession to make."

"Okay."

"You see…something's been… rolling around in my head and, and I can't ignore it anymore. It's impossible… for me to imagine wanting to be with… anyone else. I was kind of hoping maybe you'd consider being my girl. Officially."

"Lucky I already am."

"Then that's a yes?"

"Yeah, yes!" Then he stood up and held his hand out to me. I asked… "What are we doing?"

"Dancing."

"Lucky there's no music."

"Wait, wait you hear that?"

"No." Then he told me to shh, and he started singing My Girl. We stood there and we danced and I was so happy and he was so happy. It was wonderful." She looked up at Sonny kind of embarrassed.

"It sounded wonderful."

Jason waked up the porch to Luke's house. He knocked and Roy answered the door. "Hey. Is Luke here?"

"Yeah. Yeah come on in. Hey Luke!" he yelled when Jason got in and the door was shut.

Luke came into the room carrying Lulu. He was smiling. Jason suddenly felt the urge to run. "Oh no. Why is it every time you come to see me I think something's wrong?"

"You should get Laura. I have something to tell you both."

Laura came into the room then and stopped when she saw Jason. She was still icy to him and Sonny even know the fire had turned out to be an accident. "Jason. What are you doing here?"

"I came for Elizabeth Laura. She asked me to come."

"She's not hurt?" asked Luke.

"Lizzie's hurt daddy?" said Lulu.

"Hey Lulu, how about we go into the kitchen and play with Foster?" said Roy. She smiled and held her hand out to him. The two of them left the room.

"Jason is Liz okay?" asked Laura.

"She's fine. But she left Port Charles. I told her I would tell you why. She'd like it if you can tell Mrs. Hardy after I tell you."

"Why did she leave?" asked Laura.

Jason took a deep breath, they were both sitting so he took a seat in the chair opposite them. He was always the one giving bad news. At least this wasn't as bad as Sonny and Brenda's wedding. "She had too. She said everywhere she turned in this town all she could see was Lucky, she was sick of people asking her how she was doing and pitying her."

Luke looked at his friend, "There's more."

"Yeah. Elizabeth is a little over five months pregnant with Lucky's child. She was afraid Audrey wouldn't let her keep the baby."

"Pregnant? Oh God Lucky's baby." Laura was crying.

"Jason where did she go? You know?" asked Luke.

"Yeah. I promised I wouldn't tell anyone where she was. Including you Luke. She doesn't want anyone to know. I'll be in touch with her if you want to leave her a message."

"Ask her to call us Jason. Please." Said Laura. Jason nodded and walked towards the door. Before he could leave Laura said, "Please don't let anything happen to her."

"I won't. Nothing can touch her where she is."

Roy heard the door shut and came into the room. "Everything okay?" After Luke moved back in Roy had offered to leave but Luke had insisted that he stay.

"Jason just informed me that Elizabeth, I told you about her right?"

"Your sons girl friend?"

"Yeah. Well she left town and she's pregnant with my boy's kid."

Lucky was going nuts. It had been three months since he had seen anyone but the guards. That meant he had no news on Elizabeth. He wondered if she had gone back to Port Chuckles yet. He was sitting at the computer playing a strategy game that one of the guards had given him, when the door opened. He turned and his mouth fell open. "Hello Lucky."
