It seemed like only moments had passed, when Elizabeth rolled over and found light flooding through the window. For a second she wasn’t sure where she was. Then she felt Lucky move next to her. She couldn’t believe how good it felt to wake up next to him! She gently nudged him and kissed him on the cheek. “Wake up sleepyhead.”
Lucky moaned and tried to wake up. He had been deep in a dream about Elizabeth. Slowly he blinked himself awake, half surprised to see her there, then remembering where he was. “Man you look good in the morning.” He pulled her to him and kissed her.
“Yeah, I’m a charmer,” Elizabeth grinned at him and smoothed her hair. “We’d better get moving before Comm. Scorpio and Lt. Taggert get back. Did you pack a hairbrush or toothbrushes in that backpack?”
Lucky rolled out of bed. “If you need it; it’s in there.” Elizabeth was digging in the backpack.
“You’re not kidding,” she laughed.
There was a knock at the door. Lucky motioned Liz over to the door. “Who is it?” she asked.
“Mac,” Mac had been up all night devising their strategy. He did not intend for Faison to get away.
Elizabeth opened the door. Mac, Felicia, Taggert, and Office Johnson walked in. Felicia went over to Liz immediately and gave her a hug. She turned to Lucky, but the scowl on his face told her to keep her distance. Taggert was carrying a box of donuts and cups of coffee for everyone.
Before Lucky could say anything, Mac spoke. “Before you get all bent out of shape, I have very good reasons for Felicia being here. Number 1, she’s a good investigator; we may need her skill. Number 2; you don’t want Elizabeth to be alone today while we go out to the compound. Number 3, Felicia knows Faison. Number 4, she may be able to help us get in touch with Luke.”
Lucky was still mad that more people knew about him, but kept his mouth shut. Quickly Mac outlined the plan for the day. Officer Johnson would take Felicia and Elizabeth up to Kevin Collins’ cabin on Jasmine Island. This would get Elizabeth out of Port Charles with people she wouldn’t normally be around. That should throw off any of Faison’s goons that were watching her. He already had extra guards watching Liz’s house, Kelly’s, the Scorpio girls, Luke’s Club and Nicholas just in case there was trouble. To make sure nothing happened; he’d asked Sonny, without explaining anything, to put some of his men at each of those places too. Lucky would ride out to the compound with Mac, Taggert, and Garcia. Mac continued to outline the details of his plan.
Lucky interjected a few suggestions and was pleased that Mac seemed to listen to him. The plan sounded workable and he was anxious to set it in motion. Finally Mac finished explaining, and they all got up to leave. Lucky looked around at Elizabeth. He knew she was afraid. Having Felicia with her would help.
Oblivious to the others, she went to Lucky and put her arms around him. “Please be careful,” tears started to shine in her eyes.
Lucky wiped away her tears and kissed her gently. “I’ll be OK. I’ve got to do this Elizabeth. I’ll be back before you know it. I promise.” He kissed her again, then headed out with Mac and the others.
Elizabeth sat down on the bed and let the tears flow after the door closed. Felicia held her and let her cry. Officer Johnson was standing around looking extremely uncomfortable. Felicia tried to soothe Elizabeth’s worry. “They’ll be OK. Mac will make sure of it. We have to believe that, OK?” She motioned for Officer Johnson to wait outside. “Would you like to freshen up a bit before we go?”
“Actually Lucky packed a lot of stuff in that backpack, but he didn’t pack much in the way of extra clothes.”
“Hmmm, we’ll send someone shopping for you, how does that sound?” Felicia’s nose crinkled at the thought, “Officer Johnson out there would just love that!” Liz smiled. “Now we really do need to leave. Mac wanted us out of here as quickly as possible. Here why don’t you put on these sunglasses and this cap—just in case someone’s watching.” Felicia looked around to see what needed to be gathered up. They quickly got everything together and left.
