Solo awoke
Time machine alarm just gone off, which means the countdown is complete.
Now what???
Solo jumped up off the table and ran over to the machine. Paul, Tim,
Richard and Flacco followed close behind.
Richard leaned over and pinched Solo.
"Ouch!" she cried.
"Yep, she's awake." Richard replied. Then Richard and Tim slowly looked
at Paul.
"How'd she wake up mate?" Tim asked.
Paul just looked away.
Richard tugged on Paul's sleeve. Paul looked down at Richard's hand
pointedly…"what have I told you about touching me Rich?"
Richard quickly moved his hand and muttered 'sorry."
"How'd ya do it mate?" Tim asked.
Paul didn't reply.
Solo stared intently at the computer screen. She didn't turn around.
Tim clicked his fingers and slapped his forehead… "Of course – delayed
reaction. I mean naturally it was my kiss that woke her, it just took a
while to register."
Solo spun around.
"You kissed me?" She demanded incredulously.
Tim nodded his head wildly. Solo looked at Richard…his face had turned
and interesting shade of red.
"Rich? You too?" she asked.
Damn, why couldn't she remember? Oh she could remember the dream all
right…and Paul, but what else had happened while she was asleep?
Looking back to Tim, Solo decided that she didn't want to know. She
then looked over at Paul. He was staring back at her intently.
Tim looked at Solo and then at Paul and then back to Solo.
Richard looked at Solo and then at Paul and then back to Solo.
"Did I miss something?" Richard asked.
Paul glared at Richard… "Miss something? No, you didn't miss something
Rich…you and Ferguson didn't miss anything! Solo just woke up. That's all.
Now you, girly." Paul turned to Solo… "Fix the damn machine and get lost.
You've wasted enough time already."
Tim turned back to Solo again. "Really, you just woke up?"
"Sure Tim, I don't remember what happened I just woke up."
Paul glared at Solo – Solo glared back.
Girly huh? Fine then! Solo thought and Turned back to the computer.
She missed the look Flacco shot Paul. Paul glared at Flacco and shook
his head. Flacco hit Paul in the back of the skull.
Solo moved the mouse and the screen saver disappeared from the screen.
Bill Gates appeared at the bottom of the screen, still riding that
flying window.
The box across the screen was now completely blue. The words 'DOWNLOAD
COMPLETE' flashed on the panel below it. A small box appeared and reminded
Solo to shut down and reboot the system for the changes just downloaded
to take effect. "Remember, Some files may be lost during transfer!"
Solo clicked the shutdown button.
Another box appeared. "Are you sure you want to shut down?" Solo hit
enter and pushed the power button to 'OFF'
Immediately the whole ship was plunged into darkness.
"Tim! Get your hand off my thigh!" Solo cried.
"What makes you think it's me?" He replied from right beside her.
"What time is it?" Flacco demanded.
"How long has it been?" Richard asked.
"Are we there yet?" Paul winged.
"Thirty seconds, now shut up all of you!" Solo yelled back and quietly
continued counting to herself.
"I can't breathe!" Tim announced several seconds later.
"Of course not." Paul gasped, "We had to shut down the system remember…that
includes life support dumb dumb!"
"Oh yeah!" Tim replied.
As Timothy was the tallest, he was the first to be affected by the
lack of oxygen.
Tim collapsed to the floor beside Solo, with a loud 'SMACK' completely
unconscious.
Flacco and Richard followed several seconds later.
Paul leaned against the computer desk and gasped for air.
Solo turned to look at him.
"This is all your fault!" He snapped before the collapsed on top of
her.
Solo struggled under his heavy, limp form. Great! Just bloody brilliant,
she thought. She was beginning to feel a little light headed
herself.
And not entirely due to lack of oxygen either.
Solo moved to the side and Paul's body fell besides her. Solo gasped
for air, any air to fill her starved lungs. Twenty seconds to go…If she
could just hang on.
Her chest grew tight.
Ten seconds.
Spots danced in front of her eyes.
Five seconds.
Her body started to tingle, she couldn't feel her legs.
Three seconds.
Her eyes closed, two seconds, she forced them open, one second, she
pushed the power button in and slipped into unconsciousness.
Her last vision was of a message box appearing on the screen before
her eyes, warning that some files may be lost in the transfer and reloading
of the system. Solo's last thought was that, those files had better
not include life support!
Great, Just great…
Solo is asleep – again.
But this time so is Richard, Tim and Paul
Even Flacco is unconscious!
Will the system start up again?
Have any important files been lost in the process?
Will the time machine work now??
STAY TUNED…
