Barenaked Ladies To Appear On Two Guys, A Girl, And A Pizza Place GonsterMacher To Remix Next Single

by Carrie Borzillo

Canada's shining exports Barenaked Ladies might be taking the Jonathan Richman road -- ala There's Something About Mary -- for an upcoming episode of ABC's Two Guys, a Girl, and a Pizza Place.

If there's anyone who hasn't seen the Ben Stiller/Cameron Diaz comedy yet, Richman was the singer/guitarist who performed quirky little songs in between scenes of the movie. While it's not 100% confirmed that the Ladies will go this route for their appearance on Two Guys, a source says that it's one of the ideas being heavily considered. They're working on the script as we type.

The band will tape their appearance on Feb. 23, the night before the Grammy awards, where they are nominated for "One Week" in the Best Pop Performance by a Group with Vocal category. The band is also slated to perform on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno on Feb. 26.

Meanwhile, the Ladies are apparently hoping to dirty up their squeaky- clean musical image with te next single from their last album, Stunt, by bringing in GonsterMacher.

Gonster Who? It's the production team of Matt Dike (Beastie Boys, Tone Loc, Brand New Heavies) and Peter Reardon (Coolio, Geto Boys, Less Than Jake), who together created remixes for Josh Wink and Insane Clown Posse. The duo, who are currently at work on their debut album for Waxploitation, will provide additional production and do a modern rock radio remix for the Ladies' "Alcohol."
