If no one has taken the two rooms on the 3rd floor - Michael and I will readily stake our claim!! Let me invite you all in and show you around!!!
When you walk into the room, the first thing you hear is the soft grinding noise of the paddle fan on the ceiling. The air glides through the room and gives it a warm but cooling breeze. The pale blue walls quickly transport you to the Caribbean. It looks like a beautiful tropical sky.
We knocked down a wall to make our two rooms into one. The front part of the room has been converted into a sitting room. The loveseat is overstuffed and extremely inviting. There is a corner for Michael's cello, and another corner for our wine cabinet. Michael and I mark every occasion with a new bottle of wine, We then buy another bottle and keep it on hand for days when we want to feel especially close and remember the time we drank the first bottle. Fortunately we were able to transport some of our furniture from our winter home on Montserrat before the volcano erupted and ruined the rest of our home and its belongings.
The back part of the room is our haven! Our bed is antique rice bed (we needed something tall to keep the dog off the bed!) overloaded with pillows. Some say it's small (we opted for the double bed size), but I say -- the smaller the bed -- the more the need to snuggle!! The rest of the bedroom furniture corresponds with the bed, the cherry highboy and the dresser fit right in. The closet off to the left is huge with enough space for all of Michael's black ensembles and all of my designer originals.
The bathroom is large enough for us both and is the most relaxing part of the room. The step down Jacuzzi tub is big enough for two and the smell from the candles can sometimes be overpowering. But I insisted on the candles, they are so romantic!
To the right, French doors lead to a small balcony. Michael and I enjoy our morning coffee here every day. The wicker is so durable for outside and the cushions on the chairs are surprisingly comfortable. The sound of the waves crashing against the shore is almost like a drug. It is what keeps Michael and I sane. Whenever we come back home, here is where we retreat to first. It reminds us of our island escape that we lost and lets us dream about our adventure to replace it. (Guess you guys didn't know that the building sat on the coast -- sorry -- guess you all don't have the ocean view rooms then, huh?)
I know you all must think that the cost of the remodeling was excessive on a Level 5 ops pay, but I was so lucky to have Operations' blessing. He was so happy to see Michael finally get over Nikita, he told me whatever I wanted, as long as I kept Michael happy, content and focused. What a price I must pay for my happiness!!!
Hope you all come around, Michael and I would love to have you visit again, but please make sure you knock before entering. You never know what you might be walking in on!!
