The Collision of Two Worlds

Capeside: The Hellmouth
Chapter#1 - The Collision of Two Worlds

"He is dead, right?" Xander asked raising his eyebrows as he carefully helped the very weak Slayer
walk, "I did hear something crack."

"That would be his neck," Buffy said with a smile, despite how weak she felt with a 107-degree
fever, "And I think neck breakage classifies him as dead."

Suddenly, a bright light flashed behind them, and was echoed by the howling of a cold wind, causing
them to turn around. Buffy and Xander's eyes widened as they saw light radiating out of Death's
body, and their heads turned to look at each other. Then, simultaneously, they said, "Run!"

But it was too late; their bodies were immersed into the light and the light that radiated from the body
continued to expand until it had swallowed the entire town of Sunnydale. The light wrapped and
twisted until there was no Sunnydale to speak of. The Hellmouth reacted to this explosion, but it
could not save itself without saving the town with it, and finally, it found a perfect home. Remote and
quiet, just as Sunnydale had been, but just as they were about to transfer worlds, something went
decidedly wrong. The effects of dimensional travel caused a collision of two worlds, resulting in the
survival and even switched role-play for some, if not all, of the towns' residents, creating what we
know as, Capeside: The Hellmouth.

Buffy and Xander's bodies were crumpled beside a pier of a creek of some sort. Buffy's eyes
opened reluctantly and she stood up quickly; recalling what had occurred minutes, really hours, ago.
She was dazed and confused, but her fever was gone, as she touched her forehead and muttered,
"Where am I?" She turned to see Xander beside her, his face was scratched, but other than that, he
seemed all right, and began to stir. Groggily, he sat up, and saw Buffy sitting confused beside him
and with a pained voice, he asked, "What's going on? What happened? Where are we, Buffy?" "I - I
only wish I knew," said Buffy, turning to look at him, but she saw him topple, again, and she heard a
weak groan. "Xander, are you alright?"

"Yeah, j-just a little sore," said Xander touching his right cheek and winced at the pain it caused,
"But I can walk."

"Come on, I think I see someone lying over there," She said as she squinted trying to make out the
slumped figure of a man in the pale moonlight.

"Yeah, sure," said Xander standing up and paused for a moment, trying to regain his lost balance and
with the help of Buffy was able to begin to walk.

"Buffy, that looks a lot like Giles," said Xander, who reluctantly took his arm off of Buffy's shoulder,
finding that he could walk better now.

"It is Giles," said Buffy in a concerned voice as they walked towards the man who had propped
himself against a tree. "Giles! Giles!"

He looked up, was glad to see a familiar face, and said softly, "Buffy, Xander. Oh, thank God,
you're both alright."

"Giles, what happened here or better yet, what happened to you?" asked Xander, whose face
winced when he saw the state of Giles' face and the tattered suit he wore.

"I-I'm not too sure, I found myself waking up and my face was at the present state you see now,"
said Giles, his British accent and his words seemingly had no damage from his accident.

"In other words, you woke up like that," said Buffy, who had mastered simple Giles language, but
had yet to have the ability to translate major Giles.

"But do you know what happen?" "From the knowledge I have at the moment, the killing of the
creature you refer to as Death, caused a strange reaction in the Hellmouth. Resulting in the
catastrophic cosmic collision of extremely unknown consequences, and the apparent disappearance
of what we know as Sunnydale," said Giles, who winced as a cool wind stung the wounds on his
face. "Sunnydale is gone?" asked Buffy, who couldn't believe that was possible. "But what about
everyone and my mom and Willow and even, Cordelia, where are they?"
"Sunnydale is not essentially gone, it still exists to some extent, but it has been integrated into this
place we are in now. The people of Sunnydale are still here, but they are not the same people you
knew before. Their lives have been integrated into the lives of those that already live here, therefore,
we are complete strangers to them," said Giles, wishing that he didn't have to be the one to tell them
that they had just lost the last 17 years they had known as their life.

"No! No! I will not accept that, it can't be true! It just can't be, Giles," insisted Buffy, but when she
saw the sympathetic and sad expression on his face, she knew it couldn't be anything, but true.

"I-I don't get this, Giles! How is it that you, me, and Buffy are the only three that know about this
whole ordeal?" asked Xander, who was just as frustrated as Buffy.

"I was coming to you when the explosion happened and Xander, you and Buffy, were practically
next to that Death creature when the light radiated from him. It seems that the closer you are to the

creature, the more of yourself you remember, but those that are farther away from the initial impact,
had more of their lives washed away. Those lives were further twisted with the lives of those who
live here," Giles tried to explain, although his knowledge of what had actually happened was very
limited. "At least, that's what I think, but it just might be that we were close enough to Buffy to regain
our memories of our past lives. To tell you the truth, I am not really sure, but those are my initial
beliefs as to what occurred."

In the distance, they heard a familiar voice, "Pacey, look, there are some really injured people over
there." "Cordy," said Xander in a soft voice, and he turned to Giles and Buffy with sad eyes. "She
doesn't remember us, does she?"

"I'm sorry, Xander, no," said Giles, who didn't really like her presence at times, knew that he'd miss
her, but perhaps not as much as Xander might, but all the same, he would.

"It probably wouldn't have lasted long, anyway," Xander muttered, kicking a rock as Cordelia and
the boy that stood beside her, who she had called Pacey, walked towards them. "Hey, are you guys,
alright?" asked Cordelia, her act and her ways were just the same, her voice showing some concern,
but her air showed her insincerity.

"Yeah...well, sort of. My name's Buffy, and that's Xander and he's, um, he's G-Giles. W-we got into
an accident, a car accident, actually," Buffy began to lie, which was an art she had mastered over the
years. "It was a couple of miles from here, and, uh, we couldn't find the hospital, so, um, we just sat
here hoping someone would come."

"Then, we better help them out, Cordy," said Pacey, who was tall and, Buffy quickly summed, an
extreme hottie.

"Yes, I guess, so," said Cordelia, who was strictly annoyed when she saw her boyfriend give Buffy a
flirtatious smile. "Why don't you go and call the hospital and I'll just stay here and keep them
company."

"Alright," said Pacey, and he gave Cordelia a quick kiss, before he treaded up the walk and his
figure disappeared on the road ahead.

"So, what brings you to Capeside, besides the accident, that is. I'm guessing that you were on your
way here," said Cordelia looking at Buffy with annoyed look still.

"Yes, we were coming here to, uh...well, Xander and I are part of a national exchange student
program," Buffy said quickly, and Xander gave her a look of surprise as well as Giles. "And, um,
Giles here is part of that program too, but he's, uh, part of the world exchange teachers program.
He's from England and is going to teach here for awhile."

"Oh, that's nice," said Cordelia, who looked as if she couldn't care less about anything at all, "Hmm,
I think I see Pacey and it looks like he has our friends with him." "F-friends? I thought he was going
to call for help," said Xander, suspiciously, feeling that old Sunnydale sixth sense coming to him.
"Well, I guess he met up with our friends first," said Cordelia with a smirk as she gave her boyfriend
a kiss when he stood beside her. "Buffy, Xander, Giles, I'd like for you to meet my friends, and my
dear friends, please meet...dinner." Cordelia turned around to face them, she no longer had that face
she had prized not so long ago, she now had the deep grooves and the pale skin and the evil,
sharp-toothed grin, of the creatures she used to abhor.

"What do you expect with Capeside, "The New Hellmouth"?" muttered Xander aloud and he looked
a Buffy.

"Xander, get Giles out of here," said Buffy in her commanding voice, like she often did when it
involved vampires.

"Buffy, there are too many of them," insisted Xander, seeing about ten vampires surrounding them
and more approaching.

"There they are!" a voice shouted in the distance causing Xander, Buffy, and Giles to turn and see
three people running towards them, and Xander heard Buffy gasped.

Xander squinted and made out the group, two girls, one short, one tall, and the very familiar form of
Angel. They all had stakes in hands, an individual cross on a chain hung on each of their necks, and
looked fully prepared for a fight. Apparently, they were Capeside's closest answer to a slayer, and
even more apparently, Angel was no longer a vampire.

"Angel," said Buffy softly and Xander turned to see her surprised expression.

"Buffy, you've got to remember, even though it's hard to believe, that he doesn't know who you are,"
said Xander with a sigh as he saw the three forms running towards them.

"But he's not evil, anymore, Xander," said Buffy, as if the knowledge of that changed everything,
although she knew in her heart it didn't.

"I know he's not, Buffy, but he's still not the same Angel he was before," said Xander and he looked
at Cordelia, who had stopped the "dinner" so that they could fight the wannabe Slayer Squad. "If
you don't believe me, look at Cordy."

"I understand, but it's not that, Xander. It's just that I accepted Angel as a vampire, and seeing that
he's not, really gives me the wiggins," said Buffy, who couldn't really say to Xander, what it was she
feeling right now, but Xander didn't need an explanation, he understood.

"You guys, better get out of here," a girl with brown hair called to them, "It's dangerous." "I think we
can handle it," said Xander, taking a two stakes from the strange, but pretty girl's hand.

"We?" asked Buffy, raising her eyebrows at Xander. "Don't you mean, that I can handle it?"

"I'll have you know, that I've fought plenty of vampire's in my time," said Xander, who was about to
argue with Buffy, but Giles cut into their conversation.

"Uh, pardon me, for interrupting, but I think that they can probably use some help," said Giles
motioning over to a blonde and Angel who were fighting off the vampires, although, not too well.

"Right," said Buffy, grabbing a stake from Xander's hand and patting the cross she always wore
around her neck.

"You do have the acquired capabilities in the usage of stakes, don't you?" asked the brunette that
Xander had taken them from. "What? Oh, do we know how to use stakes? I think we can handle it,"
said Xander as he followed Buffy into the fight.

"Who are you, guys?" Angel said with heavy breathing as he punched a vampire in the face.

Buffy gave a hard right sidekick into the stomach of a vampire, staked his heart with accuracy and
power, and looked up at Angel and said, "We're their worst enemy." She saw Xander topple in the
distance, although he had staked a vampire, and smiled before she continued with, "At least, I am."

As more and more vampires got killed, Cordelia got frustrated, as did Pacey, who thought it was
going to be an easy kill...of humans, not vampires. Pacey yelled to them, "Come on, we better get
out here, it seems that Calvary has arrived."

"What are you? Some super vampire fighter?" asked Angel after Buffy had killed most of them with
out even a scratch on her.

"Um, something like that, yeah. My name's Buffy, and you guys are...?" said Buffy, and then she
looked at Angel and the girls beside him.

"I'm Angel," said Angel, although unbeknownst to himself, he didn't need an introduction.

"And I'm Joey," said the tall, brunette that had told them to run. "I guess, my initial reaction of making
you go away was entirely wrong."

"I'm Jen," said a short, blonde that stood comfortably beside Angel, who had his arm around her
shoulder.

"Are you two...?" Buffy suggested it, although she knew all too well that Jen and Angel had a
relationship.

"Uh, yeah," said Jen, blushing slightly, and then she saw Xander standing beside Buffy, and
suggested, "What about you and him...?"

Buffy and Xander glanced at each other and chuckled nervously as they looked away, shaking their
heads and Jen looked apologetic. Xander explained, "No, Buffy and I, we're just really good friends.
Anyway, I'm Xander, and the rumpled sack of potatoes in tweed is Giles."

Giles gave Xander a murderous looked and said, "Nice to meet you."

"Oh, you're torn up pretty bad," said Joey, her voice with definite concern. "The hospital is too far
away from here, but we know the best next thing to a hospital."

"What's that?" asked Xander, as he and Angel helped Giles up.

"Willow's house, of course," said Jen with a smile, as if that was the most logical answer in the world.

"Willow?" asked Buffy, Xander, and Giles at the same time.

"Willow is a witch, but a good one, and she has all these potions and powders for medicine,"
explained Joey as they walked over a bridge and entered the neighborhoods of Capeside, and when
the reached a normal, suburban house she continued, "That's her house, over there."

"Willow! Willow!" Jen said, rapping on the front glass window, and a shadowy figure could be seen
in the curtain-covered window, walking to open the door.

"Jen, Joey, Angel," said Willow with a surprised expression, and then she saw the rumpled figure of
Giles and a concerned look flashed on her face. "Come in, come in, hurry. Lay him on the table."

Xander and Angel placed Giles on the kitchen table and walked away as Willow came towards him.
Xander walked over to where Buffy was standing and whispered to her, "Definitely not the Willow
we knew."

"Definitely not," said Buffy, thinking that she never would have thought Willow as a witch, not even a
good one, let alone a bad one.

"Um, Willow, do you think he'll be alright?"

"He's fine, I just need to put some herbs on his skin to stop any infection from happening," said
Willow looking at her and then she frowned and continued, "Who are you? And who is he?"

"I'm Buffy," said Buffy, feeling as if she must have said that same phrase for a million times that day.

"And I'm Xander," said Xander feeling very strange that he was introducing himself to his lifelong, or
as it was, ex-lifelong best friend. "Buffy," said Willow to herself, thinking the name was very familiar
and then she remembered and pulled a book out of her huge bookcase. "You're the vampire slayer."

"Vampire Slayer?" asked Angel, Joey, and Jen in unison as they looked at Buffy.

"I...uh..." Buffy said with a meek smile as she looked at Giles and Xander for help, but they looked
just as helpless as she was.

"That's right," said Willow opening the book she held in her hand and turning to a page and read
aloud, "It is prophesized that a girl shall come, a Vampire Slayer, of unknown origin calling herself
Buffy. She will come, come and save our world from the demons of this earth." "Are you the,BR> Vampire Slayer?" asked Joey brushing a wisp of brown hair from her face.

"Uh, Giles?" asked Buffy looking at him carefully, and she saw him nod, "Okay, so I'm the Vampire
Slayer."

"Why didn't you come here sooner?" demanded Joey, angrily, glaring at Buffy before she shoved by
her to sit on the couch beside Willow. "I-I don't understand. Why are you so angry at me?" asked
Buffy looking at Joey, but when she didn't reply, she turned to Angel and Jen.

"Last night, an unexpected incident occurred," Jen began to explain with a sigh as she gave a
sympathetic glance at her friend. "Our friend was taken from us and turned into a vampire. He was
Joey's best friend, and she's known him all her life."

"Oh," said Buffy, and she looked at Giles and Xander, feeling that this was all too familiar, "What
was his name?"

"Dawson," said Joey, looking up suddenly, "Dawson Leery."
