UPDATE: Jason kindly reminded me that Gillian Anderson (only doing voiceovers but not seen, probably the voice of a computer like her computer voiceovers in the Microsoft game Hellbender) and Lance Henriksen will be in the pilot of Harsh Realm! Sounds better and better! Also the co-creator of the comic book, James Hudnall, loved it. Also here's what's coming in official magazine issue #11 (the picture is the front page of the version found in newsstands; the fan club version is always different):

Sorry for the lack of updates, I was away and I'm also very busy. I leave July 1 (Thursday night) and will start updating again around August 14. Plus the new homepage is up! See what you think. Anyway I discovered a lot of merchandise since last update, so without any further ado....

Thanks a ton to Jason for sending me these scans of the Oldsmobile Intrigue brochure!! It was sent to people on a mailing list and offered 6, not just 2, free tickets if you test-drive the car. Here are the pages: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9. Anyway, the hat from the Netherlands that I mentioned yesterday isn't different or new, but it comes with some season 4 box sets, which I think I said a long time ago.

Before I go on, there have been some rumors going around about the premiere which I'm not sure are true. TomBli wrote on Cinescape Online that the cosmic galactic radiation transferred from the artifact to the paper, which then affected Mulder, but no one else because he is special. Which I don't think makes sense because Scully was infected with the same virus Mulder was. The cut scene in which Fowley electrocutes him with a stun gun (because Mulder reads her mind and finds out she's not loyal) causes his "insanity." I'll keep what's on the Mythology section until I see the premiere for myself. Speaking of "Biogenesis," check out this link for a very interesting read on the cut scenes from that episode.

Back to the merchandise. I found some pictures of movie crew apparel: The short-sleeve henley (and the back), already listed, another t-shirt--for the visual effects crew (and the back), and another nifty jacket. Remember the enhanced CD? Here is a much better picture of it. Now check this out: Jessica Woodward, winner of the Oldsmobile Intrigue used in the filming of the X-Files movie from the Fox Home contest on the official X-Files movie video Web site, is auctioning it off on eBay, starting at $50,000. Click here for the page. This is the actual car, and this is the letter that came with it. WOW! I also have two pictures that are better than the ones that I currently have for those items: the theater promo guide (which, as you can see, has a letter from Chris Carter saying how the film should be shown, and more) and the theater promo mini poster.

Now I have some release dates. On June 17 (sorry, already past) the German version of the "One Son" video came out. It comes with a making-of video for the episodes, which sounds cool! I assume that all the international versions of the video also include it. On July 5 the "One Son" video comes out in the U.K., and so will the season 5 limited-edition box set. Get this: Frank Spotnitz cowrote the script (with Steven Katz) for an upcoming movie called The Just, to be released by Universal and Brillstein-Grey Entertainment. It's a suspense thriller. Another interesting news item is that the X-Files movie was sent to kids and other refugees at a camp in Neprosteno, Macedonia, as a part of a program (FilmAid) to get their minds off of what is happening there, along with 49 other films. And in schedule news, "Dreamland" and "Dreamland II" will air--AGAIN--in the weeks after "Triangle."

We have two more magnets, of course with no pictures:

I received some information from Dennis X (he also provided the dates above) about the making-of special Video CD that I have listed. It is a promo-only item and is in English with Chinese subtitles.

And that's about it! I doubt I will get another update in, so have a good summer, and I'll be back in August!

P.S.: The season 6 bloopers are currently online at alt.binaries.x-files! I'm downloading them as I type this, I've been having some trouble. Make sure to get WinRAR and a good news robot. Expect to spend 8+ hours, I did it while I was asleep.

P.P.S.: I saw the musical Chicago on Broadway (great!), and the conductor's name is Rob Bowman! Different guy though. There's also a stuntman with the same name.

It's official--3 DVDs will be released on October 26 with 2 episodes on each. No word on the episodes or features yet, but I'll assume that the rumored Wave 8 episodes will be the ones on the DVD set. I also assume that the discs will be sold together and separately. In other news, Hungary's courts ruled that The X-Files can't be shown on TV before 11 p.m. because of its violent subject matter. Can you believe that crap? X-Files (or any show) is not the cause of all the world's problems--or even some of them. Looking for a cause to our problems is just trying to put the blame elsewhere, and the ruling is a step in the wrong direction. I wonder if any of the judges have even seen 1 episode. On another note, the 1-year anniversary for this site is the 26th!

I have a bunch of merchandise info. There is a movie cap only available in the Netherlands, but I have no picture. :-( 2 other items which have no picture: a Nokia promo cap (companion to the promo shirt already in the Merchandise section) and a sticker of poster C. The cap has the "X" on the front and "Nokia" on the back. Incidentally, the shirt came in a plastic tube holder. Both the shirt and cap were given to Nokia dealers who could answer questions of a mystery shopper (?). Speaking of Nokia, here is the official press release of Nokia's X-Files deal. Anyway, these things have pictures. I found out about a cap made for the visual FX crew. (It says "Visual Effects Crew, BLACKWOOD" on the back.) And remember the promo Japanese metro pass? The campaign continued with these transit schedules. Neat! They fold into the size of a credit card. And if you remember the preview press kit which included 4 other Fox movies, here is another picture of that. And if you remember the movie crew shirt with the corn crops and alien on it (that's the back), here is the front. And another shirt! This is another movie crew t-shirt (front), and here's the back. That's a really cool one. Also, I have pictures of more pages of the Japanese movie program (the smaller one): here and here. While I'm on the Japanese stuff, this is a REALLY nice button from there, resembling one of the keychains. Thanks a lot to Diana for that one!!

Anyway, the rerun schedule is now completely different than the projected ones including 6X11, 6X12, etc. Right now we have "Agua Mala" next week, then "Triangle" will be rerun again. No idea after that.

It seems that there is now an official X-Files movie soundtrack mailing list which you can sign up for by simply going to the official album site (www.x-filesthealbum.com is the same thing). They haven't sent out any mailings yet. Now I don't think I mentioned that I got my autographed picture of Dean Haglund in the mail a while earlier. He is offering them through his Web site. It's really cool, because he remembers me from the EXPO when I got his autograph (on my poster C) there. Speaking of Web sites, the alt.binaries.x-files archive looks like it's officially down for good.

In the rumor department, I've heard that Covarrubias is an alien, and that there will be a "Tooms" redux next season. Look, I'm just trying to get some news here!! But anyway, Fox is starting a movie series called "Kiss, Kiss, Bang, Bang," whose first TV movie will be called Kiss Tomorrow Goodbye and will star Nick Lea. It will be a Nineties Noir film inspired by the B movies of the 1940s and '50s. Look for it sometime next season! Also speaking of series, Steven Williams will be in the series Linc's on Showtime with Pam Grier. You can see him in an ad for it on TV (it imitates the Gap commercials). And speaking of ads! James Pickens, Jr. can be seen on an ad for Nortel Networks. Dean Haglund and Brian Thompson are in a Bud commercial. And we all know David Duchovny's Sprint ad voiceovers (2 so far out of 4). And I remember seeing Mitch Pileggi on a Sprint (or AT&T?) ad a few years ago. Boy was that funny! Anyway. "Agua Mala" is replacing "The Beginning" in the rerun schedule, as far as I know. And filming for season 7 may begin in August (as seen in a recent article) instead of the rumored July 19 date. Now, Millennium will be airing on weekdays and Sundays in its new home at FX. And just to let you all know, the movie aired on TV in Canada on June 11 (TMN4, TMN1, and TMN3). It airs again on June 20 (TMN3 and TMN1). It will premiere on HBO Plus (HBOE2) in the U.S. on June 17 then will be shown again on June 22.

Now I have pictures of those U.K. items I featured a few days ago. Here they are: the Mulder and Scully Special Edition video promo posters, a movie leaflet, the front and inside of a movie theater leaflet, a 13x8" video promo counter display, the video sales standee, a promo poster for the U.K. Special Edition, the 3 5x4" postcards that come with the "Patient X" video along with the poster promoting it, and the front and inside of the Maglite leaflet that comes with the Special Edition video. You can see what they look like from those pictures. They are really neat! Also, the video First Editions were apparently sold only at WHSmiths, numbered out of 1000 made. Thanks so much to QuinTess01 for all this! And I also have a picture of a promo item given out to Fox employees, a paper cube (top and side). I got a picture of trailer C, scope version. And finally, here is an interesting item, it is a Japanese metro ticket with the X-Files logo (some type of promotion).

Today is a HUGE merchandise update, consisting of postcards and CDs, mostly foreign. I don't think I mentioned here that I updated the Mythology section last weekend to include "Biogenesis." If you don't get what the hell is going on, read it again--I added a subsection right before the last one explaining it all. They are theories of course, but I'm 90% sure they are correct. See what you think. Before I start on the postcard stuff, I have a few other things. The X-Files won a Saturn Award for Best Series on Network TV. Also, starting July 19, FX will be airing episodes of Millennium. And our wishes will finally come true (sort of)--a DVD 3-pack of X-Files episodes will be out in October! Also I confirmed that Mark Snow wrote the awesome music for trailer A of the movie. Finally, I'm adding the X-Files 1998 EXPO fan club kit to the Merchandise section because if you joined the fan club at the EXPO you got a free U.S. 1-sided version of poster C.

Now then.... I will start out with this set of 5.5x4" postcards from Classico San Francisco (which I previously referred to as ClassiCo). It is 6 postcards that come in a white envelope with "The X-Files" written on the outside of it. Notice that the two rightmost postcards on the top row are new to us. Also from Classico SF are these postcards of WMM, Skinner, and the Lone Gunmen. Also a promo postcard was made to promote them. In the Classico catalog, here's the page with the X-Files postcards (notice that it isn't complete), and here is the bottom of that page. Now here is a Spanish poster D postcard. Remember the French postal service postcards? This is a picture of the pre-stamped back. A set of Dutch poster postcards: A, B, C, and D. This is another French (not from the post office) postcard, of poster D. And another one with a new image, here. That image is from the U.K. press kit. Those last two are made by Cinescope. I already have the Australian postcards listed, so this is the back of them. I've had these listed for a long time, but here are the pictures of the Asian postcard versions of posters A, B, and C. Speaking of which, all the Asian postcards come in separate plastic sleeves. This includes the movie series and the poster series (3 of which are above). I'm done with postcards, so on to CDs! The X-Files: First Files CD single is available in other countries in different variations. In Japan it is called The X-Files Theme and has a different track listing: Oldfield's "Tubular X," the Dust Brothers remix, a remix by Satoshi Tomiie, the R.H. Factor Pop remix, and a song called "The Source of Secrets" by Mike Oldfield. In Germany (where First Files was released) a 2nd CD came out called The X-Files Theme Remixes with a cardboard sleeve and these tracks: 2 remixes by Cosmic Collector, one by Mechanical Man, and the Dust Brothers one. The first Cosmic Collector remix is also on a 1-track French version of this CD, which is only a promo and is actually on a gold CD-R. As you can see, there is no cover art. Finally, a U.S. promo single with the R.H. Factor remix was made. Well, there we go!

The Brazilian Mulder poster I have in the Merchandise section also has a companion Scully poster, I think. I now know for a fact that in addition to the U.K. video promo poster, in Britain there are 2 other video posters, one with Scully and one with Mulder (but they look different than the Brazilian poster). Pictures coming soon, I promise. Here are some other random tidbits on U.K. merchandise:

  • The movie (red box) comes with a leaflet advertising the "One Son" video as well as a leaflet about the Movie Torches.
  • The Movie Torches are three Maglite flashlights, black with the movie logo in white: The Solitaire (3" in height), the Mini Maglite (5.75" in height), and the 2 "D" Cell Maglite (9.75" in height). They will be canceled at the end of this month.
  • There is a cardboard counter stand for the movie, 13x8". It is the same as the U.K. video cover.
  • File 12: The End includes 45 minutes of interviews and behind-the-scenes info from the movie. A sticker on the front advertises it.
  • There is a U.K. video standee.
  • The "Patient X" video includes 3 postcards of posters A-C. Pictures of these are also on the standee advertising the episode on tape.

It describes the movie, as seen in a preview screening in the middle of the 5th season. Read carefully...there were more cut scenes than we thought!

"Ingenious script in every way except one: There is a scene where Mulder and Scully appear to get intimate. But later, the two remember it differently. Scully thinks it was just a dream while Mulder believes it is a memory flashback that has been 'implanted' into them for malicious purposes (spoiler withheld)."

Huh! Cool. Speaking of really late movie news, I just found out that www.black-wood.com links to the official movie site! Now, news from Korea. Those two video posters from there I posted a while ago...well it seems that one is a magazine cover, not a poster. I'll move it to the Movie Pictures page with the magazine covers. Also, the word-for-word translation of the title is X-File: The War with the Future. Thanks to Sang for that help! Two more things. First, Millennium fans don't give up hope yet! There may be a 4th season, but with only 6 episodes, to air at the end of this year. Finally, the latest rerun schedule, starting next week, is 6X13, 6X06, 6X01, 6X11, 6X12, then 6X10.

There are actually less than 60 finale scripts available; the fan club mistakenly said that there were less than 25. Now it says less than 75, but 60 is the latest figure. The Mark Snow chat on Wednesday was very interesting...he answered 2 of my questions!! Unfortunately he didn't get my question asking whether he wrote the music for the 1st movie trailer (or the music in the 2nd and 3rd trailers that comes before the Romeo & Juliet part). Oh well...my guess is that either he or John Beal wrote it. Here are some highlights that could count as news. He's such a cool guy!!

And, Gillian Anderson was nominated for a Viewers for Quality Television 15th Annual Quality Award. Finally I have two really cool items. First this is a licensing info sheet from 20th Century Fox describing the movie and the marketing/licensing strategies, including phone numbers! I will try very hard to get this so I can get as much merchandise and promotional information as possible. And, there is now a window sticker for the X-Files movie!

Another June begins.... Let's start out with the ad for the Dark Horse movie alien statue, scanned by Dennis X. Now, the movie has won some more awards. In the 1999 Sci-Fi Universe Awards, it got Best Sci-Fi or Fantasy Motion Picture, Best Actress, Best Director, and Best Screenplay. The show got Best Actress and Actor and Best Guest Star, Actress (Lily Tomlin). Anyway, I think I forgot to say what the special item is that went on sale at the fan club's Vault the midnight after the season finale! It is the script of the episode signed by Rob Bowman, and less than 25 are now left! And, Millennium has been officially canceled, if I haven't been sure in earlier updates. Now about the rerun schedule.... I have seen many variations. First I changed "The Beginning" to "Tithonus" because I found out that the former wasn't going to be aired after all. Then, after reporting that 2 days ago, I saw that the former may be aired after the latter, moving everything back a week. Then I read on SpoilerVille that "Arcadia" would be aired after "Tithonus" instead. Then another source showed that "The Beginning" would then air after "Arcadia," moving everything back another week. So, I will stick with the last version until I hear otherwise.

In other news, The X-Files came in as the #13 most-watched show this season. Not bad at all! Wondering what Michael Watkins will be doing this summer? Well I wasn't either, but he will be directing Deadlocked for the TNT network. This information was from ALFORNOS on the newsgroup. He also posted an interview with Mitch Pileggi saying that work will begin on the second movie the summer after the last season. Now there are a number of assumptions that I've had to make based on this: First, he means filming. Second, season 7 is the last, ending in 2000. Third, he means the summer after the last season, as in a year after. Fourth, filming would start summer 2001, placing the film's opening in summer 2002, just like other rumors have said. The final piece of news I got from this source is that Carter's new series may be titled Chris Carter's Harsh Realm in Canada. Anyway, go to www.foxhome.com now to start the X-Hunt and find the seven clues to download 4 X-Files collector's card art theme packs! I did! In other Web site news, the binaries newsgroup archive is now being updated again. I also confirmed that there will be 22 episodes with 6-7 mythology next season in a Frank Spotnitz interview.

Continuing today's merchandise/media update, I have a bunch of new pictures. This is an employee promotional badge for salesmen to promote the movie (not the soundtrack; we already know about that promo badge). I also found a closeup of the shirt with "The X-Files" in big text on the back. This is the U.K. version of poster D (surprised I didn't have it earlier). Contained in this picture is another movie postcard. I think it's also in the ClassiCo series. And here is yet another (next to the collector's card with the same design). Notice that those two designs are also the ones found on the special 2 lobby card set which I showed earlier (they are bigger). Contained in this picture are 2 parking passes: one for the movie premiere, and another for the party afterward. Wow! Finally, this and this are Korean posters (more of 'em) of the video release. At least I think they are. I will find out if they are newspaper ads or something else from my top-secret hidden Korean source later.

First of all this site has been nominated for the 1999 X-Files Web Awards in the News category. Go here and click on "X News" under News to vote for this page!! Also click here to vote for this site (The X-Files Underground, which I will soon change the name to in the home page) as a Top 100 X-Files Site at FreeVote.com. And Centropolis has given this site the highest rating among X-Files sites, Out of this Universe, at this page. This site was given 5 Saturns and is #4 out of all the sites.

Gillian Anderson won a Blockbuster Award for Favorite Actress--Science Fiction. Also "Tithonus" is airing June 6 instead of "The Beginning." Speaking of which, 7X03 is rumored to be another Chris Carter-written and directed episode. It would air on 11/21! (Thanks Dennis X!) Anyway, I think there is another U.K. X-Files movie lobby card. It is a promo for The Avengers on the back. Hopefully a picture coming soon. And this is a close-up of the promo version of the soundtrack. Finally, this is the ad for "Musings of a Cigarette-Smoking Man" and this is the ad for "The Red and the Black," both different than the ones on the official site. Thanks again to Dennis X. Sorry for not updating as frequently. I'm busy, plus there isn't that much news right now anyway. I'll start off with awards. The March issue of Mode magazine gave Gillian Anderson the award for Best Unsmudged Makeup During A Major, World-Threatening Event. Cool.... And Darin Morgan was nominated by the Horror Writers Association for the 1999 Bram Stoker Award in the Best Screenplay category for his Millennium episode "Somehow, Satan Got Behind Me." Speaking of MM, it was canceled unfortunately, like we all expected. Harsh Realm will take its place in the schedule next season. Also next season the Sunday schedule will start at 7:30 (EST/PST) with King of the Hill, followed by The Simpsons then Futurama and our favorite show. Ratings should be much better next year. Speaking of which, Fox may pick up Strange World next season! In other news, the DVD is #3 behind You've Got Mail and A Bug's Life on the VideoScan chart as of May 9. I will continue this update later today.

REST OF UPDATE: OK I'm back. Now summer schedule information on FX.... May 24-28 8-9 p.m. FX will be doing The X-Files Declassified, with the contest and 4 themed episodes each night. On May 31 FX ("FX's Summer") will start running 2 episodes each weeknight from 9-10 p.m. and at midnight. The first 135 episodes (including some from season 6) will be aired in order and uncut.

Well, the folks Down Under are getting another video release. On 10/13/99 the "Dreamland" 2-parter will be released in Australia as The X-Files Mini-Movie: Dreamland. Also Dennis X has given me more information. First of all the series finale will be a huge deal (big surprise) with a "stunning final countdown" as he put it, and it will be a bigger event than the final episode in Vancouver. He also confirms that next season will be most likely 22 episodes with 6-7 mythology eps. Also he made 3 pictures. First is the ad for "Biogenesis," then that ad plus the 2nd ad for the same episode, colored in, and finally the final scene from the finale, altered a bit. Now, this informant also says that there were release problems of The Snow Files, which was supposed to come out May 11. I haven't been able to check any music stores since then, so does anyone know anything about this? Apparently there were copyright problems.... Anyway, thanks Dennis! BTW I never mentioned this, but who else noticed the cavemen scene from FTF in the finale teaser?!

Two more cool items. First the University of Maryland has an actual course called Studies in Contemporary Philosophy: Abduction and The X-Files! Second, Gillian Anderson was at a Phantom Menace screening with the L.A. Dodgers and other Fox people before the film came out. Lucky her!!

Please, do yourself a favor and see Episode 1!!! It was so awesome!!!! Amazing! Well, see it! I'm done now! Anyway, I forgot to mention some things about the finale. First of all Chuck we've seen before. I remember him from "The Calusari" and wasn't sure if that was him in "Leonard Betts," and I later confirmed that it was. That was a nice surprise. Well, let's see. Frank Spotnitz and his wife Melissa Lefante are expecting a baby in June!! Lefante just resigned as vice president of Fox Media and Corporate Relations, where she did the publicity campaigns for syndicated shows including The X-Files. Hmm. Here is an interesting spoiler, if true, about "Exodus": "In the season opener, Scully will recover the puzzle pieces, if you will, from Krycek. Skinner will betray Krycek and help Scully dig up the spacecraft that she found. Inside she will find more pieces and the 'puzzle' will be complete. I'll try to get more info." Also Dennis X told me that season 7 will have 22 episodes and 6-7 mythology episodes, which would contradict the previous rumor. And, "The Rain King" will be rerun on May 30.

Anyway I have some cool pictures. First of all I described a promo soundtrack t-shirt a long long time ago. Finally I have a picture! TOMORROW IS THE DAY! You got your tix? I got mine! The first showing, I will be there. Star Wars Episode I--The Phantom Menace comes out tomorrow folks. Just finished watching all three movies (Episodes 4-6) today. Don't miss it. Check out the official site. Now there is more season 7 info in. First of all the rumored title for the premiere is "Exodus." Cool! The latest news is that every single episode will be either mythology (multi-part or standalone) or character-driven, like the "Christmas Carol" 2-parter. This could be very very good or bad. I like the sound of it though. MOTWs could be easily worked in. The above is probably why there were only 5 mythology episodes this season, unless you count "The Unnatural." Speaking of mythology, HOW COOL WAS "BIOGENESIS"????!! Oh man, I can't remember the last time I was so confused, amazed, and wowed by the plot of a mythology episode. The paranoia, MULDER'S HAIR, and introduction of new elements to the mythology are all back! Brings back memories of "Herrenvolk." I'd have to say that this is the best cliffhanger ever. Mulder in the asylum, Scully making a huge discovery, the probable death of Albert Hosteen, the distrust of Skinner, who the HELL those guys with CSM were.... But I'd like to talk about details for a moment. First of all, people have been saying that in the scene where Scully walks in the hall of the hospital to Hosteen's moving bed, it switched to video from film. I didn't notice this in 2 viewings for some reason, but it turns out that it looks like that because it was filmed at 72 fps so it could be in slow-mo with a Scully voiceover, but that was cut so they tried to make it look normal. Second, people have been saying that what was in the water was a spaceship. I disagree. It looks to me like some sort of landing area. Or a monument or communication from the aliens, perhaps with the entire human genome on it. And contrary to popular belief, the African peasants DID see it, we just didn't see it until the end. You can clearly see the scientist look up at something offscreen at the beginning. And Scully didn't see it until she got there because, well, it is UNDERWATER! Third, the single CSM scene made it look like he has a new Syndicate. They were talking about global annihilation. But it looked military to me. Are the aliens coming anyway? Fourth, do you think Diana did it? I guess it's left up to us to decide. I do. Why else would she take off her clothes walking toward Mulder? Fifth, a scene was cut from the episode in which Scully thinks Mulder's condition is due to the testing in Tunguska. Which would mean she will eventually go nuts too, because she was also infected then injected with the vaccine. Ditto with Covarrubias. Obviously they are all getting the "Gibson Syndrome." Will it last?

Autumn T. on AOL wrote differences between the script she read and the episode. In addition to the Tunguska scene and Scully's hospital voiceover, there were more cut voiceovers. Also, Fowley originally called Scully to the hospital not Skinner, and Scully didn't call them liars. Much better this way. Originally we weren't supposed to see Skinner meet Krycek. And Barnes was supposed to kill Sandoz and Hosteen both at Hosteen's house (not Krycek)--the hogan ritual was added. I think there were cut scenes with CSM on the phone with Fowley. A big scene was cut in which Mulder realizes Fowley's loyalties, she gets him with a stun gun (!), dopes him up, and puts him in a hospital in a coma, strapped up.

Anyway, back to the season 7 stuff. I mean movie stuff. We've heard this before, but new rumors are that it will become a movie franchise, with the stories being kind of like the novels (non-mytharc). In other news, Gillian Anderson will film an adaptation of The House of Mirth in Scotland this summer. And check out this lead: "A Canadian judge dismissed a claim on Monday that Defence Minister Art Eggleton, Citibank and several drug-store chains were part of a conspiracy to kill a complainant because he is a Martian." Wow. Talk about too much X-Files.

Errrrrrrrrrrr.... I can't wait until tonight, but then again, do I really want to look forward to 6 months of no new episodes? Ah, the classic end-of-season dilemma. First of all, I have some season 7 premiere info, kindly given to me by GF2020. It should air on November 7 (I know, I know...), and filming starts July 19. The title won't be "Biogenesis II," and Krycek and Skinner will most likely be in it, since they have major roles in tonight's episode. The premiere takes place directly after "Biogenesis" and will set up the rest of the season. Also GF2020 tells me that the "Always" and February 2-parter rumors are crap (although there will probably be a Feb. 2-parter, the plot rumors are mere speculation). Speaking of "Biogenesis," I talked to a very knowledgeable informant, TomBli, who gave me some interesting information on it. Answering my question asking if the Australia multi-part episode had been scrapped:

"No. What went down was this, they changed the location of the story from Australia to South Africa. See the connection in the original story was that Native Americans in the West (the HOPI Indians) have the boomerang. The ONLY OTHER people to develop the boomerang are the Australian aborigines.

"This has always been a puzzle to anthropologists because it shows an understanding of aerodynamics that is much in advance of these primitive people. Also, it seems like the understanding of it jumped from one side of the world to the next without passing to anyone else.

"In the proposed storyline an artifact linked to extraterrestrial beings is found in Australia. A matching piece in found in North America in the west. Mulder then thinks that this is proof that EBEs had some contact with humans in ancient times and altered their consciousness making us who we are today. It also was the explanation for 'psychic powers.'

"This was to be a four-part story. I followed up on this and wrote (at Cinescape Online) that the four-part story was going to be the last three episodes of this season and the fourth was to be the first episode of season seven. Later on, Entertainment Weekly talked with Chris Carter and he verified this.

"But sadly as the season moved on problems in terms of time and budget popped up. The four-parter was cut down to being two episodes THIS season and two more next, then finally just a SINGLE episode for this and next season each.

"So when it was all said and done various changes were made. The story remains the same but with Australia (and anything to do with boomerangs) removed and South Africa put in place of that. Instead of Scully talking with an Australian aborigine she now talks with a African fisherman.

"So the story hasn't really been scrapped but changed around a bit. This happens often. Spender for example was to be in more episodes than he was this season including "Dreamland II"! Fowley was to be in "Triangle" but was cut.

"All the same, this will be the same story as before for the most part. Mulder has his consciousness altered after coming into contact with the artifact and the idea that a 'cosmic consciousness' in human beings came to us from the EBEs is still the heart of the story."

Thanks again, ToM! Anyway, the Special Edition videos for the movie come out on August 11 in Australia, as seen in a promo in Wave 3, which just came out there. Now, I have the print ad for "The Unnatural". The official episode guide is currently only up to "Alpha." Also I have another industry ad for the movie, from Blue Sky/VIFX. Meanwhile, last weekend Nick Lea was at an air show near D.C. and skydived off a plane! That's our Ratboy!! And, Chris Carter has hinted that the movie sequel may be filmed in Vancouver (I should have mentioned this earlier). Finally I have a better description of the movie porcelain mug, which DOES exist: "Basically, it is a white mug, with a picture kind of like ironed on, of Mulder and Scully looking up (classic UFO viewing scene). It is the newest and only mug made from the movie, as far as I know. It has the X-Files FTF logo under the faces, and larger on the reverse side."

Now it seems that everything for the movie has been released...all the merchandise...everything. Unless that new lunchbox comes out. Anyway, I'm still getting info on old items though. For example, this is the front of a Japanese movie program which is different than the other one I have listed: It is 11x17" and is on card stock. Here and here are two pictures of inside pages. Notice the Japanese soundtrack ad in the former picture. Here is a very interesting piece of merchandise info: When Fox delivered the pan & scan videos to video stores, a very select few box covers were printed with a green and yellow bee in the middle of the logo. Cool! Maybe ones in stores have them too! I also have a picture of the X-Files game/movie package. Finally, this looks like a new FTF sticker but I'm not sure if it's the same as one of the others: "...The X-Files FTF sticker (4x5") features a collage of scenes from the movie cast over an eerie sky setting." I WISH I had pics of all of these.

I have some cool news here. But first, "Field Trip" was awesome! It was very original, although it was reminiscent of a ST:TNG episode in which Riker was going crazy, and all these weird things were happening but it turned out none of it was real. The last scene was priceless, and the Lone Gunmen were hilarious!! Langly's fake tuxedo shirt and Frohike's final gulp of wine were classic. I don't really think Mulder and Scully communicated with each other, I think it simply switched between Mulder's and Scully's hallucinations, back and forth, and Mulder was in Scully's trips and vice versa. The final twist and Skinner's "death" were great! Well anyway, if Mark Snow's new CD does well (comes out tomorrow!!), there will probably be a Volume 2, with music from Nowhere Man, Millennium, and maybe even those lost X-Files theme songs. I'm hoping for the X-Files movie trailer A music too, which I just love. (It's also the basis for the season 6 episode trailers.) Mark Snow wrote it, right? Oh yeah, the X-Files Declassified contest starts today online!

I have a new--or rather, old but just discovered--item. It is a set of 2 14 1/4x10" lobby cards based on the movie t-shirts (or cards, same design). Very cool!! Also I don't think I ever mentioned the new X-Files book by Ben Mezrich, Skin, which already came out. The buzz is very good for this one. Meanwhile, I've updated the Season 6 Spoilers page with air dates for the summer reruns from SpoilerVille. Finally, David Duchovny is currently filming Return to Me with Minnie Driver in Chicago.

UPDATE: Here, I got a picture of the DVD collector's card!

Two more merchandise items. This is the sheet music for Mark Snow's theme, a movie item different than the book from the soundtrack. And this is apparently another movie crew shirt (I have a picture of a shirt, listed, that looks the same except for the "Blackwood" text, but it could have been cut off), and has "Blackwood" written on it with an X over it--showing that it's not the movie's title and means nothing. Two more things: I got a look at the X-Files movie DVD, and it looks great. The box has a screen shot of a menu, and it is a combination of the teaser posters. The bottom is the green cornfield, but "shifted" to the left so the road is more toward the right. The sky goes from green to orange (bottom to top), and there's a wavy X in the background. The official site on the box is listed as www.x-filesdvd.com, still linked to Fox Home. And, the finale will have to do with the black oil, even if it's only mentioned or talked about.

UPDATE: Also the binaries newsgroup archive has been stopped--it will no longer be updated. And, the DVD comes with a different card than the video.

Well, the DVD came out on the 4th. Unfortunately, the alien statue didn't come out yesterday because it was set back to May 12. Anyway, I have some details on the disc now that it's out there. It is a Fox Feature Release (as well as a Special Edition disc). The packaging is an Amaray keep case. I can confirm, also, that there are in fact all three trailers included, and both CC and RB are in the full-length commentary. The making-of documentary is the Collector's Set version narrated by Mitch Pileggi, with added interviews with CC and GA. There are 18 chapters, and film-themed menus with animation and sounds! The menus are based on the teaser posters. Here is an excellent review of the DVD. Speaking of which, the first wave of episodes should come to the format this November! BTW, I updated the Mythology section. Check it out.

Although I enjoyed "Three of a Kind," some people didn't. The episode received the show's lowest ratings since season 1's "Roland." Ouch. Another factor was NBC's much-hyped Noah's Ark miniseries, aired at the same time, which took away many viewers. I think I mentioned that Covarrubias won't be in "Biogenesis," and neither will the Bounty Hunter or Jeremiah Smith, unfortunately. Maybe in the premiere. Also there is apparently nothing on the digital tape, which I find hard to believe. If Hosteen is in it, what's the point of not mentioning it? I'm betting the premiere will address that. And I'd like to say welcome back to the X-Files Alphabet Book--now The Alph, with a new U.S. address and server. The Wire is also back--it was a great source of info for my site when it was running. I've been watching this site for a long time, and just when it reopens everyone else announces it first. Well I've been busy.... Speaking of sites, the X-Files Multimedia Archive was shut down a while ago by Fox lawyers. A great loss.

Millennium looks like it's on its way to cancellation. Fox hasn't signed on for a 4th season yet, and it won't be rerunning during the summer. We'll see. Finally, here is a page with all the downloadable clips from Mark Snow's upcoming album. Sounds great!

Quick update--I have a real picture now of the theater standee! Also here is the official HBO X-Files movie page, and here is the HBO TV spot, from HBO's server. The movie came out on that channel May 1--it has no cut scenes, not even the video's extra scenes, BTW. Tomorrow the DVD comes out!! Wave 3 comes out on May 12 in Australia. Now, who thought "Three of a Kind" was cool? And "Field Trip" looks incredible!! Bryan Spicer is a great director, he did a really good job. I especially liked the teaser.
