The camera pans away from Freid into the forest, where Zongi is making his escape, shrouded in a cloak
Zongi: "Me... am I going to die?"
He stops suddenly, seeing the trees close in around him, much like Hitomi's vision of him getting smothered. But it turns out to be just a paranoid illusion.
Zongi: "It's just an illusion... I must inform Master Folken."

Back in Freid, still in the dungeon, everyone is tied up.
Chid: "That Plactu was a Zaibach spy?"
Hitomi: "I saw it. He killed the real Plactu and changed his shape. The prisoner was also killed. And he'll be killed as well. A black hand will..."
Hitomi shudders at the memory of the vision, while Millerna comforts her.
Chid: "Where's Plactu?"
Boris: "I can't find him anywhere."
Van: "He must have run away! Prince Chid, we've got to find him! It'll be too late once Zaibach knows Hitomi's secret!"
Boris: "Silence! Prince, you shouldn't listen to their story."
Chid: "Boris..."
Chid walks towards Allen and draws his little sword. The others gasp, thinking that he's about to execute Allen or something. Chid then remembers what Allen told him about courage a while ago.
~Allen~: "Trusting someone takes more courage than going to war."
Chid then makes a decision and uses his sword to cut Allen's ropes.
Allen: "Prince...?"
Chid: "Allen, I want you to find Zaibach's spy yourself.
Boris: "Prince, what are you thinking?!"
Chid: "'You should dispel doubts yourself.' I want them to follow Freid's law. I'll take responsibility.
Boris and the other guards bow to him in understanding.
Boris: "As you wish."
Allen gets up, but clutches his side, as he is still feeling pain from being wounded.
Van: "He hasn't fully recovered. I'll go instead."
Hitomi: "I'll go, too."

Outside, Van and Hitomi take off on Esca-dragon.
Hitomi: "No matter who he is, such a vision shouldn't become reality."
Hitomi uses her pendant to locate Zongi.
Van: "Can you tell which way, Hitomi?"
Hitomi swings the pendant and concentrates
Hitomi: "There's a tower that way" pointing behind and to the right
Van: "Alright."
They fly off over the city
Boris: "They won't run away, will they?"
Chid: "I believe in Allen's faith in Van."
He looks over to see Allen and Millerna watching Van and Hitomi leave

At the tower/ruins that Hitomi pointed out earlier...
Dilandau: "A girl from the Mystic Moon?"
Zongi: "Yes. She can see invisible objects, and she possesses an incredible ability to know the incidents of the future and past."
Dilandau: "An ability to see invisible objects and to predict the future? I see..."
Dilandau flashes back to the time when he tried to snipe Van in Asturia, but Hitomi saved him
Dilandau: "That time..."
He then flashes to the time when Hitomi, Merle and Van were in the forest, surrounded, but could still defend against the invisible Dragonslayers
Dilandau: "...and that time..."
He then flashes to his fight with Van which gave him the scar, because Hitomi warned Van of his presence
Dilandau: "...and that time, also..."
He finally flashes to the time he first met her in Allen's fortress
Dilandau: "That girl..." he begins stroking his scar "This scar is because of her..."
Dilandau jumps into his guymelef
Dilandau: "Well done, Zongi."
Zongi: "I appreciate your comment."
Dilandau powers up his guymelef
Dilandau: "Recieve your reward..."
Dilandau begins wrapping Zongi in one of his liquid metal claws
Zongi: "Wh.. what are you going to do?"
Dilandau: "You killed Migel, didn't you?"
Zongi: "That was my duty...!"
Dilandau: "Think of what you've done to my man. That's why I hate doppelgangers."
He begins to squeeze Zongi in his claw
Zongi: "Th.. this is...!"

Elsewhere, Hitomi and Van are headed their way
Van: "Is that it?"
Hitomi: "Van, hurry!"

And back to the other two, Zongi is getting smothered be the liquid claw
Zongi: "D.. Dilandau!"
Dilandau: chuckles evilly

Hitomi: "We won't make it!"
Hitomi suddenly has the vision of being swallowed up again. It coincides with what is happening to Zongi. They both cry out for help, and Hitomi sees/feels Zongi die in her mind's eye. She screams and passes out onto Van's arm
Van: "Hitomi!"
Dilandau sees Escaflowne fly by
Dilandau: "Escaflowne! I'm so lucky. Shesta! Gatty!"
Back up on Esca-dragon
Van: "Hitomi, snap out of it!"
Suddenly, a bunch of balls of flame, followed by the extendo-claws, shoot up at Van, he is able to avoid them, but there's still a lot of confusion in the air. Dilandau is on the ground, laughing maniacally and shooting fireballs.
Van: "Those invisible bastards...? Hitomi... Hitomi!"
Hitomi: "Strongly... strongly imagine in your mind..."
Van: "In a place like this...?!"
Hitomi: "You can... I'm sure you can do it."
Hitomi takes Van's hand to help him concentrate. Escaflowne pulls out its sword (it's still in dragon mode, by the way o_O), as the onslaught continues.
Dilandau: "Hey, hey, come on down here!"
In the middle of the firefight, Hitomi tries to get Van to see with his mind's eye
Hitomi: "Concentrate. Project strongly into your mind..."
Escaflowne's energist starts to glow, and Van envisions the pendant. It swings forward, and he points Escaflowne's sword in that direction
Van: "I can see it!"
He swoops down and slices off the Dilandau's invisible guymelef's arm, then goes crashing to the ground
Dilandau: "Damn you!"
Dilandau attempts to charge, but Van sliced off the guymelef's other arm, then Esca-dragon gives it a good kick. As he's falling backwards, Dilandau sees Hitomi
Dilandau: "That's... the girl from the Mystic Moon!"
Dilandau goes sliding down the side of the tower
Gatty: "Master Dilandau!"
He shoots at Van, but Van swoops down and cuts his guymelef's right side off. He then whacks it into the tower. Dilandau then comes charging
Dilandau: "Girl!"
Dilandau makes some swips at Hitomi with his sword, all blocked by Van
Van: "He's after Hitomi!"
Their blades lock, the point of Dilandau's sword ends up inches from the still zoned-out Hitomi's face
Dilandau: "It's you! You're the nuisance!"
In a last-ditch effort, Van has Esca-dragon head-butt Dilandau's guymelef. In the momentary confusion, they escape
Dilandau: "I won't let you get away!"
Dilandau tries to puruse, but his guymelef is too badly damaged to fly
Dilandau: "You COWARD!"

Back in Freid...
Chid: "As Hitomi predicted...?"
Van: "I lost the proof that that Plactu was Zaibach's spy, though..."
Boris: "However, you've proven your innocence."
Millerna: "The body of the real Plactu was found."
Boris: "The monks in the austerities found it in the forest. The dried-out body must be the doppelganger's deed."
Chid: "But I trust you without any proof, because you came back."
Merle: "Yay!"
Boris: "I apologize to you for my rudeness."
Millerna: to Allen "You made him decide. You know, you resemble each other. The color of your eyes and hair... You're like brothers."
Allen and Chid share a glance while a guard whispers something to Boris
Boris: "Everyone, the king has returned."
Chid: "Father has...!"
A throne descends from a large floating ship, with multitudes of monks bowing to it
Hitomi: "Prince Chid's father... I wonder what he's like."
