A few weeks ago Yoko unveiled in New York a banner in memory of John and their hopes of peace. Yesterday on the news I saw that your President and and my Prime Minister have learnt nothing. Later, trying to get to sleep, I started wondering what John would have thought about this. ( the bombing of Iraq). I sundenly thought - John would be angry. After all he frequent protested against Vietnam, and sent his MBE back because of British involvement in Biafra, and non condement of Vietnam. I've also heard an extract from one of the last interviews where John's talking about how the 80's could be a new chance to make things great. You may think this is a bit crazy but, we wasted that chance (I'm talking generally I was only a baby when he died), all the wars, violence and uglyness in the world since then show us that, but I believe we have a new one at the begining of the new millenium. that will be the 20th anniversay of John's death and I believe we should mark it by working to achieve his dream. we don't need to wait to then, we should start now. Yoko, despite everything, has been, involved with peace groups over the last 18 years, and is still now. Children are those who are important, they need to be taught (in Pauls words) "words of love instead of Burn Baby Burn", and (in John's words) to "Imagine all the people sharing all the world". Here are a few suggestions to help get the message across (I'll post some more later) At once. Do all you can now to try and stop Clinton re-bombing Iraq; protest, state your opinion on radio phone ins, write to the white house, or Email him at President@Whitehouse.guv Anytime. try to get hold of the childrens Imagine picture book, or scrappbook style book of handwritten lyrics drawings photos etc. Both are suppose to be good, leave them for your, or your friends or relatives children to see. request peace songs on national radio stations, eg, Imagine, Happy Xmas War is Over, Give peace a chance, Pipes of Peace etc I think we owe this not just to ourselves but to John and Yoko too.
