- EMBALAR - EMBALARSE:
- A verb with very different meanings throughout the Latino landscape; Dominicans only use it
in emergencies: "Take the money and embalar yourself ! "
- EMBULLO:
- This is a (blind) date with little or non consequences of importance -- at least for male Dominicans.
- EMBURUJARSE:
- I have counted the votes already five times with different results; I must have been emburujared me.
- EMBURUJIÑA:
- What an emburujiña of colors and odors we saw during our visit of the local market.
- EMBUSTERO:
- Dominican use it as a noun only and its meaning depends on the age of the person attributed with it:
- children: intelligent and sympathetic
- adults: devoting and close friend of the familiy
- EMPERCHADO
- Go with the times and dress up to the latest fashion, then you are emperchado.
- ENCULILLARSE
- Its already dark, you do not now the neighborhood and you are alone on the street -- maybe then you start
to get yourself enculillar ed.
- ENJARETAR
- As a verb a very popular expression in the Dominican Republic and it mainly in context with food:
I came home starving, but once I enjaretar ed myself with four plates of my mother's stew, I felt
much better.
- ENTRIPAO - ENTRIPADO
- To be heard in the Cibao Valley and throughout the Southwestern provinces: The rain shower took us by
surprise and we came home completely entripao.

- FATULO-LA
- As a noun it is a technical term in the world of the all popular cockfights: If you own a cock called
a fatulo you rather not bet money on it !
As an adjective it means that fatula news are bad news.
- FESTEJAR
- This verb is commonly describing another favorite activity of Dominicans; it substitutes the definition of an event
with is celebrated every year in a person's life, also used for married couples. Did you forget to buy a present the last time
your wife was festejaring another year together with you...?
- FICHA
- If you play Dominos, which you should when you area real Dominican macho, you need them fichas to
play it -- not only the board !
- FILISTRIN
- We supported your efforts to loose weight , but look at you now you filistrín -- when there is a
strong wind blowing you have to be tied down in order not to get blown away.
- FLAN
- If a filistrín is fed with enough of sweet flan we will not have to tie him down anymore.
(main ingredients are goodies like corn flour, egg yolks, cream of milk,sugar and cinnamon).
- FLOCHON-NA
- This adjective puts a lot of weight but not to a filistrín -- rather a job to be done or a problem to be solved.
If it is flochón or flochona it's a real tough one !
- FLUX
- If you are a male do not pronounce the "x" of this noun but never forget to use a tie when you wear your's !
- FLU DE LENGUA
- The host of the talk show had such a flú de lengua that the invited politician hardly could make his point.
- FUETIZA
- Told you not to get involved in this fuetiza in that bar; now you will have to see a doctor !
- FRIO-FRIO
- Now as temperatures are rising sharply in the cities you may buy yourself a nice ice cold frío-frío from
the street vendors.(ingredients are a plastic cup, scraped ice and inumerous varieties of colored and flavored sirups).
