06/30/97   US citizen posted petition (I-765) to Nebraska INS service center.
07/17/97   US citizen recieved Notice of Action form (I797C) from INS indicating that they recieved the petition.
07/29//97   US citizen recieved Notice of Action form (I797) from INS indication that the petition had been approved, and that the necessary documentation had been sent to the Consular General in Johannesburg, South Africa.
08/15/97   I recieved package from JHB Consulate instructing me to collect the necessary documentation. Also had to fill in Forms OF230 part one and two.
08/16/97   Posted off OF230 part one and two.
08/18/97   Had blood tests and X-ray done.
08/20/97   Medical Examination. Had photo's done.
08/21/97   Faxed off form to JHB consulate indicating that I had all the documentation and was ready for the interview.
08/21/97   Phoned to confirm that fax had arived and was able to schedule an apointment for the interview.
09/09/97   Visa interview in Jhb at 8h30
09/09/97   Visa stamped in my passport by 11 am.

Total time from posting petition (06/30/97) to receiveing visa (09/09/97) = 11 weeks.

11/02/97   Left SA. from JHB at 20h15
11/03/97   Arrived at Schiphol, Amsterdam at 06h00
11/03/97   Left Schiphol at 17h00
11/03/97   Arrived at Minneapolis/St Paul at 20h00 (Did NOT get work authorization at airport)
11/21/97   Married by Court Administrator
12/04/97   Applied for Change of Status to Permanent Resident ($130.00) and Employment Authorization ($70.00). Recieved Employment Authorization immediately. (Ok, 45 mins later.)
12/05/97   Applied for Social Security Number
12/18/97   Recieved Social Security Number
01/20/98   Landed a full time Job!!!!
01/24/98   Recieved notification that I have been scheduled for the Change of Staus interview on 06/10/98
06/10/98 Had the Interview. Got the Permanent Residence Stamp in my passport!! The interview itself went really smooth. She just asked the same old questions - how did you meet; how do you like the US; Don't you miss home etc etc. We are now waiting for the Green Card to arrive in the post.
