DRYDEN
~~~~~ Ontario, CANADA.Situated almost midway between Thunder Bay and Winnipeg is the City of Dryden. In 1894 the Honourable John Dryden, Ontario's Minister of Agriculture, was passing through the area and noticed the luxuriant crop of clover growing along the railway tracks. This prompted him to set up an experimental farm here. He returned in 1897 and assisted the local authorities with several area problems. His good deeds were rewarded when the local folks decided to name the new town "DRYDEN" in his honour.
Since then, the small remote town has blossomed into a new Canadian City with it's own airport facilities. The Trans Canada Highway passes right through the city, which is about 100 kms. east of Kenora.
