Mission: Blow the lid on Road Rules: Semester at Sea by snapping a few pic of the new cast.

Quote: "If I didn't figure out some way to blow the lid on Road Rules 8, I could kiss my career in television goodbye." - Piggy, It's abit late for that!

Summary

It's as choreograph as a ballet, and predictable as the lottery (No matter how many tickets you buy, you're not gonna win!)

Analysis

I'm sorry to say this, but I'm annoyed with Semester at Sea already (And the season hasn't even started yet!) Now I'll try, I'll try, I'LL TRY not to prejudice this season; but if B-M keeps pulling the same stupid stunts similar to this past week, then I'll have to dust off my 0's and 1's from the ratings closet!

Now I don't like to be played for a sucker, but that's exactly how I felt while watching this special (Why do the producers insist on hurling bones at us when we're already full?); In fact, the only people who would find this special interesting are the afterschool\Saturday Morning demographic, and misinformed RealWorld/RoadRules junkies without computers. I mentioned a head of time (over the weekend) that it was trivial filler. It's more than that! It's pointless filler that knocks last season's dismal--"Deep Sea Therapy" right off the chart as the most boring/irrelevant/trite piece of trash that has ever occupied the 10 spot!

For those who cared for the plot (I sure as heck didn't!), Piggy who now officially qualifies for B-M's welfare program for inspiring and out of work actors/actresses, wants her own show. So Yolonda, a MTV VJ, and one of B-M's spare pawns (a la, host of the Real World: Seattle clip show.....some more mediocre filler) offers Piggy a taste at stardom. If she is able to blow the lid on S.A.S, and catch some footage of the unknown cast, she'll score her very own talk show!

So MTV flies Piggy to Hong Kong (Insert your favorite children fable: "This little piggy went to market, This little piggy stayed home, This little piggy flew to Hong Kong--") where the show takes a nose dive into absurdity! I'm not going into detail, but suffice to say almost every silly scene revolved around Piggy's futile efforts to strong arm Newbill, the students, and dean into giving up the identities of the cast....HA, as if!

What's really irritating here is the poorly/cheesy scripted and predictable B comedy suspense (And I use that work lightly!) build up that replays its self whenever Piggy's "This Close" to getting the 411 on the cast; only to have it come crashing down. The producers have got another thing coming if they expect this lame TNBC style bad comedy will have me on the edge of my seat! But by far, the final insult was when after Piggy finally catches up with the cast, the camera (As we are led to believe) oh-so happens to run out of tape....how CONVENIENT!!! I must say, I was so moved I wanted to hurl the largest object in the room at the tv!

I'm afraid I'm going with the dreaded goose egg on this one. I tried, I tried to find one redeeming quality that could nudge it up a point; but alas, after three full viewings, and three aborted attempts, I surmised that everything about this show deserved nothing more than to be hauled off to the nearest landfill!
